I can’t let this movie go without a review. I’ve just finished watching it and actually I’m kind of speechless. There’s so many good things about it that I don’t know what to say. “Good” isn’t enough, that for sure. The movie is exceptional, impressive, stunning, and I could put here every positive adjective I can think of.
Here we have a beautiful story about survival, friendship, hardships and will to live and protect. It isn’t presented in a cheesy way present in most of the series. A boy and his dog, living on his own since he was six years old, due to parents’ deaths,
...
and a mysterious stranger, former soldier with intriguing past. He never draws his sword, never to protect himself. A one hour and forty minutes adventure of the two getting to know each other, fighting for priorities, and loved ones. It’s a beautiful story that I believe moved to tears a lot people. Somehow I can’t help the comparison to “Spirit, Stallion of the Cimarron”, Dreamworks’s animated movie. Although the main theme is entirely different, after watching it I get the same feeling. In both we see fight for freedom, however shown in a different way, and friendship building despite all the problems occurring at first.
The music is absolutely amazing. As a fan of the soundtrack from “The Last Samurai” I was impressed by the music here, in this anime. I won’t say it’s better or worse, I don’t have enough comparison yet.
As for the art and the fights. The only thing that was a bit irritating to me was that some parts were looking like computer-rendered 3D, not hand-drawn art. Except that the art was really good, very realistic and pleasant to watch. Same goes for voices. I actually wonder why MyAnimeList.net doesn’t list the voice actors, they’ve done a lot of a good job and they’re not even credited here, it’s a shame. But back to the art, some people might find discouraging the amount of blood and some scenes disturbing. Let’s face it, wars and conquests have always entailed a lot of blood. And definitely at a time like that. It’s a huge advantage that the authors didn’t try to smooth the history. However, personally, I thing they’ve overdone it a bit, too much of blood splattering, at times.
My overall score is of course 10. I couldn’t give any other nmber. “Sword of the Stranger” fully deserves the highest score possible.

Today I finally finished watching and I must say that Welcome to the NHK! is one of the most involving series I’ve watched so far. However it wasn’t love from the first seconds of watching.
Beginning of the first episode made me wait a long time before I eventually decided to watch. And it was a big mistake to let it wait so long! When I finally got through first 5 minutes I couldn’t tear my eyes from the screen. And then, I can’t say there was even one weak episode. If it wasn’t because of download speed I would have watched the whole series within
...
2 or 3 days.
The story is a very original one, as well as painfully real. The main character is z hikikomori but when suddenly he meets his old friends he’s starting to change. The main problem Welcome to the NHK! talks about is loneliness. All the characters live in Tokyo and despite all the differences they trying to find the meaning of life. The plot and characters are well-developed.
The only weak part of this series may be art. It’s not bad but, at least for me, it isn’t great either. However is suits surprisingly perfect to the story. Voices (both Japanese and English) are amazing too.
What can I say more? For me it’s definitely the most worthy anime I’ve ever seen. I can call it here an almost perfect 10 :)

It’s been a while since I watched this anime, and I know that I don’t want to see it ever again. Back then, I was looking for some yaoi or shounen-ai to watch. Going through various forums and reviews I found Gravitation, downloaded it and started watching.
With every episode I hoped that the next one will be better, but unfortunately they all were at the same low level. An over-emotional immature kid who’s able to sing only one or two sings through all the 13 episodes, with huge eyes and pink hair, dressed in some funny coat and shorts. Thanks, I’ll pass.
Instead of funny,
...
try pathetic. I don’t remember laughing much when I watched it. And when I did it was more of the silly actions of the main character than of the actual humor. The art isn’t stunning either, the music even worse.
There were, of course, some scenes that I liked, but not many of them. The only character I could like was Yuki Eiri because of his outwardly cold and indifferent demeanor. But even that wasn’t good enough to begin liking the anime in the slightest. I survived to the end of it and was glad to be able to finally remove it from my HD. Well, the last episodes I watched thinking ‘only 4 (or less) left, if I survived till now, I can finish it as well’.
And ever since I watched it I’m wondering how it’s possible that so many people worship it. I cannot understand it. For me, it was probably the worst anime I’ve ever seen.

Since I’m a huge fan of entire Devil May Cry series this review may be a bit biased. Actually, thanks to this exact anime my whole interest in this fandom began. I got some dvds from my friend who didn’t have time to watch them. And there was Devil May Cry anime, unfortunately only the first episode. But it was enough to get me in. I downloaded the rest as soon as I could and started watching.
I wasn’t much of a anime watcher then. I knew only several anime, but none of them like Devil May Cry. And to be honest, I still haven’t found
...
anything similar enough.
Devil May Cry is a series of 10 short stories, which have nothing in common except the main characters of Dante, Patty and Morrison, and some others. But then suddenly, we come onto episode 11 and everything stars to make sense! The stories in fact have been essential for the main plot which appears in two last episodes. Well, episode 12 is basically the final fight only, so not of a plot there. The stories themselves are different, some are better some weaker but for me each of them was interesting enough to watch.
I know that most of DMC fans don’t like the anime, for the creation of Dante. And I don’t blame them; it’s true that Dante’s personality’s been deformed more than ‘a bit’. But, still, maybe because it was the beginning for me, I like it. The first time I watched it a year ago, and since then I played DMC, DMC3 and DMC4, read mange and huge amount of fanfiction. A few days ago I watched it again, to make sure that I love it as I loved it then.
As I see it’s getting mostly weak scores, but from me it’s 10. I’m absolutely enchanted by the DMC world, anime art, Dante’s personality (the active part of it, not the one that could be sleeping all day long), guns and generally fights. In any other anime I didn’t find such a good looking main character with a gun and an oversized sword. And therefore I dare to say there isn’t a single anime resembling DMC, its world, characters and weapons.
