Although Yahari isn't my typical romance, I really enjoyed this. If you're looking for a super cute, sappy romance anime than you probably shouldn't watch this. Hints of romance are seen throughout the show, but that's pretty much it. I'll admit I'm one of the girls who looks for that beautiful "first kiss" or "confession", but even though this anime lacks those two elements, I really enjoyed it.
The anime revolves around three characters - Hikigaya, Yui and Yukinoshita - and how they work together to solve various issues that are presented to them. Their differing perspectives are the main points of the show. Hikigaya,
...
the main character, is definitely a pessimistic character, but his reflections were deep and analytical and surprisingly mature. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing things from his point of view, even though I'm more of the sweet, innocent character type.
Story: 8
The only reason I'm giving this Yahari an 8 is because not a lot actually happens in the "romance" department, if you know what I mean. I don't want to spoil the show - like I said, hints of romance are present, and I was satisfied with how the show ended. The pacing is decent - the problems that arise aren't very related, but they do contribute to character development, which I'll expand on later. I enjoyed this story specifically for its unique perspective on life and relationships. Some of Hikigaya's quotes are relatable, even if he is greatly disliked in the show. This show made me examine different dynamics in my own life - I don't necessarily look at things from Hikigaya's pov, but I do examine things more critically. How often can you say an anime makes you do that?
Art: 9
The art was actually pretty good. I think the character art was a bit better than the background art, seeing as I recall very little of the background art. I liked how the characters were drawn, specifically Yukinoshita. She was so beautiful! I also really like Hikigaya, even though he's not handsome like other male leads. His fish eyes were even kind of attractive, in a weird way.
Sound: 8
I really liked the opening theme. That's all I've really got to say on the subject lol.
Character: 10
I applaud every character in this anime. Even though you don't get to know most of them very well - like I said, Yahari revolves mainly around three characters - what you do get to see of them is enjoyable. I mentioned before that several issues are presented to Hikigaya and the rest of the club, and every character contributed and grew a little from each of these issues. Most of the issues aren't related, but you see a lot of character development from each. Personally, my favourite characters have to be Hikigaya and Yukinoshita. Their relationship is so bizarre, and their conversations are hilarious and strangely refreshing.
Enjoyment/ overall: 8
Like I said, I thoroughly enjoyed this anime even though it isn't the typical kind of romance I'm attracted to. The story altered my perspective on a lot of everyday situations, and it's because of this I applaud the deeper threads in this anime.

This anime is such a breath of fresh air! It's one of my top animes. I'll say right away that you won't enjoy this if you're more into the steamy, ecchi or hentai romances. This anime is sweet and funny and I loved it.
This anime is flawlessly executed; it has beautiful artwork, a funny but meaningful storyline, interesting and lovable characters, and a sweet and believable romance. It's not the first anime to examine the relationship between humans and youkai, but in my opinion it's one of the best.
Story: 10
The beginning was kind of crazy, but once I got through it, the story flowed
...
really well. This is not your typical high school romance, although there are hints of it. The focus here is on Nanami and Tomoe, two drastically different people from different worlds, and how they clash. The story was funny (I actually cried laughing at some parts) but there are serious and touching moments to it as well. I thought the pacing was just right - the two main characters have to learn to love each other, and I thought that was great. The spiritual elements to the story weren't overwhelming either - they were nice touches to a great romance.

My biggest pet peeve in animes is ridiculous artwork, and I'm happy to say I didn't find that in this anime. I thought both the character artwork and the background artwork were nicely balanced, and the characters were all so beautiful! Especially Tomoe - I think I fell in love with him, like, the first time I saw him! Absolutely exceptional.
Sound: 9
The opening theme is so catchy! I found myself singing along, even though I don't speak a word of Japanese lol. The music throughout the show was well suited to different situations, and I found the music even added to the magic of key scenes. The ending theme wasn't as great, but I usually don't like ending themes anyways.
Character: 10
Every character in this anime worked well with each other. The dynamics in the relationships in this anime were hilarious and perfect. I loved every character, and they were so unique and real it blew my mind. The main characters - Nanami and Tomoe - are perfect. Not only for each other, but for the anime. Nanami is so cute and determined, and Tomoe balances her out with his dangerous allure and sarcastic (almost cruel) sense of humour. They revolve around each other and in the anime so beautifully it's fantastic.
Enjoyment/ overall: 10
I recommend this anime 100%! I enjoyed it so much I even went to go read the manga, which is saying something because I usually don't have the patience to read through mangas. The story is so superb, and Nanami and Tomoe are probably my favourite couple (they're currently battling it out with Sawako and Kazehaya). I haven't rewatched this anime yet, but I probably will. Several times.

I'd like to say first off that I didn't want to watch Kimi ni Todoke when I first read about it.
From the synopsis, I thought the anime would be shallow, and that it would revolve completely around Sawako's attempt at proving she was nothing like the character from The Ring, and that she would use Kazehaya expressly for that purpose.
I have never been so wrong!
The story was sweet and innocent and cute, and very heart-warming. I found Sawako's character very unique - she's not headstrong and assertive like most other anime leads, and I think that's why I liked her so much. Yes, the story
...
is based on how she is feared by her classmates, but I found that that fact merely added tot he story instead of completely swallowing it. It's because of this fear that Sawako grows, and that she can grow closer to Kazehaya.

Like I said above, the story was sweet and innocent. The pacing was really slow, but I kind of enjoyed it - it felt more realistic. Seriously, let's be honest - how often do romances bloom in the space of a couple days?? It can happen, but rarely. Although I enjoyed the sweetness, I admit that sometimes the problems that arose frustrated me. Nine times out of ten, the problems that surfaced were from some sort of misunderstanding, and sometimes I found myself thinking "seriously?? Just say what you meant!" However, it was a minor annoyance, because the problems do add to the anime. Also, the ending was satisfactory - I finished this anime with a smile on my face, not a frown.
Art: 9
I loved the art!! It was so airy and romantic and beautiful. I think this anime has one of the best artwork I've seen. However, I feel like the characters weren't as well drawn as the backgrounds. Sometimes their artwork was superb, like during really pivotal points, but most of the time it was just okay. The comedic artwork was perfect though - some of the portrayals of Sawako's face get me every time.
Soundtrack: 9
The opening theme for season one was my favourite! I always watched through it, because I loved it - it matched the anime perfectly. I didn't really like the opening theme for the second season though. They should have kept the one from the first season.
Character: 10
The character development in this anime was fantastic. It was paced like the anime - slow but believable. And it wasn't super noticeable development either. You'd stop and realize that so-and-so really grew from the beginning, or something similar. And the way the characters revolved around each other was awesome as well - everyone was unique and likeable. I even liked the "bad" character!
Enjoyment/ Overall: 10
I love love love love this anime. Like, with all my heart. It had everything I liked! And the romance that developed in this anime was so beautiful. I found myself looking forward to the next episode every time I finished an episode.
