Although Baby Steps is about sports and Beck about music, the main characters are very similar in looks and personality : They both lack ''something in their life'', they are hardworkers and try to give their best once they find what they like. Also both shows have quite nicely added romance.
Although the theme is different, the structure is similar. If you liked one, definitely check the other out.

I liken Yukio a lot to Maruo, the protagonist from the series Baby Steps. Each character merely sleepwalks through life, without a passion or something meaningful driving their day, but throughout the story they pick up and hobby to act as a catalyst for their passion and as a result their life changes for the better. Essentially, both Baby steps and Beck are about young people gaining a passion in something and having their lives change positively as a result.
