Both written in the late 90's, dark and gritty themes, violence, supernatural, mystery, thriller, I got the same feeling watching both of these shows. Both deal with relatively mature topics. Both stories are somewhat difficult to follow if you are not paying attention meaning you will get more out of subsequent rewatches.

Both anime feature supernatural powers that prefer to tell its story in a non-linear, out of order way that allows it's viewers to piece everything together.

- Both involve a protagonist with supernatural power in the daily world - Both have a dark theme with a similar tone of storytelling - Story pacing not in chronological order in both series

A slow paced, atmospheric psychological mystery horror series starring a girl with multiple personalities, one a fighting violent badass and one a reserved and normal girl. Told out of chronological order and very cryptic.

Boogiepop greatly reminds me of the Kara no Kyoukai franchise. Both are told in unchronological order where each piece is both an independent story and a piece of a larger puzzle. Main characters of both shows are young women with split personality and supernatural powers. Both are very atmospheric and have amazing soundtracks.

the atmosphere is very similar to that of kara no kyoukai we don't really understand everything, we're always looking for an answer this is probably the only anime that looks like kara no kyoukai there is also a similarity between boogiepop and shiki during the anime we can hear phrases with a hidden meaning like Kara no Kyoukai 8: Shuushou

Both female leads have mysterious abilities and are surrounded by supernatural events. If you enjoy the pacing and storytelling of Boogiepop you will find that Kara no Kyoukai gives the same feeling. The atmosphere in Kara no Kyoukai is also dark and eerie. The animation is handled by Ufotable and is a real treat given its age. Another similar point is that the story is told out of order. Please do not watch Kara no Kyoukai in chronological order on your first watch.
