Anime History
My first time watching anime was with DragonBall Z, as a kid I loved the effects, the battle scenes, and simple story. Anime never got that big where I live so back then seeing something like DragonBall Z was even rare on TV, which only thanks to Sky I was able to watch from an American TV station.
As I grew up I quickly grew out of anime, I instead fell in love with horror movies; Freddy Kruger was my Tellie Tubbies and Predator was my Thomas The Tank Engine. Some may claim that was bad parenting on my parents behalf however I greatly disagree, I don't get offended as easily, I can look at boobs or violence without bashing an eyelid or blushing; plus I'm not afraid of many things, horror no longer phases me, so before you start complaining maybe you should think upon that.
Anyway back on subject... I recently got (over a year ago now) back into watching anime of all kinds thanks to a Media course I did in College; It also helps that these days I'm more into series's too.
Dubbed or Subbed?
Well that's the age old question isn't it, for me though it's rather simple. I suffer with sight issues (visual impairment) so I cant both watch anime and read the subtitles at the same time, so subs are out of the question. I'll be honest it hurts when I can watch season 1 of something I really like but cant watch season 2 as they've not and are not planning on dubbing it.
What do I enjoy doing?
Well I'm a media and tech-aholic I love my movies, TV shows, video/computer games, anime, and any piece of technology I can get my hands on. I'm usually one of the first people I know of to get the latest news on these subjects, the only exception being anime as I haven't found any really reliable sources yet.
I now work as an independent video game developer with a team in Wales, United Kingdom.
The Rating Game
Well like most people the ratings vary from a case by case basis, so it'd be better if you just ask me. However here is just a ROUGH guideline
10) A fantastic anime with characters I found relateable and a show that made me feel emotions.
9) A fantastic anime with either characters I found really relateable or something that made me feel emotions.
8) A show that I found really entertaining.
7) A show that at the very least kept me gripped.
6) A show that I thought was OK and I may watch more of it in the future, if there is nothing else.
5) A Ok show but I could take or leave it.
4) A show which I forgot about.
3) A show which I got bored from.
2) A show which was so bad I want to forget it.
1) A show that should NEVER be watched.
What I look for in a show
In a show I mostly look for a compelling story and characters, it does not bother me if it's the same or a rehashed story or premise as long as it's actually enjoyable to watch. I also really hate poor sound design and really over the top visual aesthetics.
