Let me start off by saying this: if you've written this off as ~ohh sexy yaoi for the fujoshis~ before even watching an episode, you're not only gross but missing out on a great anime. Does Banana Fish has scenes with two men sleeping together? Yes, but they are all without consent (except one, I think, maybe two depending on your idea of "consent") and the fact some male anime fans are writing this off as some sexy story for us fangirls is really demeaning to the struggles of Ash, the main character. Banana Fish does heavily hint at a romantic relationship between the two
...
leads but it's not in your face.
Story - 8/10
Banana Fish does something most anime do not - they show sensitive topics like rape without fetishizing it or making a joke out of it. BF touches on almost every sensitive topic you can think of: murder, rape, drugs but almost all of it is treated as what it is: bad. The rape scenes are never explicitly shown or used as sudden shock factor. And remember, the manga came out in the 80s when this stuff wasn't even talked about as much nevertheless with such care and respect.
Now as for the actual story, it can get a bit convoluted for sure, especially at the end, but it's never bad. It's definitely detailed though and pretty interesting, especially once everything gets moving at a faster pace around the middle of the story.
Art - 9/10
I absolutely adore the animation and character designs. That's all I can say; I think it looks great and smooth and fits the story really well.
Sound - 9/10
I usually end up skipping openings after a few episodes, but BF has been an exception to this cause it's a really nice song that gets you pumped and sounds like something I'd listen to from some of my favorite American bands. As for the actual soundtrack, I don't pay much attention to that - sorry.
Character - 9/10
BF is known for its amazing characters. Ash is a kid who went through hell and is just trying to survive. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty but time and time again shows he isn't some monster. Eiji starts out as a pretty spineless character but grows to stand by Ash's side as his friend (and maybe more). Then we get a lot of side characters who might be involved but in some shady things but prove they're human too: Shorter, Sing, Cain - two of which will be introduced later. They all stick by Ash's side and end up being really likable and interesting characters.
And the bad guys? Completely despicable. They're not villains in a magical settling who use magic to take everything over or anything over the top like that - they are realistic terrible people doing things that happen in our real world and that's what's so scary.
Enjoyment - 10/10
Speaks for itself.
Overall - 9/10
A lot of people are going to be turned off from BF cause of pretentious dude anime fans who think anything with any gay themes is just for fujoshis and should be skipped over but that's not the case. BF is an amazing story of friendship and tragedy and deserves to be given a fair shot.

I was surprised when I saw the top 3 reviews for this anime were all negative because quite frankly I have nothing negative to say about VE and I'm on episode 10. If I'm being honest I think most of the people trashing VE are doing so because they want to be contrary and "cool" for not liking a popular anime. You know, the same old pretentious anime fans we all love (if you can't sense the sarcasm, you've misunderstood).
Story - 9/10
Violet is about a young woman who was used as a war machine having to learn how to live a "normal" life after the
...
war ends. The series is episodic with the main overarching focus being on how Violet grows as a person. Maybe the only negative I can say about VE is that, yes, some episodes are predictable but I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing.
Each episode introduces a new character and their struggles, and ends with how those struggles get fixed or dealt with, typically with Violet helping to the best of her abilities despite struggling herself.
I'm not a big crier but I'll admit episode 10 made me tear up. VE has a wonderful way of making you care about characters and a story in just one episode. Kyoani always has pretty decent anime, but they really show their talent in VE.
Art - 9/10
As per usual Kyoani delivers amazing visuals. Absolutely nothing worth complaining about here.
Sound - 8/10
Usually I don't pay much attention to music in anime honestly, but I will admit VE has a way of putting the perfect music to make sad scenes even sadder.
Character - 8/10
For one, I love Violet. The more the series go on and the more she grows, the more I want to protect her like she's my own child. The other characters could do with more development, but on the other hand since the series is episodic and has to spend time making you care each episode for a new story it's understandable our mains don't get much time themselves, but they all have wondrous potential.
Enjoyment - 10/10
This is easily becoming one of my favorite anime of all time. That's all I have to say. Please don't listen to the negative reviews and watch VE for yourself. You will understand why I feel so passionately about this series.
Overall - 10/10
Again the only anime to ever get a 10 out of 10 from me and it's not even finished yet.

I first heard of this series when it was announced it would be getting an anime in 2018. I was a little perplexed on how they could make an entire anime out of a boy who befriends a mummy. Eventually my curiosity got the best of me and I checked out the manga. I was all 32 chapters in one sitting, which is all that's translated so far sadly.
Story:
The story is basic. A boy gets gifted a mummy from his father, who's constantly travelling and sending his son weird souvenirs. The story is all about our main character and his mummy, and all their other
...
friends (human and otherwise).
It's pretty light hearted for most of the beginning, making it a nice quick but sweet read. The story just starts to take a darker turn in chapter 32, which got me really curious and wanting to read more, so hopefully more chapters get translated soon.
Art:
The art is probably my least favorite thing. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not a bragging point.
Character:
I absolutely love the characters! From the humans to all the weird little creatures we meet. Our main character, Sora, is a genuinely good hearted guy, but he isn't as much of a pushover as originally implied. His childhood friend, Tazuki, has some issues, but cares for Sora like no other and at the end of the day is just as good a guy as him.
We start to see bits of other characters right before the translations stop - like a sweet girl named Motegi, who's strong and brave despite her tiny, cutesy appearance, and Sora's aunt, Kaede, who's insanely talented and gorgeous.
Enjoyment/Overall:
I would totally recommend this manga to anyone looking for a quick read that'll get you attached to the characters pretty fast. It's a fun ride, and I'm super excited for the anime.

I've never written an actual proper review on here before so... excuse me if this is kind of a messy/not very informative.
Let's start off by saying Dolly Kill Kill is easily my favorite manga right now. When I first started it I actually considered dropping it cause the art wasn't entirely for me (which is ironically completely opposite from how I feel now) but I'm so glad I didn't.
Story - 8/10
The story is amazing but not too difficult to follow, which is always a good mix. It takes place in an apocalyptic world where creatures known as Dollies take over the world. A
...
few choice characters, however, have the power to fight back against the Dollies, making up our main cast.
I've seen a few people compare this vaguely to Shingeki no Kyojin, which I can see but honestly... I would take this story/these characters over SNK, It's a lot more unsettling (I mean, the Dollies look like stuffed animals but with the intent to kill... no thanks) and fast paced enough that you don't get bored without anything feeling rushed.
Art - 9/10
Like I said at first the art was a little iffy for me but as the manga progressed, the art improved tremendously to the point I love it now. Maybe it just grew on me, who knows, but it's a very nice style and very fitting for the manga.
Characters - 10/10
Now this is where this manga truly shines. I love every single character. Seriously. And I don't just say that all the time, but each character in DKK has their own unique established personality and I truly care for all of them.
Even the main character, Iruma, who kinda annoyed me at first with his impulsive nature and ~ruled by revenge~ bs and selfishness has developed wonderfully and now I love him just the same as everyone else.
Most of all, I love the three female characters we have and that's... rare for me. Not because I don't want to like female characters but in anime/manga they're usually so trope-y and used merely for fanservice that I just find myself not enjoying them like I want, but in DKK the girls are strong in their own ways and (excluding the very beginning, maybe) never cowardly. That alone deserves a 10/10.
Overall - 9/10
This manga knows what it's doing. It's dark and interesting and knows how to create interesting characters you love right off the bat. I joke about this getting an anime because I would binge that shit but at the same time this manga is so good I wanna preserve that and not let anyone ruin it.
