Summary: Clannad is enjoyable, but I don't think it was my thing. It didn't leave much of an impression on me.

The story wasn't particularly original. A guy who's no good at anything else builds up a harem, and they form the theatre club (the first girl's dream). My main objection, though, was that nearly every plot point was predictable. I could probably tell you most of the “spoilers” and it wouldn't affect your viewing pleasure whatsoever. In fact, by saying that everything's predictable, I've done that already. But as I said, that doesn't matter. There were some interesting bits: notably at the very end

Pleochroic's review sums it up well. To add, Frau (Furugoori) is by far the most interesting character, though she tends to be lost in the more serious parts of the story. She has her time towards the middle of the series, though. I don't quite understand Junna's part in the story, though she is the focus of an extremely emotional episode. I remember there being another episode that nearly brought me to tears, too.
The artwork is amazing. The second ED (Itou Kanako's “Topology”) you can tell is beautiful, even without understanding the lyrics (though I suggest you read the translated lyrics at some point). The ... |
