I see; I appreciate that you can like my reviews even if we disagree on certain shows/movies, because it shows we can be open and have a discussion.

I started writing reviews after I watched an anime that made me want to drop, because it was so awful for me. This anime I dropped around August 31st, 2020 and it's called Ouran Koukou Host Club. This review is my 1st one and as you can probably guess, my writing style has changed quite a bit: https://myanimelist.net/reviews.php?id=354495

I didn't really get into reviewing until I posted a Re:zero S2 Part 1 review that made it into the top 4 for a short period of time. However, that review got removed, because I early posted without realizing it~ It was at that point though I became very interested, so here's my tips:

1. Generally don't review non-seasonal anime unless you are comfortable with very few people reading. For example, RebelPanda is probably the most popular reviewer on the MyAnimeList site right now and I am happy for him. However, considering how popular he is, the fact that he only has 39~ people who visited AND liked his review shows very low engagement from the MAL community: https://myanimelist.net/reviews.php?id=394853 My recently posted review on Haibane Renmei, https://myanimelist.net/reviews.php?id=396674, has received almost 1/3 the number of Helpfuls as RebelPanda's semi-recent review, but that would be considered pretty good since I am relatively new to the anime reviewing community. Additionally, most of my helpfuls are from offlines friends and sending reviews to other people rather than people visiting my profile. Thus, it is very hard, even for popular reviewers to have their review blow up on an older anime, although it has happened before.


2. Pick up seasonal anime you like and/or dislike and plan to write reviews for them either when prelim reviews are allowed (after 1st 4 episodes after ~12/13 episode anime, 1st 6 episodes are ~24 episode anime, and more rules on https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=575725) or right when an anime is completed. People are very competitive when it comes to posting seasonal reviews so unfortunately, it's difficult to get in the top 4. However, the more reviews you post, the more well-written they are, and the earlier you post without early-posting/breaking guidelines, the more likely you can get an anime review into the top 4. The best way to watch early (right before the 4th episode for a prelim review or the last episode), is to use a lot of anime viewing sites (PM me if you would like links) and search up the watch time so you can watch as fast as possible. Some of the legal streaming sites are Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Muse Asia on YouTube if you have access to that in your country.

3.Just write what you feel like. You don't need to copy a style and your probably better off writing in the way you are most comfortable. The only thing you should NEVER do in your review is attacking the reader (for liking a show that you dislike and vice versa) because that'll just cause a storm. A good way to avoid that is to avoid using the word 'you' to refer to the reader.

Also, I want to say thank you again for friending me, because it was from your profile and your favorites that I found Imouto sae Ireba Ii. I didn't expect to love the show, but it really grew on me. It's a solid 7.4-7.5 for me and I might move up my score.

Edit: Just moved my score to an 8; I really loved it for what it was, in spite of its flaws. It's shockingly resonant.
