My name is Uve V. Vawliett.
As you can see, nowadays I don't watch much anime (lack of time and laziness).
Still, is something I'm pretty passionate about. I sometimes watch a movie or even a full series, but it's more likely I'm reading manga.
I participated on some manga contests and still make my own mangas when I have time, which I don't publish.
It's not strange for me to go months without watching or reading a chapter, but I often add a lot of animes to my Plan to watch list. Lol. It's the only thing I can actually do in this site...
Rating criteria:
-4 stars come from technical aspects, such as animation, voice acting, direction or music. They don't need to be perfect, although if they are, it can go up to a 5 automatically.
-1 star goes for entertaining value. If the series is boring, it doesn't recieve it. If the series is boring enough to make it watch it feel like a chore, it can cost the series another extra star.
If a series is entertaining enough and has normal audio, animation, editing and mixing quality, it will be an automatic 5 (average/unremarkable)
-4 points go for the writting, everything from character archs, plot, plot development, pacing (which is corelated with entertaining value), ending, worldbuilding or narrative resources.
-Extra: the series may recieve extra points if I consider it to be earned; this apply in cases of exceptional emotional impact, creativity, uniqueness, or genre-defining qualities among others.
Notes:
Not all series are judged with the same criteria. There are series that put more focus on certain aspects, therefore I'll prioritize those aspects when rating. For example, a slice of life anime usually puts more focus on characters and pacing than worldbuilding or plot. Therefore, those less important aspects will have less of an impact or be completely overlooked.
If a series puts focus or it's main selling point is an aspect that isn't well developed, it will make the rating worst, even if other aspects the writers intentionally relegated are better.
The intention of the artists within the viewers is important when reading a work, therefore it must be taken in account.
The same goes for the technicall aspects, as long as they don't compromise the quality of the series, some aspects may have more weight than others.
However! the 4 points for writting cannot be suplemented with the technical aspects or viceversa: exceptional technical quality cannot compensate for poor writing.
