This is a series that I still maintain could have definitely been expanded into something much, much longer and would have been all the better for it. "C", for me, is the promise of what could have been, the anime has some fantastic bones and a really great, really interesting concept which could have really been a sturdy foundation for at least a second season, though I think the more they could have elaborated on it and explored it all, the better. "C" was an anime I had no idea of going in and I was blown away by how much I enjoyed it, it's
...
definitely an anime I'll always be fond of even if I think that 1) the "romance" moments are so forced and awkward they border on self-aware, 2) the few moments of fan service are not needed and break the tension, and 3) the entire thing was wrapped up way, way too quickly. Maybe I'm weird and a little too analytical for my own good, but I would have loved this anime to have been as long as possible and really delve into all of the aspects, the characters, and the plot lines which a series focused around economics could explore. The idea of an economics anime doesn't sound like something that would be as good as it was, but, while I'm very sad that it was never really given a chance, "C" is an anime I'll always cherish as one of the biggest surprises I've gotten in my experience with the media, it really shocked me how good it was, how much sense it all made within its own world, and how brilliant and genius the whole thing was. Whoever came up with this needs to do more work because they are brilliant, but, now, I guess all I can do is fantasize about all the places that this anime could have taken me. :)

"No matter how hard you try, it's impossible to defeat a fool who is certain of his own righteousness" - Okuma
"I disagree with that so-called wisdom...Fools end up getting drunk on their own righteousness and fall into a form of insanity." - Fuwa
When I first saw this through the grapevine online, I assumed that it was just a dirty comedy just like most people seem to have assumed, just a typical ecchi comedy with lots of girls flashing their panties and lots of fanservice, but it was hearing a review from Anime America which made me decide to give it a shot and HOLY CRAP!
...
Those first impressions were so, so wrong!
Yes, this anime is dirty, but dirty in a funny, innuendo-filled way, not dirty in a tasteless way and, while I found the first episode a little rough and rushed and not all the good, the minute the anime steps passed those awkward introductions it unveils a shockingly fleshed out world and an incredibly intelligent message about what someone has to do in order to change society for the better when it doesn't want to as well as the pitfalls that a movement may often fall into. It contains practically not panty shots and actually critiques those who pursue those no matter how dehumanizing they are, which is totally not what you would expect from an anime that proudly proclaims itself as completely dirty and I absolutely loved every minute of it! Seriously! Everyone who thinks of themselves as left-wing and who seeks to be part of the movement towards a better, more inclusive world needs to watch this anime, if they can handle it.
However, there are just a couple trigger warnings for anyone who is sensitive to certain things. There is something of a "rape" scene, though it's nowhere near as violent or unpleasant as something like Game of Thrones. There are a couple moments which could be interpreted as transphobic, one is sort of okay if you look at it right, the other two are definitely more juvenile and not okay. Finally, the big, final villain will probably make you very, very uncomfortable as he is kind of, for lack of a better world, very "rapey", but, if you can handle those, then you're in for an anime that is explicit, filthy, hilarious, and, surprising, full of so much heart and a great message to tell.
Personally, I prefer the dub because I can just listen to the jokes and get them right away rather than having to read and absorb them, but I've heard good things about the subbed version, too. Seriously, Shimoneta is now on my list of favourite animes and trust me, it deserves a chance, if you're willing to give it that! Come on! Let's all become dirty jokes! :D

There was just something about this anime, I don't know what it was, which just kept drawing me in. I would have moments where I was hesitant to continue watching episodes, maybe looking at all the episodes I still have yet to watch and thinking about how they were going to fill them all, but, when I finally did decide to continue, there was just something that hooked me and made me fall in love with this anime all over again.
This anime reminds me of Gundam Seed, except with less action and more character development. This anime has a pretty big cast of characters and
...
while some didn't get the exploration I think they deserved (come on! George and Tetsuya are the hottest guys in the anime and they're barely in it! I feel ripped off! I need my eye candy! D:), this show just seems to have a way of making you fall in love with characters you never thought you would fall in love with and, in the end, I think that's something about the show that is simply amazing, it makes you love its characters so much.
A lot of people felt that the lore was really esoteric, but I followed it all pretty easily and it's certainly not any more out there than a lot of other animes I've watched. When it's at its worst, this anime is a simple, plain Mecha anime with a mystic twist, not bad, just a little plain, but, when it decides to get its act together, oh, can it ever be good! There are twists which I was amazed at and moments that tugged at my heartstrings. Mizuno, who I really didn't like at first as she seemed annoying and childish, has such an amazing arc that had me amazed when the big twist finally came and, in the end like every other character, I came to love her so much! This anime definitely gets better as it goes, building off of what the earlier episodes work hard to set down and make the audience comfortable with, until it becomes great. This is also an anime that, even though it's protagonist is male, is arguably a female-driven anime with the majority of characters being female and having the most time dedicated to them and their character developments. Overall, it's definitely not an anime for everyone and I think it may be better for some people to watch the movie instead as it works to streamline the story, but, overall, I definitely don't regret watching this anime. It's not good enough for me to consider watching it again, but it's definitely one I'm glad to have watched and to have in my completed collection.
Still, the extra content in the movie is so amazing, especially if you've watched the whole anime. If anything, those few extra minutes gives this anime a huge boost.
This is an anime that I find very hard to grade, there are things I adored, but also things that hold me back so, overall, I have to give it 7.5 cybodies out of 10, maybe a bare 8 with the extra movie content attached one.
And the adventures of life continue on.... :)

I'll admit, I waited a long time to watch this anime and going in I was very skeptical that it was going to be good, but HOLY CRAP WAS I EVER WRONG!!!!!! I can't believe how much I enjoyed this anime and I feel so stupid for not having watched it sooner, I could have joined in on all the fun back when everyone else was watching it!!!! Seriously, this was awesome and I loved pretty much every minute of it!
There were several things which I found immensely refreshing in this anime:
1) the fanservice is at least partially equal-opportunity - I mean, in a show
...
which is about clothing which gives you power and having the clothes shred when someone is defeated, obviously people were going to be naked, but I just can't stop being so thrilled with the fact that the men in this anime are sometimes just as naked as the women. Mmmmmmmmmm, Gamagoori, you giant, sexy.... Oh, sorry, lost my train of thought there for a second. But, seriously, I just love how the anime didn't shy away from male nudity, it not only stops the nudity from becoming purely fanservice, but it also makes the world the anime paints so much more real. Sure, a lot of the male nudity is played for laughs, but I'll still take it.
2) Matoi is treated almost exactly like a male protagonist - This was the thing the most surprised me about Kill la Kill. You would think, that in an anime where the two main female characters fight in skimpy clothing, everyone in the anime would treat her in the sexist way you would expect and the anime would go out of its way to put her into humiliating, fanservicy moments, but no, this anime is just too good for that. Matoi is treated as a person first and, even though the show acknowledges her outfit in the first few episodes, I maintain that you could easily replace Matoi with a male protagonist and the anime would be almost completely unchanged, though, as much as I long for an anime full of scantily-clad men, I won't change anything about this anime.
Yes, there is something of a sexual assault scene, but, beyond that, I adore this anime. A great plot, addictive music, lots of fanservice for whatever you're looking for, and, more than anything, great characters, I loved it. The only knock I give it is that some side characters are pretty annoying and grating, but I think I eventually came to see them as endearing, too. I loved Kill la Kill and I never should have doubted it for a moment. Go watch it already! :D

I have honestly never seen a singular piece of media which is more unabashed, more unashamed, and more unafraid of the female orgasm is my life, and I loved every minute of this.
I honestly cannot remember how the hell I came to discover this anime, I almost never get into anime as it's been released and I almost always wait until months after the hype has died down, but somehow, perhaps by fate, I stumbled across Kakegurui and I've never once looked back. From episode one, I was hooked and addicted to this anime, it grabbed me and dragged me along on its wild, deranged
...
ride and I was grinning like a little devil the entire time. It's definitely one of the most unique and smartly-written animes I've ever come across, reminding me both of Death Note and Sherlock Holmes in its approach to the unraveling of the characters and their hidden machinations as well as the way their moments of sheer malicious joy are beautifully illustrated along with a massive dose of free-wheel, unhinged, insane glee mixed in. Yes, it may have its flaws and it may not be for everyone, but I'm become addicted to this anime and, whatever flaws it may have, I do not care one single iota. This is an anime which I adore and was going on my list of all-time favourite animes from episode one and I've never once wavered in that decision.
The only thing that could make this anime better for me would be a season two! Seriously, this anime deserves it, and, with a manga that only seems to be ramping up, they've definitely got loads and loads of material for several seasons to come. Please, please, PLEASE! Give this one a second season, please! I need my fix!
All in all, I give this 10 roulette wheels out of 10, a full royal straight flush! So, SHALL WE GAMBLE?!
