While it is admirable to try to include a character with a disability in a romance designed for a general audience, I think that this manga mostly ends up stigmatizing mental illness. I am conflicted whether it was the author's intention for the manga to come off this way, but it just ended up feeling like the main female love interest was there as a damsel in distress being constantly saved by the allistic protagonist. If you struggled with mental illness, this manga can be quite triggering as it contains pretty explicit images of sh and s****de. It also doesn't help that the disabled female ... love interest in consistently presented through a male gaze.

The first time I saw the anime version of Rahxephon, I quite liked it- it had fantastic art direction, beautiful character designs and decent enough exploration of its characters to feel satisfying. A perfect tone-piece. Manga version, on the other hand, lacks anything that made the anime so special and ends up feeling like pointless drivel that barely has anything to do with the anime in the terms of quality.

Story- 4

The story of the manga differs *significantly* from the anime-, especially in the latter half. Changes made to the storyline are absolutely devastating- the story does not give enough time to explore any of the ... characters properly- most of them you won't know anything about unless you have watched the anime.The last three chapters are only the only slightly better parts and carry some emotional weight.

Characters- 3

The main protagonist Ayato is just a stereotypical anime protagonist with basic motivations to do what he does best, - fight in the mecha. That basic motivation is his girlfriend Reika Mishima, which is another jarring thing about the manga version- her whole design and personality do not even remotely resemble her anime counterpart, and she ends up just being this pretty submissive female character. Other characters are basically just a bunch of faces who spout dialogue with barely any depth to speak of.

Art- 3

Only a couple of characters look great, and that is mostly because they resemble the designs from the anime. Designs that do not resemble the anime are very, very poor- Reika, who had one of the best character designs ever in her anime form, here in the manga looks beyond stereotypical. Also, it does not help that there is a lot of pointless fanservice- upskirt shots or just body-tight female outfits that serve no purpose whatsoever and often appear at the most inappropriate moments. Mechas look similar to anime and are overall OK.

Enjoyment- 3

I had difficulty paying attention since I stopped caring about the characters, and I am not sure if manga deserved my attention. Overall, the complete contrast to the anime in the terms of enjoyment- I binge watched all of it throughout one week, but here it took me three weeks to finish it since I found it either boring or insulting to the intellect. The last couple of chapters are the only ones that had my attention but are barely worth it.

A jarring anomaly that barely resembles the fantastic anime show it is based on (or is anime based on the manga- I found conflicting information regarding this). Overall, I do not recommend it to anyone- go watch Rahxephon the anime, and do not touch the manga. I feel sorry for the trees that were wasted so this could be printed.

I think that the word 'myth' is the only word in English language that can describe The End of Evangelion. I have never seen a movie so dense and filled with detail, substance and number of interpretations you can have of it. This is not a movie as much it is a myth- everyone has their unique perspective on it, which you need to have since this movie begs for interpretation, discussion and analysis. It is simply a movie you need to see it- even if it does not appeal to you on the emotional level or artistic level, it is as much as emotional ... piece as it is a piece of anime history. So, here comes the breakdown of my reasoning for loving this movie:

Story 10/10
The End of Eva's story isn't so much of a story as it is an experience. The pacing of the movie is downright perfect, often rapid, providing you with enough answers to questions raised in Neon Genesis, while leaving a few blanks for you to think about. I think this is a excellent choice, so that it lets you think about it for a long time after watching did and hey- if movie gave you answer to every aspect of Eva... there wouldn't be as much of a discussion as there is now. The first episode's story is a great setup to the emotional dissection of Shinji's character and worldview in the second episode, which has a powerful message, but I don't think that the message it delivers is as great as the way it delivers it- it is told with such conviction that it leaves you speechless. Oh, and the ending- perfect, ending in the same cryptic manner as the ending of the last two episodes and leaves you with even more questions, which you can find answers to if you pay close attention. Actually, this ending isn't very vague- if you pay attention to visual metaphor present in the appearance of Asuka (or is it really Asuka? Or is it a combination of Shinji's... *TOP SECRET*) in the ending scene, as well as Shinji's reaction. Excellent pacing, provides enough answers to be satisfying and is an excellent emotional thrill-ride.

Art 10/10
Everything in Eva looks realistic enough to go hand in had with our own world while having enough mystic elements such as Evas themselves. Background art is very well drawn and the color design is excellent- actually it is so dense with detail that you won't notice all of it if you watch it in shi**y Manga Entertainment DVD release! Eva units look fantastic and did get a slight visual overhaul- and that second part of the movie... symbolism, uniqueness and ability to leave audience speechless. Every shot's art is absolutely perfect.

Animation 10/10
Hihgly detailed and has a weight to it. Extraordinary examples are Asuka's fight with MP Evas and Third impact scene.

Sound 10/10
Sound effects (for the Japanese version, we will discuss English language disgrace later) are excellent and very detailed and sound realistic. One of the highlights is the Asuka's fight with MP Evangelions. Soundtrack is breathtaking, by far my favourite soundtrack ever- every single track is filled with atmosphere and provides a unique experience. Highly recommend getting it on its own.

Voice acting (Jap) 10/10
To be brief, every line of dialogue is said with conviction and you can feel that voice actors sympathize with the characters.
English (03/10)*
Oh my... everyone's performance is awful, so much so that I urge you to even if you suffered through the original show's dub you simply skip this one and watch it in Japanese. Even some of the English voice actors are recast and this somehow makes experience worse and dub seems not to have same level of information as the original Japanese does and there are liberties taken with the script itself which ruin the atmosphere of certain scenes. And like that wasn't bad enough, sound effects are replaced in certain area and these are beyond awful (if you do not believe me listen to the commentary of English voice actress in the audio commentary. You will be shocked!). Some scenes in English dub have extra dialogue and I personally think this was also a choice which is jarring at best, unbearable at worst. In short: WATCH THE SUB.
*English dub is so awful in my opinion that I will ignore it for the final score.

Characters 10/10
Every character's climax is excellent, starting with Shinji whose journey is one of the fiction's finest. Same can be said for Misato, Ritsuko and Gendoh, who all get satisfying conclusions. Their internal conflicts are very well presented and convincing.

Enjoyment 10/10
I was able to sympathize with the movie on a very deep level and even after watching it is still in my mind and I love to discuss it as much as I like to watch it.

One of anime's greatest masterpieces. Simply a movie that has to be seen to appreciate anime as a genre. One of humanity's greatest achievements in the aspect of art.

Since I was very young I had a great amount of cartoons and anime I had enjoyed but no other anime, or to be more precise- a manhwa, has ever had such impact on me as a child. I had watched all of it from the start to finish for at least five times and it broke my heart to find out that the Kanal D, the broadcaster for the tiny country of Serbia, where I was watching it was shut down. But looking back at it, I am ultimately shocked at how great and underrated this show is- how is it possible that this ... is not at least fansubbed in English?!

Story- 10/10
Story of the Hamos The Green Chariot starts fairly simple, by giving you the introduction to the planet of Terra who saw much tragedy and pain, then it introduces you to the crew of the Hamos, probably the coolest tank I had seen, ever, who are about to embark on a journey to pay the bills for the orphanage by finding the seven crystals. The story adds layer upon layer as it progresses toward the epic tale of saving the Terra, and it becomes sometimes even surprisingly dark for something marketed towards children and has a fantastic coming of age touch to it and fills you with hope. It can be dismissed as a typical save-the-world kind of story, which, depending on your perspective, it can be, but the way it is told with convincing and humanistic characters is fantastic and it really makes you cheer for the cast! My only problem with it is that some parts of it are rather cheesy- like very, very cheesy, but these moments are brief and it had not distracted me from the epic tale it is telling.
The story almost fundamentally changes from episode 10 when the mecha element is introduced- Rick gets his own robot, the Patron, which looks fantastic and is memorable.

Art- 10/10
Hamos' art style is fantastic- the landscapes and the scenery is extremely diverse, ranging from barren deserts to megacities. Character designs are great and are very distinctive- Rick's character's design is probably one of the most distinctive designs I had seen in animation and Gutpo is the best robot ever- because he has a robotic mustache! The design of the chariot (the thank) itself is very cool, very memorable. I think that the art's major strength is its diversity, as mentioned before, in landscapes to the character designs. Mecha designs are very memorable and the scene of Rick entering the patron is in my opinion, iconic.

Animation 10/10
Animation is highly detailed, has a weight to it and is very expressive. Action scenes stand out as one of the finest from the 90s and the character animation outside from action is also fantastic. There wasn't a moment when it felt badly animated.

Sound- 10/10
The original Korean opening theme 'Rick's Theme' sung by Girl is beyond fantastic- even without knowing the lyrics it conveys a fantastic sense of emotion and is extremely hopefully, like it is telling you 'Have faith in the Earth, the shining tomorrow shall bring you hope!' and it is used even as a background music, and every time it is used, it creates a magnificent blend with the scene and makes it even more memorable. Other music is also great- for example, Mary Hunter's theme is excellent, appears at the right time and feels appropriate. Other music is slightly less memorable, but it gets the job done. Sound effects stand between great and ok, but they serve their purpose. Japanese intro theme 'Looking for the Rainbow' by Humming Bird is OK, and interestingly, the Serbian opening sequence is actually using the instrumental of this rather then of the original 'Rick's theme'! Serbian opening theme is good, but it has some childish lyrics (example: 'from the one side there are villains and from the other brave kids' (?!)). Ending Korean theme is good, but disappointing compared to the opening. In Serbian dub, opening theme is re used as the ending theme.

Voice acting- 10/10
Serbian dub is pretty good, considering that it was done by complete amateurs, with some exceptions, which are some villains- the hologram scene at the end of the first episode is an example of this- the laughter there is very, very cringe-worthy... Rick's actor is great, so is Gutpo's and Bora's- who sounds a lot like Rei Ayanami to me. Only issue is the pronunciation of Gutpo's name- in Serbian dub they call him 'Gotpo', which is incorrect if you compare it to the way he is called in the Korean version. Overall a good, but ultimately a mixed bag. I can't speak to much for Korean since I haven't listened to much of Korean voice acting, and I can't speak for the Japanese side of things since I can't find the Japanese version anywhere.

Characters 10/10
If you haven't understood yet, I love the cast- they all have human feeling to them and are a very fun characters to watch, especially Hamos' crew. Rick is a great main character, has a childish side to him, which makes him a fun character to watch, Gutpo is a great supporting figure to the rest of the crew and acts as a voice of reason and has a interesting past. Bora is a mystery at the beginning and reminds me of that particular girl with blue hair and red eyes but gets a substantial depth to her character as show progresses. Villains, starting with the main ones, Chuck and Nero are actually great and have motivation for their actions and don't appear as evil as it seems at the beginning. Chuck (I think that's how you write it in English?) is a particular example of this as his character gets a surprising twist by the end of the show and makes him one of the best characters. Nero is good and also has some depth. Other characters include Merry Hunter, great sidekick who also has a revelation. Only miss is Roto, who ends up looking childish and useless most of the time but he is great for comedic moments.

Enjoyment- 10/10
I had a great time with every single minute of it. I loved the action, character interactions, mystery and development of characters. Show has a great sense of adventure and mysticism.

Overall- 10/10
One of the most shockingly underrated shows ever- truly a shining emerald everyone had forgotten about, but in the hearts of the few, you will be remembered forever, as you head into the desert sunset, Hamos the Green Chariot.
