This film was the start of a shift in the series. It went from being one that was focused on the frantic task of having to save the world, to one built around the pursuit of power. It takes everything you know about the Dragon Ball world and turns it on its head, completely changing the Dragon Ball series forever. It was the start of a new era.
The most redeeming thing about this film is that even while it is trying to create this situation where you know the world is in this constant state of danger because of the nature of Beerus, it doesn't

Dragon Ball Super: Broly
(Anime)
add
Dragon Ball has made a major shift since they revived the series with Super. The story has shifted from being one about simply protecting the Earth to being one about the pursuit of power. Another shift has been the relationship dynamics between Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza. This movie is ultimately about building that relationship between the 3 while also continuing this unending pursuit of power.
The motivations behind the fighting are completely trivial, which has become the main theme of the series. Nothing matters, and yet everything does. Super has shown that the motivations being meaningful actions can be miniscule at best. But that works to ... Nov 9, 2021
Trigun is a show that goes underappreciated as an all-time great. It has one of the absolute best protagonists in anime history, Vash the Stampede. It's the ultimate story of a person whose reputation precedes them. Vash is this optimistic, nice guy in the dog-eat-dog world of the wild west, making him a complete deviation from the kind of people that world creates.
Vash's nice guy nature causes people to completely mistake him for someone who is incompetent, allowing them to put their guard down just enough to be unable to capture him for the handsome bounty. Though, they're likely not good enough to capture him ... Nov 9, 2021
It's about time we get a buddy cop anime. This felt like if Netflix took that theme and put an anime spin on it. I'm very privy to police shows on TV, so this show piqued my interest. This is another show that I think suffers from the dreaded "too short" designation. The world is incredibly interesting. But they only had 12 episodes to build it out. This ultimately makes the story feel rushed, which takes away from it. If this show had been 24 episodes, they could've really done more to not only teach you more about the setting, but also flesh out the

Bem is a remake of the original Youkai Ningen Bem series from the late 60s. I'm generally not a fan of remakes, but this was a very strong show. The world they created was really interesting. It had this film noir style, reminiscent of the Batman TAS from the 90s. I also really liked how they developed the characters throughout the series. They wanted you to become invested in the world, and I definitely felt it. Unfortunately, the story felt rushed because of the brevity of the series. The original series was 26 episodes long. I think this series should've mirrored that in order to

I thought I would not like this show when I first heard about it. The reviews were mixed, and many people criticized various elements of this show. But when I started watching it, I found myself much more enthralled than I expected. I figured this would be your typical isekai harem anime. But it proved to be much more than that.
The biggest thing that drew me to the show is the protagonist. His nihilistic and cynical nature make him a much more interesting and believable character than what you see typically. He's very much an antihero, and his attitude I find pretty cool. Most protags ... Oct 10, 2021

I would describe this show as "run of the mill". It's not good. It's not bad. It's like the author tried to make the safest isekai story they possibly good. Put some harem in there. Put a forgettable male protagonist in there that viewers can project themselves over. It's the definition of average.
I thought I liked this show a lot at first. I thought it would surprise me with the story developments and character types. But the show instead opted to just give you everything you've ever seen before. It like watching a mystery movie, but you already know who did it. It takes away ... Oct 10, 2021
Most school harem anime tend to have the same characters and storyline developments. Not Hensuki. This show takes the genre and turns it on its head. It tosses in the twist that each of the girls pursuing the main character has a secret fetish. This likely turned a lot of people off, but I actually thought that made the show stand out from the crowd.
Many shows attempt to use a fetish as a gimmick to get a laugh or two and then get back to the standard fan-service. But Hensuki normalizes these fetishes, and uses them as the main plot device. This creates characters that ... Oct 10, 2021

If you're acquainted with the isekai genre, you know about its repetitive nature. Many shows have the same premise and lack originality in terms of the progression of characters and the story. This show is different.
Instead of being simply a show about a guy being trapped in another world as an overpowered character, it takes the approach of Overlord, and makes the main character be more interested in the growth and development of his settlement. I appreciated the effort for this show to limit the confrontation the main character was engrossed in, to avoid making this show simply a power fantasy. The rest of ... Oct 10, 2021
Holy hell. What a chore to watch. This is one of those shows that starts with an interesting premise, but then completely abandons it and all logic for constant fan-service and bad jokes. This was an incredibly difficult show to finish.
The main characters are your basic brother/sister complex pair. The side characters are annoying and forgettable. I honestly don't think I liked anyone in this show. It was a chore getting through the endless bad attempts as humor and the creation of conflict. The worst part though was the art. I'm not an animation snob. I don't need Bones to animate a show in order to ... |
