I've re-watched The Outlaw Star more than any other anime. At least once a year. I have So much fun with this show. If I die and go to heaven I hope it's exactly like the universe this story is based in. I want a ship, a diverse and colorful crew, and a Grand adventure! The Outlaw Star is a "space opera" in the truest sense of the phrase. Awesome spaceships battles, unique and funny characters, cool Sci-fi and advanced tech, and enough serious story development to keep it compelling. If you're a fan of Sci-fi fantasy then The Outlaw Star is right up your ... alley, a "Must See". And if you're a brown coat you might find it very familiar.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to fully express how unique and inspiring this anime is.
12 Kingdoms starts out in a very cliche way. School girl ends up in another dimension, special powers, nothing I haven't seen before. What truly make this anime stand out is how much the characters grow and develop. All the characters you meet in the first episode completely transform into someone else by the time the anime is over. Some change for the better, some for worse. This makes the show very relateable. It's really all about growing up. Facing overwhelming obstacles in your life and dealing ... with them. At the same time you're introduced to very imaginative creatures and interest characters and culture. They managed to build a world that feels like it lives on whether you are watching it or not. That makes it Epic. Do yourself a favor and watch 12 Kingdoms. Give it at least 5 episodes if you're not into it by then, it's not for you. But hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones and you will be moved and inspired by this amazing story like I was.

I don't understand why so many people like this anime. It's the Butterfly Effect stretched out for 24 episodes which makes the story weaker and more convoluted.I thought it was extremely predictable and drawn out. I found Mayuri Shiina very annoying. She spent the entire anime acting like my 8 year old niece. Which would have been fine if she was 8. Seeing a grown woman,who isn't mentally challenged, act like a child is very weird. Some animes I watch all the way thru because I enjoy the characters and the episodic story progression. And some animes I watch all the way thru because ... I've already invested a certain amount of time and I just want to see it's conclusion. Stiens gate is the latter. This anime was not fun for me at all. The main character who I actually thought was unique and interesting was wasted on this rehashed story. If you're thinking about watching this anime watch the Butterfly Effect first and save yourself 12 hours of repetitive nonsensical story telling.
