just finished watching Code Geass R2 and the finale, holy shit. I saw it coming but wow, amazing ending to Lelouch and the show as a whole. At the start I didn't really get the hype, multiple people throughout the years had told me to watch Code Geass, saying it was one of the best anime out there, and honestly I wanted to believe that it was the case, but watching it made me realise, it is not a Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood or a Steins;gate - It's Code Geass, and it does what it does very well. When I started to think like this I had began to enjoy the show more as a whole instead of critiquing its every fault, because if a show is being called a masterpiece by many people then It shouldn't have the faults it had, so instead, i wanted to set my own judgement of the show based on my own experience watching it.

I like to think of it as a product of it's time, and so it does fall victim of the issues I do have with a lot of 2000s anime: too much fanservice which kind of distracting especially when the stakes in some scenes are high and all we see is a shot of Kallens' ass or something. I don't care if fanservice doesn't bother you THIS IS MY OPINION AAAAA. Anyways, there was also an issue with characters miraculously surviving what would have been fatal explosions or shit. (i'm getting sloppy with this my brain is deteriorating rapidly) But overall I love R2 for how developed some characters are and how every episode upped the stakes so it never felt slow to watch at all. Appologies if i'm rambling so i'll cut this short and say, i see why people do say that Code Geass is a masterpiece, it is a perfect shonen if i do say so myself. It is what every shonen should aspire to be, rather than Naruto or One Piece (whatever usual anime watchers thinks is the standard) i think Code Geass should be the cut and dry representation of a good anime. It does what shonen shows do right in every way.

I lied i will not be cutting this short, but I would also like to add that the show utilises most characters in some way throughout the end which i love, because my biggest issue with some shonen anime would be that characters besides the mcs get under-utilised which just feels like a waste (biggest example being Naruto Shippuden), Code Geass and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood does this best. Anyways I don't know what else to write this will probbaly be the last time I say something here just had to let all my accumulated thoughts of the show out somewhere and if this doesn't make sense at some part then try make sense of it i'm too lazy to proof read this.
