A modern television masterpiece is what this show is. Very few television shows, let alone longer than 13 episodes, are so well built, thought out and whole as this one and to top it all even the animation and sound production values are on a par with today's standards.
A very recommended show to everyone, and a must watch for lovers of epic dramas, romances and adventure.
Nadja is a young orphan girl who sets out of her orphanage to seek her family origins around europe of the early 20th century, armed only with her mother's party gown, journal and heart shaped brooch. She joins a traveling
...
performance group and mutually falls in love with a young nobleman whom she meets along the way.
Nadja's personal and private journey is about to end up as an affair to fascinate all of europe, royalty and working class alike. But two steps back - as opposed to the later half of the series, it begins in a rather light note which seems to be radiating, easy going, cheerful and impossibly optimistic - all flows out of the titular character's beliefs and way of view.
Some of those episode might be misleading as the show's main core is very hard, almost ruthless intense drama. Some viewers might need to hold themselves down while the show sets up its world and premise, but they would be rewarded beyond compare.
The writers, and voice actress Ami Koshimizu, made an excellent work with fleshing out Nadja's character. I found her fascinating and a character to look up to, she is very strong willed, brave, thoughtful, humble and kind hearted. I was surprised at how deeply her ideals and beliefs are tested and challenged as the series progresses.
While Nadja is the most examined character throughout the show, she is accompanied by an impressively large cast of unique characters from different countries, social classes and economic levels.
There are almost no stock characters or stereotypes, each background character stands by its own right and almost all of them are being treated as seriously as a main character in a every other show. They have strong dilemmas and a distinctive take on life, they easily receive amazing closures, conclusions and catharsis.
Other than the excellent writing, the direction is also very precise. Each frame is carefully crafted and there's an impressive weight to light, shadows, colors and compositions. Takuya Igarashi (Ouran High School Host Club, Soul Eater) is the one to be thankful for and now everything he touches is automatically in my watchlist.
To sum it up i can not stress enough how amazing this show is and how important it is for it to be more known and popular. If you're thinking even a little about trying it out then by all means GO FOR IT.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy your journey.

Totally messy action movie with sci-fi, comedy and a bit of romance thrown in. It has potential but eventually the story organization is so bad it's just gonna leave you confused and exhausted.
From scene one it's hard to tell who the main character is, there is a protagonist but the screen time is divided between his sidekicks and the bad guys as well so there are lots of characters which gets needlessly confusing. To make it worse most of them aren't really interesting or important.
At the 1st half the story is shallow yet fun, the bad guys want to kidnap the hero's girl and the
...
good guys try to protect her. her memory was long erased and the movie starts with her believing the hero, her ex lover, is her father and he plays along with it. this was an interesting story line which disappointingly didn't reach a climax to wrap it up.
The last act of the story is incredibly scattered and lacks of reason, just one big wtf full of deus ex machina and there are maybe 4 "final boss" fights. It gets to a point, several times indeed, that is laughably weird and effortlessly explained.
The over all production was actually fine, I love the art and coloring of characters and locations, character design of both good and bad guys were nice, the animation is good and also the music had a nice trashy 80s feel to it to fit the cyberpunk mood.

A very problematic show worth more for its historical value rather than the entertainment. the over all premise of the show is generally intriguing, intense, sweet and romantic but the whole potential is going to waste. I'd really love to see a new series that would try to bring this story to life.
I've watched it now for the 1st time so there was no nostalgic appliance for me. The show has an extremely episodic structure, and past the first 3 episodes there's no importance to the order you're viewing them, including the final episodes!
I myself got fed up with the show's static and unprogressive nature
...
around episode 12 and skipped to 37 - I was amazed at how much nothing was changed storywise, and it seemed like a smooth continuation of where I left off. The last episode's later moments does have a small dramatic turn of events but it's way too little and way too late to be respected.
The monster of the day episodes, which are probably 100% of the show, are watchable and some has ok ideas but they have no effect on the story and they are all repetitive (monsters arrive, Devilman beats everyone, everything comes back to normal - Miki doesn't find out Akira is Devilman). Also, an average episode contains an unlimited amount of inconsistencies, questions left unanswered and plot holes.
Regardless of the story's undevelopped mess the show's strong side is its character balance and chemistry. I liked Akira and Miki's general archetypes. He might have been too aggressive for his own good, unlikely for modern shounen heroes, but Miki had the upper hand and Akira was hers.
On the visual department I actually like the art style although it failed to maintain its quality and the animation and movement is laughable, but you should expect that and besides it's the least of the show's problems.
P.S. I must say i got along quite well with the HK rips if you're looking for English subtitles.

Watched it for the sake of the shounen ai but found there was almost nothing about it, on the other hand the art, visual language and animation of the episode were jaw dropping! This weird 30 minutes of an episode is a trippy action packed dramatic almost nonsensical hard to understand journey that does little in trying to explain itself. Sometimes it bores, other times it grips you hard to the screen. I'd recommend trying to watch the first scene and to chose from that if it interests you to complete the viewing, the fan-service driven promotional poster certainly doesn't do that piece of enigma
...
justice.

The first half of the show was very sweet, enjoyable and promising. It was surprisingly romantic and I very much enjoyed the chemistry between the two leads. In the show's second half, more and more supporting characters got crowded in, the main couple's focus became fuzzy and the story started to drift around and lose its purpose and became less interesting.
Looking back on the show as a whole there was a story they wanted to convey and I can understand it and its emotional core, but it's too bad the later episodes weren't written as well as the foremost.
I love the main couple's

art and design, animation started out good bet went downhill later.

Just an awful movie, non sensical character development, no rational story, characters come and go from scenes with no rational explanations, relationships are done badly, bad convey of world and atmosphere, weak character motivations, I was only suffering through this, sorry I watched it!
