My Scoring Criteria
I try to be as objective as possible when I review and rate anything I watch while still keeping true to my authentic feelings towards a show. As it is natural, I obviously skew more towards the latter. Scores can't really convey your opinion fully but here's a rough sketch of mine:
10 - It's probably flawed somehow, but that's irrelevant to me. This anime is special for me and I love it completely as a whole. It's either emotionally intensive or philosophically engaging, or even both.
9 - A great piece of entertainment, never once causing me to feel bored in its entire runtime. It has a few flaws that make it not worthy of a perfect score but I still love it a lot.
8 - Above the average good anime, while it lacks in emotional punch or ingenuity to be regarded as special or outstanding, it does what it aims to do competently and keeps you hooked throughout its runtime.
7 - The average good anime. Its production value is solid and it's mostly interesting and entertaining to watch. It lacks being special or it just has too many dead periods (AKA boring at times). Good production is only worth so much.
6 - These shows are your average anime but something about them probably caters more to my personal taste (premise, animation, music, character design, humor, or something else). They're not unique in any way and don't have much depth to them.
5 - These shows are your average anime to the core. they do what they aim to do, it's just that what it is has been done a million times over and better. Either that or they have too many story-telling flaws.
4 - These shows are below your average anime. They may have decent production value but they're too boring. Nothing unique to offer, and too many moments where I just want them to end.
3 - These shows are straight up bad. They may or may not have decent production value and their story is barely able to carry on it's own a minute of runtime. They don't have any specific positives but overall I could deal with watching them for a bit, even though I'd rather not.
2 - Complete and utter worthlessness. Unbearable to watch without doing something else to keep you occupied at the same time.
1 - I hate these shows with a passion and everything they stand for. This score is reserved to shows that I have a grudge with, they're not just bad or boring, they're insulting.
