Welcome, ninjas~
私はケイトリンです。どうぞよろしく!
I'm a first year Japanese/World Literature and Cultures/ Tourism major who loves music, nature, travel and all that jazz. Totally a cat person. Meow~
My anime taste is... quite niche. I'll easily give up on shows, because as much as I adore anime, I don't like to waste my time on things that I'm not enjoying just for the sake of having a larger anime repertoire. I'm getting more tolerant, though. X3
That said, I would describe the types of anime I enjoy to be those which have a good story, dark elements, room for analysis, probably a good helping of symbolism, good character development, and yes, I can be a sucker for scenery porn! XD Music is also a big factor! Coming for a music analysis background, I'm always listening to even the smallest details of sound in anime.
I'm a complete sucker for shows that have a fantasy/fairy-tale setting. Especially one which subvert a heck of a lot of the archetypal tropes and character norms.
Heeeeence, you can see that my two current favourite animes are Princess Tutu and Revolutionary Girl Utena.
I'm also a sucker for openings. They're a make-or-break thing for me with an anime. A good opening sums up the entire feeling (and sometimes narrative!) of the show, whereas a bad one is skippable and often says something about the show's production values.
Sadly, I'm a relative anime noob. I've only been watching for a little over a year, so I've got a long way to go before I can call myself an expert on anime. So any recommendations of anime/manga/music/awesome stuff in general that anyone would like to share would be much appreciated.
If you've read all of the above rambling, then high-five, have a symbolic cookie :3
