Have you ever watched an anime with a young boy as the protagonist, and you have to watch through his journey to accomplish something while evolving as a person, but at the same time there’s another character way more interesting and likable, which is probably older and already “complete” as a person, and you wish you could watch his anime instead of the actual protagonist’s?
Well, I constantly find myself in that situation, mainly in Shounen anime, but happens in other genres as well.
*If I had to give an example, I’d say Bungou Stray Dogs*
Watching Vinland Saga, I finally had the opportunity to watch the
...
story of that other character. When I first started watching the show, I had this feeling that it was having a really good start, but would soon turn into a generic revenge tale, with a not very memorable main character, but then it happened! Our real hero, Askeladd, appeared and, luckily, punched the protagonism right out of the generic dude, and took it for himself, making a very good use of it. He’s a great antagonist, and throughout the entire show, was the most reasonable character, which is probably the main thing that makes him likable, despite being “evil”. The story is very well paced, and everything is shown when it has to be. All the decisions made by the characters and the turns the story took are well done and believable… Well, if you can accept that they’re all some kind of super heroes, with inhuman strength and speed.
The animation is great, and the music too, which includes both the OP’s & ED’s.
And honestly, I don’t even want a second season.

This is not much of a review itself, it is more of a recommendation of a fairly nice and relatively old anime, which I think is really underwatched for its value. Not the best thing you will ever see, but definitely worth a shot if you're fond of Slice of Life anime. There is actually nothing that stands out so much about the story itself, but the characters are nice and it manages to be a very heartwarming show to see.
You can choose to watch either the Movie or the ONA.
Very simple and smoothly entertaining to watch :) 8/10

No Spoilers
The story’s background itself is an interesting one, not great but with potential. However, the show proceeds in the most awful, confusing and cringe way I’ve ever witnessed; it doesn’t just have a cliché, it has all of them, almost everything you can imagine as something regular and overused in anime, Guilty Crown has it too. All the interactions between characters felt cringe or out of place, all the paths the anime took were confusing and at the same time so predictable, all the twists in the story that were a little bit unpredictable just made no sense at all, and it, efficiently, left
...
you with the certainty that everything happened with zero consistency because there would be no story otherwise.
The characters are the most impressive thing from this anime to me. They were the most forgettable team of main protagonists and villains I’ve ever had the opportunity to lay my eyes upon, so forgettable that they actually became unforgettable to me! They’re not bad characters, those at least have impact when they’re in scene, a negative one, sure, but they do have it. Our heroes from Guilty Crown don’t even have that privilege, they would appear in the scenes and I just wouldn’t feel anything, it was like I was watching some tertiary filler character, whom was shown in one episode of a 500 episodes shounen anime, as the protagonist. They don’t bring me any negative or positive reactions; I don’t dislike them but I don’t like them, I don’t root for them but I don’t root against them, I just don’t care about them. They were weightless, it FEELS like I was really just watching some moving drawings doing some random things, they were completely lifeless and unrelatable.
Despite it all, the show actually does have something good; the production. The animation is gorgeous, the design as a whole is pretty good, the action scenes are great, but the best this anime has to offer, (personally) is the music. The OST, including OP & ED, as well as the insert songs, is just amazing, by far the best trait from the show.
Guilty Crown is the worst anime, objectively, I’ve ever seen, but I don’t hate it; it is the most generic anime I’ve ever seen, but not the most dislikable one. And that’s the reason why I watched the entire show, there are many other animes with characters that I hate and despise, or stories that are much more unlikable than this one, which might end up making me “hate” those shows, but not this one. As I said before, it is so forgettable that it becomes memorable.
This is a different kind of bad.
This is something special.

Durarara!! : 7.5 - NO SPOILERS
This is my review from this series as a whole, which means that I’ll be talking about all the four seasons.
Season 1 for me was incredible, the story itself wasn't mind blowing or anything, it was just ok... But the way it was presented made it very fun and entertaining to watch, the characters themselves were pretty much (most of them) amazing too. And at least for me, that is enough to make me love a show. Of course, it didn't have a proper conclusive ending, which ones I’m very fond of, and that's the one and only reason
...
it was not a 9/10 for me... Still, I’d give it a solid 8.5 :)
Seasons 2, 3 and 4... Well, here is where not having an actually GOOD story becomes a problem... For me the good qualities were just... decreased. We start getting introduced to more and more characters. The problem is that they're not nearly as good as the ones we already had, and of course they take some of the screen time, since they're needed for the story to unfold. And that's the main problem for me, the story was not good enough to justify the time I had to spent with those new fellas instead of spending it with the old ones. Along with this, some of the choices made by the two main protagonists happen to have the same problem, they're just stupid, and even though needed for the story to proceed, as I said before... The story's not good enough to justify those actions, so in the end, they're both just idiots.
I'd give Shou and Ten a score of 6.5
And for Ketsu a 7.5 (Since I felt it had a satisfying conclusion)
(8.5 + 8.5 + 6.5 + 6.5 + 7.5)/5 = 7,5 :D
*Season 1 twice 'cause it has 24 episodes
I don't mean to say that the sequent seasons were bad, they still have the same good characters and storytelling from the first one, just not as much. Still, I’d say that if you want to watch season 1 only, that's more than okay. After all, it is the best season!!
*Extra points 'cause of the amazing OP’s and ED’s from this Anime!!
