It showed the the character depths of Bertholdt,Reiner,Annie and Marcel.
Eren's character development to how he thinks about Marley and the Eldians
Introduced new characters who are important to the plot.
Showed Reiner's perspective which is more interesting than the Survey corps.
Showed how Annie,Bertholdt,Reiner and Marcel were made into warriors.
I can give you more points but if you think that your criticism is legit then it is YOU who should get help.

Great thread on aot btw, a character doing bad thing totally means he is automatically a bad protagonist. Just ignore that protagonists can be evil, just ignore that they literally called war on paradise island....
