I wondered why the anime seemed oldy-worldy, didn't realize it was set in the 60's...
Hello guys, and welcome again to a Waldy565 review. I absoloutley LOVE music so decided to watch this series instead of my usual one-episode reviews, and at only 12 episodes there was really no point reviewing it from only one show!
Story - the story is, hmm, hard to judge. I may repeat myself a little when talking about the characters because they are linked (story and character that is). You can read the description yourself, but yeah, my score explains my thoughts!
Art - the art is really nice! It's not the most beautiful I've seen (then again, my favourite anime art is the CGI K-On/Love Live stuff, with hints of hand drawn stuff like You're Under Arrest and Cowboy Bebop) but I can't bash it either. It really complements the sound I think. Oh, speaking of which...
Sound - WOW! This won't please everyone, but anyone who has a slight whiff of a music connoisseur about them will appreciate the musical score of the anime. I said the art complemented the sound, and what I mean by this is Jazz had it's high and low moments. However, personally, the jazz in this is all-high, no-low. Perfect, not has a soundtrack enticed me since K-On! (and Cowboy BeBop, Code Geass and Love Live before it)
Character - I really, really like the characters. Many of them portray the "under-dog" figure, and you root for them whenever they struggle. I myself "jam" with my mates, we're not a band as such, so I can relate to the aspect of the four people being part of a band. I think what it is is they are relatable and show real, HUMAN emotion(s), and it makes them all the more enjoyable!
Enjoyment/Overall - If you enjoy music, Jazz-especially, and want to enjoy an anime that has a not-so-rememrable story but interesting characters, I'd definetley give this a look into! However, don't like music-based anime? This ain't gonna change your mind...
