Started watching anime somewhere in the mid to late 90s with DBZ. Though my first anime may have been Samurai Pizza Cats...
I've been collecting anime since around 2001 up to about thirty or so vhs before I switched to dvd. My first complete series was a dvd boxset for the anime Gokudo. Which of course I bought because it had goku as part of the title.
I don't aplogise to be a English Dub only anime viewer.
I've only seen about five or six series subtitled. When I watch anime, I'm usually all laid back on my couch. I'm not Japanese. I'm a gaijin and a fine example of a lazy American. Though, I do like the orginal theme songs subtitled. I actually hate it when an anime has an all english theme song. But eh well, that's just the way it goes.
I'm bit of a collector but my collection of anime isn't some monstrous filled apartment. I have a system with some of my anime is on my shelves, some is in a large capacity dvd case, and some is in a storage tub ready for my aproximately yearly anime auction on eBay.
I usually marathon a complete anime boxset when I first buy it. About a year later, I'll the watch the series again 2-3 episodes a day.
I say support the offical release... because that's the version I watch.
Also, don't forget to get some exercise in between viewing and such. To be strong you must be strong in mind, body, and spirit. You're not going to let goku out class you, are you...

Ah lmao. Good luck getting into that vines members group. If you get in maybe you could teach me how to get into it as well ;^) free stuff sounds like a plus B^) Also, have you considered writing reviews for MAL? If so, why not join Metacritic for MAL? :3
