Both shows follow young people wanting to become animators, making anime. Both shows give a chance to look into anime-making while having great humour.

Both shows are about young girls being passionate about making anime Both feature a school club (although Shirobako shows them in the workplace for the most part and not during school) Both have sick as fuck character designs Both include dream like sequences where the characters go IN TO an anime in their world

Both are about following your dreaming, while also showing some of what goes into the making of anime. The characters will go trough a lot of trouble, obstacles impeding them to finish their projects, but with persistence and hard work, they manage to produce an anime, which the audience then gets to watch.

Both shows look into not only the production process of what makes anime well anime but follow the long, hard journey it will take for an anime to be made all the meanwhile being a love letter to the anime industry. Although Eizouken covers the creativity that goes into anime whereas Shirobako covers the general production behind it ergo all the staff that you need to make it.
