I'm going to put this at the front so its clear: This is NOT an adaptation of the Visual Novel Maitetsu, this is a spin-off of it. If you wanted an adaptation, this is not it.
The spin-off takes place after the events of Maitetsu, with a handful of Raillords discussing how to create merchandise to make the railway system boom a little more.
Each episode is around 3 minutes long, one Raillord suggests a merchandise idea, you get to see about one or two cute interactions between the Raillords, and that's it. Rinse and repeat.
Why is the score low? Many people coming in
...
to watch this may have been expecting a Maitetsu adaptation, which it is not. The characters are on the bland side: cute, but character development is weak. The art is meh, it's not bad, but it likely had a low budget for a 3 minute episode series. The story doesn't scream "Exciting!" and at the end of the day it will be fairly forgettable.
Is it worth watching? Depends. If you enjoyed the Visual Novel and just want a tiny bit more of the world to nibble on, it's a quick watch and you get some cute interactions. If you haven't read the Visual Novel or didn't like it, it's probably not worth it. It's not like Rail Romanesque is bad or anything, it's just on the generic side and failed to meet the expectations Maitetsu fans were hoping for.

Please note that this manga focuses heavily on a girl and her struggles with having a penis. If that is not your cup of tea, this manga may not be for you. If it is or it doesn't matter to you, great! I highly recommend it. It's cute and wholesome and I loved every minute of it. Not sure? Read on.
Bra Girl (or Swing Girl as it might be called) follows the short story of a girl named Ooi Haruka who is madly in love with a boy who saved her from a train groper, but there's one problem: she has a dick. Yes, in
...
this world there are girls who grow a penis during puberty, and Haruka is one of them. She is very self-conscious, shy, and in a near constant state of lust. This strong sexual desire is a trait that causes a lot of strife and embarrassment for her.
The story mainly focuses on Haruka meeting a group of girls who also have the same trait as her, giving her people to open up to and tackle the difficulties of being a female with a little extra attached. With her new-found friends, she's aiming to be more confident in herself and her body while also finding out the name of the boy she is in love with and ask him out.
The art is very nice and pleasing. If you've ever read Nana to Kaoru also written by Amazume Ryuta, you'll see how similar the art is and the general character designs. The art is great at showing Haruka's emotions, she has a lot of cute facial expressions that made me like her character a lot more than a typical main character.
I truly wish the manga was longer. It clocks in at a measly 8 chapters, so a little over an hour of reading depending on your reading speed. Because of this short length, the characters don't get fleshed out as much as a typical manga. Don't let that discourage you though! Side characters still get a little side story to them so they don't feel like they're there for no reason.
Overall, the series was super fun to read for me. The ecchi comedy worked well, and there wasn't a single character I hated. The short length may help if you're just looking for a quick read, too. If you know your tastes, you should have a good idea by now if Bra Girl sounds interesting to you or not.

You have just become one of the last 4 survivors on Earth after the consistent attack of creatures we have called Phantoms have been slicing up people like deli meat, taking the bodies, and disappearing into thin air. What do you do in this post-apocalyptic world?
Let's take a look at our main characters actions. We get to read and watch them go exploring a world that's been slowly being taken over by nature once again, whether its them casually going through a flooded town, or building a hot tub on top of the building for some night time relaxation. Many of the chapters have
...
a very melancholic feel to them, but they're not allowed to rest all the time. The threat of Phantoms still linger, and they're out to find the last survivors.
As for our characters themselves, we've got the 4 survivors which you'll be spending all of your time with, 1 boy and 3 girls. Each of them has some decent character development for the short 6 volumes this story tells. You're not going to get copious amounts of development from them, but each character is given a story to them.
The art is simple, nothing grandiose, but there's a lot of detail put into the backgrounds and making them look beautiful. There were plenty of scenes were I stopped and just appreciated the view of the world that they lived in. I will say though that the characters suffer from "Same-Face Syndrome." Luckily the characters are far and few between so it's not a problem, but if the characters weren't immediately identifiable by their hair then you'd probably have a hard time telling who is who.
Even though the manga is short, I really really enjoyed it. It gave me everything I wanted and left me feeling satisfied. Obviously I wish it was longer so I could see more of the world and what the author could do with it, but I'm happy with what we got. It's fun, it's relaxing, it's dramatic, it's mysterious.
Chikyuu no Houkago is a great read, and it doesn't ask you for much of your time, so if you want a quick but satisfying story to go through, this is an excellent choice and I highly recommend it.
(First review, hopefully it was good enough to interest some of you into checking out this great work!)
