Jujutsu Kaisen beta v0.012

The show never ceases to amaze me with how bold and focused it is. How every scene screams "This is fucking Jujutsu Kaisen bitches". It has the perfect amount of edginess and swag while being a little bit angsty and funny at the same time. This is all amplified by the unique synthesis of sound mixing, editing, razor-sharp pacing, great script, original ideas, and that excellent horroresque techno soundtrack. While also pushing its genre boundaries in a proper Rian Johnson manner. I have seen it four times already and the enjoyment of it did not suffer. tldr its pog af.

The movie, on ...

Monster (Anime) add
Preliminary (54/74 eps)
Fatigue the anime.

It kicks off in a promising direction, with exciting characters. The entire premise and beginning are great, but as the episodes start to pile up, while it introduces a plethora of side characters and ventures into even more side storylines, it grows increasingly more evident that it has nothing to say. The story builds in the tempo of a snail, which would not be much of an issue, but the show after a certain event (library) starts to forcefully, but again very slowly, regress all its past choices.

I lost any remaining interest I had when I realized that every story progression circles back ...

"This show could have it's own best boi competition and every option would have been valid". - Monkey Brain

MAPPA is a breath of fresh air amongst anime studios. Their best anime entries feel like proper cinematic works and this is no different with Jujutsu Kaisen.

It's an absolute banger filled with original ideas that use established shounen tropes and clichés to their advantage. It has bombastic action, interesting character dynamics, haunting soundtrack, disturbing horror moments, contrastingly hilarious comedy that doesn't feel forced and a great MC.
Having a protagonist and an antagonist in one body has so much potential for future story development and I couldn't ...

Instant classic. Easily a masterpiece. Characters, world building, script, animation, everything is top notch, so top notch that the very last episode or maybe the decision of ending it on the 25th episode makes it such a massive disservice to every deserved good faith show managed to accumulate. It almost feels like a big fuck you for caring so much. The last confrontation happens so suddenly without a proper build-up and results in the most nerve wracking and horrifying scene that is prematurely cut. It provides zero closure and leaves you with debilitating feeling. Cheap and the worst possible way of making you read the ...

Durarara!! (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
Durarara brings into the mix a very diverse and interesting set of lovable characters that is just a joy to see them interact with each other, but the main trio is contrastingly not as interesting. The first half up to the 12th episode is phenomenal, the interconnection between characters with interesting history and storylines was really nice to watch. Celty and Shizuo are easily the absolute highlights, but after the show shifts focus to exploring Anri and Kida for the entirety of second half it becomes sometimes too corny and annoying, really. The final conflict was poorly written and executed, few things made little sense ...
