I find it fun to see what kinds of events some of the clubs get up to; Candy Kingdom in particular comes up with all kinds of great ideas~ \o/
A lot of socializing clubs have forum games and card editions at the very least; some never get those off the ground depending on how active it gets and how reliable the club's staff are.

There are a few different settings; one setting is that you can't even see the club unless the owner invites you. Don't worry about those unless you join a club staff team or you make one yourself. Public clubs, all you have to do is press the Join button. The last kind of club makes you press a button that says Ask to Join or something like that.
The short version of that is, you don't even have to ask for most of them. And the ones that you do, all you have to do is press a button; no writing required. :p

There are all sorts of club activities, including karaoke nights; it depends on the club. :p

I don't think you can join until they're up. The Powers That Be say they should be up in the next week, though, so it shouldn't be a long wait. Hopefully. The MAL users that have been active on Discord are going a little stir-crazy. XD
(Some clubs have Discord servers where they just chat, play games, etc. There are certain activities you can't join in unless you're in their Discord server just because it isn't possible. Like karaoke nights, for example.)
