What a gemstone in the omegaverse genre!
Story:
It tugs at my heartstring to see how much kind-hearted Haruto (alpha) goes to great lengths to patiently care for the bickering Miyabi (omega) whose backstory leads him to despise the privileged alpha.
There are abusive scenes, which adds a serious tone to the story.
Characters:
I think the characters build is very alluring. Miyabi has the emotional scars of being an omega and always tries his best to become an elite student to overcome his fate of being the weak gender. His hatred for alpha is very raw and can be off-putting. There we have Haruto, a kind, handsome,
...
well-heeled, smart alpha. Yes, Haruto might seem to be a generic seme but there is something very genuine about his strong points that makes him loveable rather than distant due to being too good to be true. I have to hand it to the author for creating such a well-rounded character in a believable way.
Art:
The art is really refined. The characters' facial expressions are sublime. The "in-bed interaction" is really hot too, definitely worth the waiting.
Overall:
The story is short and sweet, but not without an emotional ride. It fulfills both style and substance.
Anyone who takes interest in omegaverse should definitely try reading this wholesome story.

I came to read this for the beautiful cover, but the content doesn't live up to its pretty premise.
The whole story revolves around what happened in the abandoned house that day that traumatized Natsugami.
The plot led us to believe that something really bad happened to Natsugami's first love - Aki (e.g: sexual assault) which hinders Natsugami's relationship with his love interest Miyoshi who has confessed to him.
But this turns out to be a misuderstanding and Aki was just having rough sex with his boyfriend!? Like it makes the story turn into some sort of a bad joke... Like if you wanna go with
...
dark, twisted plot (hinting sexual abuse and such) then you should stick with it rather than water down it in a way like: "Oh it was just a misunderstanding. Jokes on you, readers".
This way of storytelling is really bad.... The chemistry between Miyoshi and Natsugami isn't all that great either.
It doesn't make you feel good but it isn't the traumatic, twisted, dark, depressive dose one might be looking for as well.
It's a half-baked story really... What a shame for the pretty cover.... It holds so much potential to be a good read but the writing is so off.

If you have got bored of the typical BL then this could be a change of scene for you!
The art is both beautiful and captivating in that it manages to convey the historical atmosphere of the Edo period.
The story flows nicely and the interaction between characters are really good. The characters all have their own ideals and act upon those. Some chapters have really heart-warming dialogues that really soothe your soul and make you long for a simple but profound relationships like those you can find in this manga.
The diversity in how these stories cultivate aspects of love and other elements of
...
life is what makes me have so much respect for the Japanese's capacity for story-telling and art-making.
Overall, the vibe is a really refreshing and feel-good taste and could make you feel nostalgic somehow.

WHAT AN UNDERRATED SHOUJO!
Story: 10/10
This manga should be a textbook example on how to properly write shoujo regarding characters, loveline and especially COURTSHIP ETIQUETTE. I was worried that the whole manga will be about Sumire being indecisive while Mashiro will always be at her beck and call (this makes the second male lead from other shoujo look like a fool). But thankfully, the author handles the love triangle really well. Sumire and Mashiro did date and shared many precious moments with each other while Rei respectfully supported Sumire. This is what makes the plot stand out. Throughout, there is no childish tug-of-war or the male
...
characters acting possessive and hostile towards each other. Everyone has their chance to express their love and gets the reciprocation they deserve. In a love triangle, one has to go. But the ending is a happy one for everyone involved without making it feel forced for the one being left out.
Characters: 10/10
As I have said, what a textbook example on character buildings. Every character is so humane and mature. Sumire is such a strong and honest person. I love the detail when she revealed her 60-year-old self to Mashiro rather than being evasive. They have good communication and their love was really sweet. Mashiro is a spectacular second male lead. He was direct with his feelings and very considerate of Sumire. If there is a weakness in Mashiro's character buidling, it is that he is too perfect: he always did the right thing the right time. He is a character that NAILS timing:
1) He didn't try to get back to Sumire after she was rejuvenated for the second time, although they met before graduation. He knows the thing between them is too complicated and wants to give both him and her a peace of mind rather than being stubborn like YOU ARE YOUNG AGAIN WHY DON'T WE JUST KEEP DATING.
2) When he reunited with her as an adult, he has good pacing - he appropriately courted her once again rather than acting distant/pretending to have no feelings for her/forcing himself on her.
Although they didn't end up with each other, I believe that he has no regrets. He could calmly move on with another relationship, for he did his best to pursue love and was genuinely reciprocated. He just wasn't her end game, which was fair enough since Rei has always followed Sumi since she was a young kid and selflessly helped her find happiness.
Art: 9/10
Although the art style didn't make a name for itself among other shoujo manga (which was a pity), I think it was good and did justice to the characters. The art style that draws Mashiro really reminds me of Taichi from Chihayafuru. Sumire is convincingly a modest but pretty girl.
Enjoyment: 10/10
In shoujo that involves a love triangle, the ending where the second male lead ends up with someone else always feel undeserved and turns the girl into a "substitute" that pales in comparison to the female lead. This is not the case for Sumika Sumire. I really glad that Mashiro could keep Sumire's image as a sweet and precious time in his youth without ruining his later love life. The story has a really mature approach while still being romantic. The way the author resolves the love triangle in Sumika Sumire is satisfying to me.
Overall: 10/10
It is a shame that Sumika Sumire never earns the popularity it deserves despite being such a sweet, sensible shoujo with magnificient character building. It aches me to see shoujo with male characters who tried hard to act edgy and literally harassed the female lead gets so much hype (aka Namaikizakari, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Keishichou Tokuhanka 007,...)

Story: 10/10
I would say this is the best thriller/mystery manga I have ever read (and I am a frequent reader of this genre so I am saying what this manga offers is exceptional). It just ticks all the boxes for me in terms of what makes a good thriller. I recommend that those who haven't read it should not dive into my review in order to keep a fresh perception, which just makes the enjoyment skyrocket. (at least, it is the case for me). But if you have finished reading it and want to dissect it further, I'll be giving you my two cents.
1) As
...
someone who is prone to predict and assume things, I was overwhelmed by the how things turn out. This is partly because I am not a rigid moralist and I really grow attachment to the characters. So during the time I read this, I was definitely rooting for Rize and Kairi. And the way the characters are linked to each other is amazing.
2) As I have said, I love it when I expect something and it turns out to be another. The story takes many twists and turns. At the beginning, it has a deceptive slice-of-life, romance vibes when we witness the daily life of Rize and her emotions towards Kairi. And the romance part between them is really fiery too. And that the dark psychological kicks in is god-tier for me, very satisfying while still remaining heart-warming and humane. So we got all-in-one story right here.
3) MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: There is hidden foreshadowing right from the beginning and the title that mirror the outcome at the end. And that was so unexpected and so good. I love multi-layered stories!! Like I mean Rize likes Kairi because he feels like her brother - while in reality, her brother as an adult is nothing like her imagination so her imagery of the precious brother actually fits Kairi all along (the kind, warm-hearted person) - who in the end acts as her brother. Say whatttt. And the part when she calls him "oniichan" when they are doing "it" just adds more of a kinky spice in a very effortless way.
Character: 10/10
Very fleshed out. They all have clear characteristics and have their all thoughts and feelings. They are determined to seize their happiness and my heart just bleeds for them.
Art: 8/10
It's sufficient to deliver the story so it doesn't affect the storytelling. Regrettably, I think if the art style is better or the proportion is more fitting to my eyes then this story will be "light of my life, fire of my loin".
Enjoyment: 10/10
Overall: 10/10
I think it doesn't deserve such a low rating. I hope more people would come to acknowledge it because I think if it were to be made into a novel or a film with nice visuals/presentation, it would be such a blast. It's a total hidden gem!! There are thrillers/crime investigation with romance that are much worse (cliche romance, pretentious, flat characters, trying too much to be cool) but have a much higher point !? We live in a society....

Story: 7/10
The story starts off quite heavily because it mentions a "trauma" that leaves the FL unable to have a love life after highschool (spoiler alert: it has sth to do with the ML). But thank god, as the story progresses, they finally have a heart-to-heart talk and resolve it quite satisfactorily.
The story is not particularly new but personally, I still got quite hooked based on 2 things: 1) The ML is definitely my type (visually speaking) and he is quite a decent guy. 2) The conflict between the FL and ML from highschool mentions an aspect that is quite impressive to me. The
...
conflict was a real deal breaker and certainly has a convincing weight on the FL and ML (although it turns out to be a misunderstanding but damn the hurt was so real and damaging). To me, it was quite original and I was shocked witnessing it happened. What Kurose said during that conflict was really realistic and mature and impactful above the scope of "generic romance".
The rest is just the typical situation where the characters could interact with each other and slowly reignite their emotions (which is fine but nothing really novel).
The love rivalry between Kurose and Kaneshiro is quite average and unimpressive to me (tho I feel quite bad for Kaneshiro's circumstances tho).
Art: 9/10
I have seen worse so this counts as good art to me.
Characters: 7/10
The characters are fine and the chemistry between Shirafuji and Kurose from the first few chapters really made me feel sorry for their separation because clearly they really adore each other from the flashback of their highschool time. The tone was quite light-hearted so the romance is not really fiery. idk how to put it but after the angst passes by, the enjoyment somehow decreases. I guess I wish there would be a more "adult" tone because they are 25 already.
The ML was handsome to my taste so I really appreciate the art, but he's acting pretty reserved and sexless... (not a really realistic portrayal imo). So it kinda detracts from the good things that an "office love" trope could offer. I wish the author could step up their game and heat things up.
Enjoyment 8/10
It can be said to be just a typical, generic manga but I feel quite positive towards this one. I wouldn't normally write reviews but idk I quite adore this manga somehow so I wish more people would read and acknowledge it. It's not the best out there but there are mangas that are worse (so I was a bit sad to see that this one only receives like an average of 7-ish - reasonable but still ;( )
Overall 8/10 (a little bit biased) - if you are bored and have nothing in particular to read then you should check this out once in a while.
