It's hard not to see Guilty Crown as something of a Code Geass rip-off when they're similar to the extent the main character receives "the power of the king" from a mysterious female, before involving himself in a Japanese rebellion against foreigners discriminating against the Japanese. There are even robots on roller-skates in it! So far, what keeps the two as separate entities is the respective leads. In Code Geass Lelouch starts the rebellion himself and is driven by both hatred and the desire to protect his disabled little sister. In Guilty Crown the lead is (mod edit) a bit emotionally unstable and gets himself pulled   read more

Dictator evil government with gaint robots on roller blades, 17 year old gain they "power of the king" by a mysterious girl, Rebellion against the government. Then later one we got an incident which is exactly like the incident of code geass Season 2.

Both series are about a teenage boy who receives/gains access to a great power thanks to a mysterious girl and uses it to become politically subversive and wage war against a destructively repressive and controlling government. If you like the core elements of one, they can be found pretty much intact in the other.

When a power undeserved by humans find its path to a user, it's imperative that it is used for a good cause regardless on how difficult it is to achieve that noble goal. The saying 'With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility' comes into play. The bearer of such immense power must shoulder the boundless weight of responsibility and be prepared to accept whatever sacrifices this sorrow path may bring till the very end. The main characters of both series were given an ability unimaginable on the surface by an unknown female whose intention is not known and they are bounded to face any challenges along   read more

Indeed when i first watched Guilty Crown it was feeling like the same atmosphere which used to have Code Geass. Now let me explain: - both stories start in this future age in a post-apocalyptic-war scenery, face the government as villain, have discriminated people (Eleven/Infected), and as well have a rebellion lead by the main characters (Black Knights/Undertakers) - both series evolve around a main character, the usual teenager student, which casually gain a special power from a quiet and mysterious girl. - both anime have similar mechas - and last, both have an amazing art style and great character design ♥ Of course i do recommend both definitely!

Both of these series involve Japan in some way facing an army that has mech suits and an endless supply of manpower. There is one person who is able to rise up with power in the realm of Code Geass it's Lelouch and in the Guilty Crown series it's Shu. As the story progresses they both take you on a roller coaster ride of character development. Code Geass mainly dealt with class struggle while Guilty Crown deals with a virus. It's interesting to see how Guilty Crown will play out in the end though.

Dystopian future Japan, rollerskating mecha, main character joins the resistance, innocent Japanese citizens are frequently massacred by the rulers, occasional school scenes to lighten the mood.

The protagonists both have a special power referred to as "the power of the kings". In both, mysterious girls gave them this power. Before this power, they had both been outsiders wishing they could change the world, but finding no way to do it. After this power it seems that there is no going back. Both girls end up staying with the protagonist at their school.

It's good but it feels just like a copy off because there's a boy who is tried of being pushed around and do nothing and is granted the power to stop an evil dictatorship from running the nation. But it's still good none the less

"We don't see the show's resemblance" my ass, Guilty Crown producers. Both anime were more or less from the same development team, and are virtually identical. However, whereas Code Geass was met with brilliant reception for its masterful plot, characters, and enjoyability, Guilty Crown was definite flop in these areas (I was skeptical about the reviews at first - how could the same team who made Code Geass fail at an anime with similar themes? Unfortunately, most of the show's reviews were entirely justified). + Mecha action (although the mechas in GC felt more gimicky and not as highly featured as in Code Geass) + Similar   read more

Both protagonist met a mysterious girl who give them power of the king and both of them are resistance fighting the government suppression and tyranny both settings is like a ghetto parts of Japan.when the series progresses both anime begun to realize they're fighting to much bigger threat a threat that they're fighting to people who wants to change the world for themselves... well the difference is that.. Guilty Crown has a FAG!!! and Cowardly King(Shou) and Code Geass has a manly genius king(Lelouch)

Guilty Crown (GC) and Code Geass (CG) are similar in that both shows' (male) protagonists received a mysterious power referred as the "power of the king" toward the start of the shows. These shows also have a lot of mecha action, as people fight each other by controlling robots in one way or another. There are strong distinctions, however. Whereas Code Geass is a show that features a protagonist who is confident, charismatic, and devious, Guilty Crown's is more mellow, indecisive. As a result, the moods of shows drastically differ as one is all about watching the protagonist owning his opponents, the other is full of   read more

What we need is a divided nation, a mysterious girl, a rebellion, a male who wants to change the world and some super powers. With these few elements we can create both Code Geass and Guilty Crown. The main story in these two anime is very similar: A boy meets a mysterious girl who gives him super powers and both of them join (or already have joined) a rebellion fighting against 'the system'. Add some fighting 'robots', guns and enough action to leave you wondering what will happen next and you have two very interesting anime. Enjoy!

There is a main character playing "the Messiah" for the sake of world; a lot of robots, revenge, lies, hate, love; the world in danger and many many dying people. I can't choose what's better.

They are very similar in that both of them were seemingly normal people until one day they obtain a power. They will use this power and perhaps suffer from the consequences of doing so. Both of these series also have mecha, seemingly set in a futuristic world. Most importantly both of these series will leave a deep impression by the end.

Both have a story placed in an overuled Japan (by different reasons), a protagonist with a rare power and a few of his enemies which have them so, these rare powers the protagonist stands his ground depend on other people, both involve a force of resistance (Guilty Crown) or rebellion (Code Geass) against the established order, and either one of them makes use of mechas. This are pretty much their alike points. I recommend you to find the differences (that are quite some) by yourself as you enjoy the anime.

Great plots, cool characters, some awesome OST's in both, and overall just entertainment at its finest. Some people are, however, a bit skeptical with the ending to Guilty Crown, but I liked it! It could have been better, but I still liked it

It has Mecha, rebellions, and supernatural powers. Beautifully well made and stunning in its excitement. If you watch it, you will NEVER regret watching this.

Both of these anime have the robotic-tech theme and both protagonists have a strong desire to protect someone( guilty crown Inori and Code geass his younger sister). Also both anime give the same vibe and they are fighting for japans freedom

much like guilty crown in it featuring mecha fighting suits and one person in control of an extremely powerful special ability. What makes code geass much better though is the presence of an emotionally powerful, charismatic and intelligent main character who rather than blindly follows orders for love has a goal of his own that he will do anything to achieve. My personal favorite anime and one i strongly recommend

These two are almost the same because they are both Mecha. In both anime a boy meets a mysterious girl who gives them a special power that only they can use. They use it to "save the world" and they both end up getting corrupt and kill their friends along the way. If you like one you'll like the other.

I found these anime quite similar due to the fact that they have those moments in the anime where you want to hit your television or computer screen while watching. (Not a bad thing) The main characters are a little similar but lelouch in Code Geass is a lot smarter. The way they react to situations are quite the same. The both of these anime are really great in my opinion and I recommend it to anyone who is willing to go on the thrilling ride these two awaits.

The legendary anime Code Geass can even compare to a anime? Well yes it can, both these anime are about a group of rebels that fight the government and military because of something. The main charactor both have super powers but Guilty Crown features more romance which adds to the anime. Also mecha and guns are included in this too!
report Recommended by EuH3llscyth3
The world, plot, and even a few characters have a lot in common with each other. The main difference is the protagonist, with shu being more of a regular kid, who wants nothing to do with the rebellion, and lelouch, who wants to use the rebels for his own goal. Both are good, but code geass is more plot oriented, and has many unexpected twist and turns, while guilty crown is more action oriented. Watch if you want to see a similar world and premise.

A great mix of mecha and superpower. Both have feature a badass MC. Strategy, technologies.

The main character receives "an overpowered ability" from a mysterious female. Then they became part of a Japanese rebellion against foreigners discriminating against the Japanese.

Do you want to watch literally this exact show but better? Code Geass.

They both center around rebellion, mecha and lots and lots of explosions, have loveable characters and epic music. If you like one you're bound to like the other

These two stories are basically twins with just a different setting. Both focus on terrorist groups trying to save everyone. Both MCs are given a special super power that they can use on others to reach their goals. Both MCs are willing to sacrifice others in order to achieve the end goal.

Student gets power of the king from a girl. Joins terrorists. On a fundamental level these two have similar concepts, even when the story is different. There is development through the main character, especially when they realize about the people they've killed.

Both series start off with the protagonist (a high schooler) unexpectedly gaining supernatural powers from a mysterious girl who then becomes a strong supporting character for the protagonist. Both also involve mechas, although they aren't the main focus of the show. There are also a lot of crazy plot twists and fatalities thrown through both to keep you on your toes.

Main character is changing his temperament with current situations

Granted a special power from a mysterious woman, both protagonists undertake in a resistance movement against their respective oppressive force in order to take back Japan. They have focuses on psychology, romance, and the battles using the secret power and military techs such as mecha. Basically, you should expect a similar war-like atmosphere from these two anime.

-Both series involve a main protagonist who gets affiliated with the resistance against the established oppressive government. -Both series involve a main protagonist who has access to a unique power creating an edge over their enemies. -Both series include a soundtrack which is excellent. This is obviously a bit more subjective.

both have haughty and arrogant lead characters and lots of chaotic action and manipulative goals as well too that makes them more viewed as villains.

Both series feature mechas (Knightmare Frames & Endlaves), war against corrupt government (Britannia & GHQ), rebel groups who stand against the government (Black Knights & Funeral Parlor), male main characters (Lelouch & Shuu) obtained the King's Power (Geass & Void Genome) from a mysterious girl (C.C. & Inori), discrimination against people (Elevens & Infected) and dystopian future.

If you've seen Guilty Crown and not Code Geass, I URGE YOU to go see it right now. Guilty Crown is pretty much a copy and paste of the latter with a significant decrease regarding quality of writing. Like I said, both of these anime share the exact same themes, story, characters; and there is no doubt in my head you will like Code Geass if you liked Guilty Crown.

You can not notice the big resemblance between anime and I think that Gulyy Crown has quoted a lot of anime code geass

They have the same formula. A boy who coincidentally meets an unknown girl (they have the same personality as each other) and then he gets super powers which has the posibbility to change the world. After that moment, he will join the terrorist group and fight the government. Also both anime involve a bit of modern technology.

Code Geass and GC are both mecha anime that revolve around a high school male protagonist that receives the “Power of the Kings” from a girl.
report Recommended by Reapercodbo3
Both are mecha anime that is not afraid to kill off characters Both MCs are just a normal high school student until a "mysterious" girl showed up Both MCs are members of a terrorist/resistance group that rebels against the government

If you consumed every things related to code geass (Anime/OVA/Film ect) than watch Guilty Crown for a little bit more pleasure. It’s not perfect as Code Geass but it’s still fine trust me.
report Recommended by Murtikana
Both anime feature the MC gaining some sort of special power early on. Guilty Crown differs because the MC is a lot more unstable emotionally.
report Recommended by Mo168
Why are they similiar: -Both Mcs receive a power called "The Power of the king" at the very beginning to fight against the their enemies; -Both animes are based more around the mecha theme. -Both Fmcs have feelings for the mc; -Both are anti-heroes fighting for the ones they love and want to protect. -In both shows, the Main Characters fight for justice and independence of their own country

I think Guilty Crown is like Code Geas but it is an another anime. They have like many same features: 1) A main character which gets too much power becomes bad and end everything as good. 2) That girl who influenced main character's life. 3) Robots, and other mechs, and such technology. 4)That one sacrificial girl who is in love with the main character.

the two shows are perfect to watch together, watching one improves enjoyment of watching the other

Both shows revolve around political standpoints, using 2 major forces as main oppositions. Both shows are extremely messy and convoluted, likely due to the script writers working on both animes. Both are also riddled with large portions of content that never needed to have been there, including fan-service, and drama so silly that you think you accidentally clicked on a bad joke of a Lucky Star episode
