Disclaimer: This review will be for the entirety of the show, not just this first portion. However, there will be NO spoilers in this review.
I'm going to try my best to keep this an unbiased review, but Haruhi as a show and as a character has helped me on a personal level so that's one reason I love this show so much... the other reason is because it's genuinely a very enjoyable show. Haruhi used to be the Queen of anime, but of course all good things come to an end.

Although, after my most recent rewatching of this show (which I finished last night), I can say that this show has more character development and foreshadowing than I previously realized, definitely in the last four or five episodes. Now, when you get to the Endless Eight arc, at first you'll probably hate it for reasons I'll leave unknown for now. Just, don't give up on the show there. You can just skip the "bad" part and you will miss basically nothing. Personally I love the Endless Eight arc, but it's very understandable if you never grow to like it. Of course, when I first watched this show I also hated the Endless Eight arc, but then I began to like it more and more, and now I love it. Please don't give up on it, give it a chance. Watching this arc will also make Nagato's actions in the movie more understandable.
The art style of this show isn't really anything special, but it's still very appealing; definitely on the Blu-ray. There are some shots that look very good, and then other shots that look like your basic slice of life moe show. But, throughout the entire show, Kyoto Animation has consistent animation and no "bootleg" shots. Of course, some shots are more detailed than others, but that's only when they need to be.
The first opening of this show? Amazing. The visuals and song are both beautiful. You wanna know what's better than the first opening? The second one, with even BETTER visuals and song. Also, the second ending is very nice but probably the worst of all the openings/endings. But, the first ending is what spawned an anime phenomenon. The Hare Hare Yukai dance, or probably more widely known as the Haruhi dance. Easily the most iconic part of the show. Also, the soundtrack for this show is amazing too. The main background song in this show always makes me giddy to hear, and it's actually the first thing you ever hear in episode one. Amazing soundtrack.
Now, the characters. Mikuru Asahina is a clumsy, moe character as Haruhi would put it. She's mostly in the show for fanservice honestly, but she still has some very good moments. Now, Yuki Nagato, she's a very silent and reserved character that only speaks when she needs to. Her design is nice, and she has some amazing moments in the show. While she's quiet, there is Itsuki Koizumi who is more talkative. He's a very polite and mature character, who is in stark contrast to Kyon. Kyon is usually always upset with something, he whines and complains a lot, but trust me his character gets some amazing development towards the end of the show and even more and better development in the movie. He's not exactly unlikable, but he's definitely my least favorite main character. As for my favorite character, that honor goes to Haruhi Suzumiya herself. She's kind of a tsundere type character, but that's not the aspect I like about her. Yes, she's rude, bratty, and to some she may be overwhelming, but the thing I love most about Haruhi and what changed me as a person is seeing her passion. Seeing her seize every single day. Seeing her try her best to enjoy her life, and not worry about being "normal". In the episode "Live Alive", you'll see her get some development though, and it is very heartwarming to see.
All in all, if you like supernatural stuff then you'll probably like this show. If you like slice of life stuff then you'll probably like this show. You might not become a huge fan of this show, but it will definitely be a good, fun, and enjoyable watch. I hope this review helps, and I hope you enjoy the show.

You probably hear many, many, many... many people complaining that Dragon Ball has basically no plot, the story sucks, and Kid Goku is annoying. I'm gonna have to say, being active in the Dragon Ball community for over five years and having seen this show and Z about seven times all the way through, all of those are wrong. I mean, the show doesn't have an outstanding plot or story, but they're enjoyable and fun. explain why it's my favorite.
The story, as I've said previously, is nothing impressive. You probably won't have to put on your thinking caps to analyze some deep, meaningful plot-line, you just get to sit back and enjoy a fun and excited action/adventure shonen show. A lot of fights have amazing choreography, the story is simple but sweet, and the slice of life aspects of this show are just as good if not better. The Red Ribbon Army arc is easily my favorite, it has so many iconic villains, the fights are very entertaining, and it's just such a good time. It's truly an endearing show that I hope you'll enjoy if you decide to check it out.
Now, this section I will probably be very biased, because honestly I'm absolutely in love with Toriyama's art style. It's simple, unique, and to me beautiful. I love seeing fanart of it, and I love seeing the alternate cover pages he puts at the end of the manga. His art style is my favorite out of any other, but of course that's just me, so give this show a try and form your own opinion on the art.
The voice acting? Nothing special and arguably poor (but not for it's time). The soundtrack? Exciting, up beat, feel-good music, makes you wanna dance, always makes me smile when the theme song's instrumental version plays in fights, and the ending song animates a lot of the cover art from the manga and... I know I've already said this about the art style, but I'm absolutely IN LOVE with the ending song/video. The song is nice and sweet, and the video is absolutely spectacular. It's always a good time with the Dragon Ball soundtrack. I have listened to the full soundtrack on loop. I love it. Even if you don't plan on watching this show, check out the soundtrack and see if you like it.
Now, for the characters. Lets start with the second character we ever see in the show, Bulma Brief. I don't wanna say too much about her to keep things a mystery if you're not familiar with Dragon Ball (Which I doubt you aren't because who hasn't heard of this show, but just in case ya know?), but I can tell you that her personality isn't very likable. She complains just about 24/7, always looks on the negative side of things, is rarely happy, really is only happy when she's screwing someone over, etc., but she does have some very good moments, and some spectacular moments. Also, her design in this series (not necessarily Z) is one of my favorite designs in anime. It's so appealing, sometimes not so much, but most of the time it's amazing. Her design was real good when she first met Master Roshi if you know what I mean ;^)... actually you probably don't know what I mean because if you're reading this review chances are you don't know who Master Roshi is because you probably haven't seen the show. Let me enlighten you. Master Roshi is the master of martial arts, as he's called by the public, he's an extremely skilled fighter, despite his appearance. He's also the master of perversion, which leads to many funny moments in the show. Roshi is most likely the inspiration for many perverted old men in anime down the line, such as Jiraiya from Naruto. He's a legendary and underrated character. His moments with Launch are always amusing. Oh yeah, Launch is the women that ends up living with Roshi (You'll have to watch the show to figure out why a girl would willingly live with this man), and in this series she's Dragon Ball's best girl, which is later changed to another character in Dragon Ball Z; I won't spoil who. I might leave that for my Z review ;^). Wanna know my least favorite character in this show? That's right, Yamcha. Yeah yeah, I know it's a huge meme to make fun of him and all that, but he's genuinely a bad character. He does almost nothing for the show and you could take him out and not much would change. He does help in a big way like... once... but that's about it. He doesn't have the best personality either. He's just kind of there to be there, really. Now, the moment you've all been waiting for... the best character in the show... Goku. Goku is a twelve year old boy who was trained by his grandfather in martial arts, but he's not too good with the common sense. He's an extremely innocent and completely pure hearted boy that really just wants to eat and fight strong people. He's a simple character, but a very lovable one. Honestly, every character in this show is lovable in their own way. Yes, even Yamcha... he has SOME good moments. But Goku, he blows all the other characters out of the water. He's hilarious, adorable, endearing, honest, and just a fun person in general. The characters in this show are truly something else.
Wow, the character portion was pretty darn long... sorry about that lol. Anyways, I definitely give this show a 10/10. You guys will most likely have varying ratings, but as I have a personal connection to this show, it has a very special place in my heart. Even without a personal connection, it's still one of the most enjoyable shows I have ever watched in my love. It's so much fun, and I really, really hope you give it a try.

Do you like Ghibli movies? Do you love Ghibli's art style? Do you love Ghibli's characters? THEN DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE
This movie is a series of short stories, so there isn't one story I can talk about. Most of the short stories in this movie are incredibly boring, like, struggling to keep your eyes open boring. There are maybe one or two decent ones, but for the most part, the movie will be making you want to turn it off. get through that one), I would have turned this one off very quickly. The only part of this movie I genuinely like is the song at the end, it's a very fun song and the message behind it is good as well... but that's about all.
I'm a big fan of Ghibli's main art style, but this one... I honestly hate. It's not nearly as bad as Extraordinary Tales's animation, but it's still appalling. I don't like looking at it. You might be a fan of this art style, and that's fine everyone has their own opinion on things, but I personally hate it. That's about all I can say about it.
The voice acting was average, nothing threw me off and nothing impressed me. There isn't much I can say about the sound of this movie so I guess I'll leave it at that.
Now, if you were to ask me which anime has the worst characters in it, I'd most likely choose this movie. They're awful people, they never grow on me, and they never really get any character development. I think I liked one character but I forgot who because the characters aren't memorable. The only character that's memorable is the son, but he's only memorable because he's the worst character in the movie. He's a huge brat, he complains all the time, he does nothing but get angry. I truly hate him. The other characters are "eh" at best.
I guess this was a somewhat short review, but there isn't much to be said about this dreadful movie. I truly hate it and I will never rewatch it. I'm sorry if one of you have seen it and liked it, but in my opinion it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I'm really not trying to offend or hurt the feelings of anyone, I just need to get my point across over how much I hate it. If Extraordinary Tales was on this website I would give it an even worse review, but it's not so rip I guess.

If you're a fan of Akira Toriyama's art style, a fan of wacky gag manga, and/or a fan of adorable, naive characters then you'll love this manga.
The story, being a gag manga and having more of an episodic story, is great almost every time. There are some story-lines where it was starting to bore me, but only like one or two. Also notice I said "starting" to bore me, because it never bored me... it was just getting there. All the other story-lines I'm always engaged in and highly enjoy them. Maybe this is just me, but I'm in love with Toriyama's art style. I love everything about it; it's so pleasing to me. Maybe it's because my favorite show is OG Dragon Ball and I've just been conditioned to love his art, or maybe he truly deserves the credit I give him. Every time at the beginning of a chapter there is a picture of certain characters drawn in a cover art type way, and many times I'm always taken aback by the art. I truly love it so much, and I hope more people feel the same way.
Oh-ho-ho, if you were to ask me what series out of any series that has ever existed that has the best characters in it, I would choose Dr. Slump without hesitation. Most, if not all, characters are amazing in their own way. Arale Norimaki, the main character of this series, is amazingly adorable. Her design is adorable, her personality is adorable, her actions are adorable, she's just straight up adorable. She's my favorite character in this series, and she's my second favorite character in all of fiction (Kid Goku being the first). I'm extremely happy Toriyama's editor told him to make Arale the main character instead of Senbei Norimaki like Toriyama wanted. Senbei is the genius inventor that created Arale in the first place... oh yeah did I not mention Arale is a robot? Well she is, and Senbei created her. Senbei is hilarious, from his serious face to his perversion, he's easily in my top ten characters for this series. It's always hilarious when Senbei tries his best to see girls' panties, namely Midori Yamabuki, the teacher to Arale. Midori is easily best girl in this series (one reason is because she's one of the only of age female main characters in this series, but even if every character was of age, Midori would still be best girl), she's adorable in an adult kind of way, her design is beautiful, and her personality is extremely cute. Besides Arale, another one of Midori's students is Akane Kimidori, the somewhat edgy, cute, and kind of Bulma-like character. If you haven't seen Dragon Ball and don't know Bulma's character, just imagine an overly moody teen that complains a lot, but Akane is more a watered down version of Bulma; she's a much more fun character, but lets not forget about Tsun Tsururin, another amazingly adorable character. Her design is cute, and almost everything she does is adorable; she's an amazing character. Her brother, Tsun Tsukutsun, has a striking resemblance to Yamcha from Dragon Ball, and he's easily one of my favorite characters... probably top five. He's a martial artist, and possibly partly an inspiration for Dragon Ball (Since Dr. Slump was created first).
This series is truly wonderful, and I hope that one day the full sub for the anime will come out on some website; I can't find it anywhere. I got this series from the library to read it, and once I get some money I'm definitely going to buy it to support the series. It's truly wonderful, I love just about every bit of it, and I highly recommend it. You can tell how much passion Toriyama put into this series compared to Dragon Ball, this series is his TRUE baby, not Dragon Ball. Sure Dragon Ball is much larger in scale and in popularity, but that doesn't take away how much he cares for Dr. Slump. Lets face it, Toriyama is just appeasing the fans with Dragon Ball, he probably doesn't even care that much about it anymore. He has so much passion in Dr. Slump, and I really recommend you guys read it and give it a try.
