First of all, this show was great, there is no way I wouldn't recommend you to watch it, as long as you have seen the original Steins;Gate of course. But as great as it might be, it doesn't come close to the masterpiece that Steins;Gate is.
Although it's well written, it feels as if the writers forcefully tried to follow up that masterpiece, which Steins;Gate undoubtedly is, with another one, no matter what. Even then, they did manage to write a great story, a story that *should* be very surprising and unpredictable.
I'm saying *should,* because although it was really unpredictable by logic alone, I managed
...
to call basically most of the major plot twists, some of them at the very start. Not by analyzing and thinking a lot about it, but just simply by thinking "What would happen next if the writer was forcefully trying to be absurdly mind-boggling?" Then I just said the first thing that popped into my mind out loud each time, and probably 90% of times, if not more, I was correct, even though there was no hint or reason for me to know what would happen.
It's still very well written, managing to write a story like this without any major plot holes is impressive, to say the least, and requires a story-writing genius. But they shouldn't have forced this story this way, Steins;Gate was a masterpiece as it was, this doesn't necessarily improve it in any way.
If this hadn't been forced into the Steins;Gate storyline like this because of the show's popularity, but instead made into a standalone story with spontaneous and natural ideas, it would have ended in a masterpiece, 10/10, straight A's. But like this, I can't give it full marks, therefore I'm giving it a 9/10.
