Both shows have psychological and social themes, but are also about learning to love yourself and gaining hope, no matter what situation you are in.

Both shows are comedies that feature an assassin, a spy, and a mind reader (albeit the way these tropes are carried out varies heavily).

Both shows center around multiple girls (Two in Popute, four in Bocchi). The art direction, sound, direction, etc. in both shows is constantly changing. While Popute is a gag anime made of of short skits, Bocchi is more of a simple comedy about a girl with social anxiety. Personally I found Bocchi both less funny and less engaging, but someone who appreciated the always-changing direction of Bocchi may appreciate the similar chaotic feeling of Popute, and vise versa.
