My rating system is inconsistent and biased, but generally it goes like this:
1-4: Few redeeming qualities. Don't have many in this category, because I will probably quit the series if I think it's too bad from the start and I don't like giving a lot of incomplete reviews.
5-7: There were many flaws but I somehow got past them? Might not be in line with my preferences, but I can see why other people liked it.
8: Solid series, worth checking out and would honestly recommend to most people but I recognize some of the criticism and it probably had one or two moments where I questioned its direction.
9: VERY GOOD, like an 8 but with more emotional investment and fewer criticisms.
10: Rewatch, entertainment and overall quality of the series is excellent from both a personal and (somewhat) objective perspective.
*pokemon is a whole 'nother moster though, just know that it controls my life and I can't give much objective criticism on it.
*also important to note that my ratings are given at the time of completion; so it's likely that if i rewatch it, i will have a different opinion on it (hahaha like with code geass)

My tastes are varied, but I tend to gravitate towards shounen and jousei series. The biggest factors I look into for entertainment value are good characters, consistent writing/theme, and a good overall message. Not a fan of dark gritty series that are cruel just for the sake of it.
I have a weak spot for the Jerk with a Heart of Gold and Tragic White Haired Anime Boys.
