Yakumo is, in essence, a more rushed and poorly written version of Ghost Hunt. The two leads and their relationship is the same in both, though in Ghost Hunt the heroine's thoughts are expressed internally frequently, which makes her have far more depth and spunk than the hollow shell of a character that is Haruka. And the episodic stories themselves are far more involving and, at times, creepy than the average predictably on show in the first few Yakumo episodes.

Same type of cast - a male psychic that solves supernatural mysteries, with a cute female side kick. A bit of suspense, a bit of puzzle solving, a bit of romantic tension between the two protagonists. The two shows are simply very similar, even if Ghost Hunt feels like the better show.

They hunt down supernatural disturbances in order to try and get rid of the chaos that has followed them their entire lives.

Both have people that hunt ghosts, with a "cool headed" guy as the main character and a worrying main girl. Both are interesting and haunting!

The main guy character are cool and kidna cold... and the main girl character are pretty cute too... the story re scary (to me) but both are pretty good anime~ if you like one of them you should like other one too.

When I watched the first few episodes of Yakumo, Ghost Hunt just popped into my head. The characters are really similar; Naru and Yakumo, Mai and Haruka. Both contain investigations that deals with the paranormal, and teensy hints of romance between the main characters.

Yakumo and Ghost Hunt are both: * Detective stories that are involved with the paranormal. * Have hinted romance * And both come from novels, which were made into a manga, and then into an anime.

The main character seems to be cold at first but in reality is good natured. Both series are based around ghosts and super natural things as well as detective scenary.

I have personally watched and finished Ghost Hunt, and am right now watching Shinrei Tantei Yakumo, an I just can't help but pick out many similarites. For example, Mai, from Ghost Hunt, and Haruka, from Shinrei Tantei Yakumo, have similar, if not same, person.'s. The same goes for Yakumo and Naru-Naru(as i call him). Also, both GH and STY have the same "hunt ghosts" theme, in which the female lead is often discribed as helpless.

As I scrolled through my history for no reason whatsoever I had a revelation. As I passed over Ghost Hunt I seriously thought of the synopsis for Shinrei Tantei Yakuumo. With good reason. I rarely make mistakes like that so I went back over both synopses and they both basically have the same plot. So if you like one you are bound to like the other.

both have the central theme of "investigating paranormal activities" in tantei yakumo, it mainly deals with cases base on the main character's supernatural power while in ghost hunt, it mainly deals with cases by the help of the paranormal investigation team packed with different specialist. both paranormal cases are also interesting and there seemingly have a romantic aura between the male & female main characters in both series. Although I sometimes feel ghost hunt is scarier.

The personality of the main characters is very similar, tho there are very unique and detailed supporting characters in Shinrei Tantei Yakumo. Ghost Hunt is more scary, but Shinrei Tantei Yakumo in my opinion has better soundtracks and conflicts. Also, there was no supporting character in Shinrei Tantei Yakumo who even remotely annyoed me as Masako in Ghost Hunt :D

Both anime have a main and secondary character involving a boy who solves supernatural mysteries and a girl who is interested in him resulting in her helping him solve these mysteries. While the protagonists of both use different methods to solve those cases (Yakumo talking to ghosts and Kazuya using scientific instruments/spiritual techniques) they both have some sort of advantage over others in solving these types of cases. Moreover, Ghost hunt divides its episodes between cases while Yakumo is one big case where everything is connected to the protagonists destiny. These too anime are so similar that many claim that Yakumo is a half-assed version of   read more

Both stories show us the dark way into the supernatural world, that doesn't contain the harmless youkai we see in other stories. These stories are about male exorsists-investigators that know a lot of things about the supernatural and a female character the becomes evolved with the male MC. The male MCs are cool-headed and used a bit to much in the horros of the supernatural world thus making them a bit cold while interacting with other humans while the female MCs are naive and a bit to trusting of others.

Both of these anime are supernatural/horror. Both are about a girl who befriends and/or works for someone who solves mysteries that have something to do with the supernatural. Ghost Hunt is more on the horror side, so it is scarier. Also, there is more of an overall plot in Shinrei Tantei Yakumo than in Ghost Hunt. Also there is more romance in Shinrei Tantei Yakumo. Both are pretty good if you like supernatural and horror anime.

Similar anime in terms of the theme and overall atmosphere - Both of them are based of Ghost/Spirit hunting. - Both involve a girl having a crush on a cool and calm guy. - Although Yakumo is relatively shorter anime than Ghost Hunt, both share common aspects of exploring happenings of mysterious spirits.

Both are related to ghosts and superpowers with mystery, female and male as the main characters

Both anime deals with supernatural events involving spirits, and the protagonists investigate these cases and form an unrequited couple

Same type of world and casting. Cool Level headed experienced Male Lead with a mysterious interesting backstory, The FL who enters this world and learns about it as wel do. Though Ghost Hunt does it better- The Female Lead. Female in Ghost Hunt is no damsel in distress, she learns, grows and adapts well in each case.
