Did you really find Kei consistently apathetic and misanthropic, though?

That was one of the things I disliked about Gantz, the fact that Kurono starts off as this normal guy who has no interest in doing shit and just wants to fondle some tits, but then pretty much turns into Katou as time goes by, a full-fledged hero, selfless and brave in the face of any threat, capable of risking his life to save even the most insignificant of people.

I don't know, despite the early beginning he felt very generic by the end.
