What's Good :
Kaiju no. 8 offers an interesting plot about Kaiju, who randomly(?) appear on Earth and wreak havoc, and the military, the Japanese Kaiju Defense Force tries to wipe them out, in the sense that the origins of either are shrouded in mystery and seem worth digging into! We also don't know why one of the Kaiju chose the protagonist Kafka Hibino and proceeded to transform him into one.

The anime establishes a decent foundation for people to get hooked on the Kaiju lore. The world-building is not the best I would say but it offers something fresh, a new spin on something ... we may have seen before in anime such as Neon Genesis Evangelion (with the EVAs and Angels) and Attack on Titan (with the obvious mystery surrounding the Titans' origins).
This 'new spin' is the protagonist, Kafka Hibino himself. He is nobody special, he is the most painfully average guy in the series, in every aspect, with no talent, he is admitted into the JKDF not because he exploits his powers, he does it fair and square through his knowledge of having studied the Kaiju closely, as he worked as a sweeper before, sweeping off their remains. He passes the exams for JKDF not on the very first try but after a decade of trying.
He is the oldest there, a thirty-something-year-old with teenagers and young adults.

His situation might remind you of a young Naruto, a true underdog with a powerful yet troublesome entity 'helping' him survive (an untamed Kurama in Naruto's case, and the weird Kaiju in Kafka's case.) The good thing is that I don't see Kafka's mystery leading him to be revealed as a deity reincarnated. The anime firmly establishes him as an ordinary individual in extraordinary circumstances. Also unlike in Naruto (No hate for Naruto, it's one of the greatest anime ever), Kafka's closest friends help him grow and not drag him down.

The central antagonist (a shapeshifting humanoid Kaiju) reminds me of the antagonists of Jujustu Kaisen, and how odd and menacing they are. The JKDF is also not a straightforwardly good organisation, which adds some layers to the story, reminding me of the Black Order from D-Gray Man.

What's NOT GOOD/ Bad:
I think what's not good and sometimes straight-up bad, is the fact that at least in the anime I don't feel any urgency and a real sense of stakes, I never felt that some major character on screen could die in the ongoing mission. That's disappointing because Kaiju no. 8 is very clearly inspired by AoT and JJK yet it lacks any sense of worry and something big being at stake.

This season covers the Black Dragon Arc of the manga, which is a great arc and was very well received, the anime hasn't made any mistakes in covering the Black Dragon Arc as of yet! The animation is immaculate, Taiju the 'villain' here looks absolutely intimidating, and our crybaby Hero is as persistent as always, and this time he makes the biggest decision he has made yet!

There is a decent amount of action here in the second season, but it is not at all drab or tasteless, the second season picks right off the first season without wasting time, and has continued to impress ... me up till this point.

I have finished watching 8 episodes of this season, and by this time, you would be amazed by the entry of a certain grand character who is known for turning tides every time he comes on the scene!

If you are even slightly interested in Tokyo Revengers I would recommend you watch this season without hesitation, you will come to know more of a very interesting story, and would definitely be moved by how the MC handles yet another seemingly hopeless situation.
