I have to be honest, MyAL is getting a lot more negative over the past few years that I have been using it. This anime is definitely above a 7 and less than an 8, which is why I gave it an 8 (because the reviews were just so negative).
There is a lot to like about the series. It introduces you to a world that is quite different from what you'd typically see in a shounen anime. Furthermore, there are a lot of themes that this anime explores that are never explored in other anime; the content of its first season is surprisingly relevant to
...
modern political problems.
The story starts off as showing the the world divided between Magicians and the "Inquisition". The theme is very reminiscent of One Piece, in the sense that you are rooting for the Magicians who are _against_ the law in a certain sense.
We are introduced to "Seth" a burgeoning young magician who has a mysterious past, and uses is power in a different way to most magicians. Seth sets off on a journey to find a way to defeat the "monsters" that attack people once and for all. Little does he know that his resolve is going to be altered significantly; everything is not what it seems.
Radiant is an anime that reminds me a lot of how Naruto, Fairy Tail and other greats started off - small and with a growing cost of characters.
The only problem with this particular season is that it has a lot of filler episodes that make things a little annoying. I think that this will be remedied in the next season, so I hope you can bear with this season for the next one.
I enjoyed this season, and I strongly look forward to the next season that the anime has in store. So please, don't give into the haters, and give this anime a chance. Its interesting, funny, slightly insightful and something that you can definitely relax to.

Kekkai sensen is a rather weird anime to write a review about. Its an anime that makes little sense from start to end, but its one of those anime that makes you *feel* something. The sensation is rather hard to explain.
Lets start with the story. It makes no sense, and although there is *some* effort on the part of the directors to make some semblance of what is going on, even at the very end, you have no real clue what is going on. The story essentially centers around a the boy protagonist, Leo. He just magically receives a magic pair of eyeballs out of
...
nowhere and for no reason. Furthermore, the eyesight of his disabled sister had to be taken in order for him to receive such powers.
Never, anywhere in the story is this phenomenon explained. Furthermore, the story diverges a lot. There really does not seem to be a central line of progression, or perhaps there was just too much story to unpack in just 12 episodes.
The story for me, just doesn't do it. Its all the other stuff that makes this anime fun to watch.
The art and sound, are what you'd expect from a studio like Bones. Its damn near perfect although I do feel that there is a tad too much music in this one. I guess what they are trying to capture is the feeling of New York with rap songs and classic jazz bar songs. One could say that it does indeed add to the environment of the situation Leo finds himself is. Like the music, its both interesting and at the same time totally chaotic. The battle scenes are fluid, and beautifully drawn. One gets a real feeling that this is a hand crafted anime, unlike some of the modern CGI heavy battle scenes that you see today.
The characters are neat. You definitely are rooting for Leo, and the other characters do get *some* background to them. But the development of these characters are not properly paced. The magic system is also kinda "just there". Again, a lot of things make little sense, but there is some interesting dialogue, and funny things do indeed happen. There are some scenes that really make you consider things, by being mysterious, but since the plot is rather confusing, you don't always understand their significance.
I'd say that this is an enjoyable anime. You do root for the characters involved and you really enjoy the battle scenes. It makes no sense though, so not a 9 for me. I'd say this is a solid 8, due to the good art, music and overall direction.

This anime makes no sense since they try to meld the sengoku period, with international powers, with magic, as well as technology. If you are as confused as I am, then that is the anime in a nutshell.
The story is non-existent. Please don't misunderstand this to mean that its a bland story, there is no story. There is no plot, there is no progression, and it is so utterly confusing that it makes no sense whatsoever.
The characters are cardboards. There is nothing more to say, they really have nothing distinctive.
The sound is mediocre and the art is decent. I can't really complain about the art,
...
the only saving grace of this anime.
In simple terms, do not watch this. Its rubbish.

I think its rather easy to underestimate this anime. I think the primary reason is because people are expecting a single cour anime that will get things over with. However, this is not the case with this anime. It progresses slowly, but it builds the characters and the world step by step.
Its trying to do a lot. Its trying to be shounen and romance at the same time. It is trying to simultaneously write the heroic journey of two people, and that takes time.
My advice is that you will enjoy this anime more and more as the show continues to progress, and as the characters
...
are chiselled out from dull simplistic identities to characters with nuances. Managing to this, i.e. making an anime for the long haul and focusing on slowly fleshing out the relationships is difficult and takes time.
This reminds me a lot of Steins;Gate. I hated the first 10 episodes. But later on it got so good that I couldn't stop watching. I still haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I sure hope that the anime series continues to improve both its characters and its story line.
8/10.

Holy Shit! What the hell am I watching? I'm going to stop watching it right now actually and write a review about it.
This anime had so my hype surrounding it that I simply had to watch it at some point. But it is a disappointing watch, where the ends are not justified by the means. The premise, the plot as well as the ending make little to no sense. Lets get the good stuff about the anime out of the way so that I can give you a lasting impression of what you *should* be walking away with (which is how really bad it is).
-
...
Art (9/10)
The Art did not leave me wanting more. There was very little CGI involved in the film, especially in action scenes, and if there was (which escaped my notice), it was probably quite trivial. Either way, the art is fantastic, a crazy tonne better than what DEEN did with Log Horizon, but thats another rant for another time.
- Sound (10/10)
The music is beautiful. Really, it has a sort of elegance to it that so many anime with musical components simply miss out on. The very first song is so very soothing, and in a way so bleak that it perfectly describes the premise of what is happening. Truly marvelous sound-track. Its so good, that I'd say that its second only to FMA's sound tracks.
- The Bad (Story 1/10, Character 1/10)
GC is what happens when you have a small budget but a disproportionate amount of hype. These guys tried to do everything, put a little bit of Code Geas, mixed in with psuedo-harem and fan-service as well as robots, amnesia and whatever else felt cool at the time. Like Dystopian shit.
GC is a dystopian story (not really) about an idiot of a boy (called Shu) who forgot everything that would make solving all the problems presented a 1 episode thing and his gang of friends, or should i say people who just got stuck with him. The story is so generic and so badly executed that I'm not going to get into the specifics of why it sucked. But the storytelling suffers from a chronic lack of coherence. Shit happens out of nowhere, robots just come in out of convenience, vaccines are supposedly cures now, the main love interest supposedly sings in a band, but the other members seem to be non-existent. Like what gives?
Don't get me wrong, I *love* generic stories. I'm a huge Naruto, Bleach and FT fan. But man oh man! Nothing made sense in this anime. Furthermore, the second part of the anime was so completely different from the first that I felt as though I was watching a different anime directed by a different director all together. Pace accelerates (which is good), but it gets so fast that the story essentially becomes bits and pieces sewn together. No real character development ever occurs throughout the series, but the second half is an abomination.
