Well first of all I started this show expecting the most out of it a action packed anime with tons of fights and blood and all that, that’s exactly what made me not enjoy the show at first (first 50 episodes) after that i started to get a hang on gintama and started getting its references/comedy and loved it well this just proves that no one should expect anything from gintama just start the show and see where it goes from there im not saying first 50 episodes were bad they were amazing i just expected too much and im not saying gintama has not ... action it’s basically a show that drops hints every now and then its up to you to get those hints together and get to the main plot point and the action packed side of gintama is what we love to call “serious” arc which exceeded my expectations tbh the transition between comedy and seriousness is outstanding in this show I recommend starting this show with no expectations and enjoy it, it is a really long journey but trust me its worth it with the best side characters/cast i mean come on an anime about samurai and aliens who wouldn’t wanna check that out as silly and dumb it may sound it really is a work of an art and a masterpiece sorachi really did put his heart and soul into this series.
