Akuma no Riddle

About conniving characters who try to assassinate based on their own personal gain. In both cases, it is all about killing to participate in mind games. Akuma no Riddle is really about 1 target, and everyone else is a professional assassin whereas Danganronpa, killing is forced upon, and different characters fall victim or be part of the guilty part in conjunction with an investigation phase.

[x] Similar art style [x] Male lead that isn't intuned with his emotions [x] happy go lucky female lead [x] both female leads have trouble sorting out their real friends [x] Shoujo audience Ao Haru Ride is a bit more slow placed than Wolf girl and Black Prince, Ao Haru Ride focuses more on friendship building than romance for the most part. Wolf girl and Black Prince is also well laced with comedy so it gives it an added spice from the typical Shoujo anime.

Sakura Trick

Both animes don't really take the yuri too deeply although Sakura Trick is a bit more explicit about it. The characters are very similar to the main casts, and both like to have cute girls do cute things. The scenes in each anime seem to follow the same pace between the two as well.

Both focus on gore-fests and shock values to amuse the viewers, and horror fanatics alike. The art style is similar too, and the main males have personality traits that are in common with each other. Both shows have a good survival feel to them, and characters that have mental issues. The only difference is Deadman Wonderland feels more unfinished than Mirai Nikki.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica

Both series appear to be innocent and fun when they first start it; however, as the story goes on, it all becomes a deconstruction to their own genres. You see a lot of character development in both, and you don't know who is on your side, or what people's true intentions are. The characters struggle in their own lonely tragedies, but it takes the strength of friendship to fight against the real battle. I had this whole in my heart, and sadness for the characters that compelled me to think of both of these anime.

Rosario to Vampire

Both shows are a supernatural harem with a little bit of ecchi. The difference being that the main protagonist has a little bit magic whereas the other one is completely human. Both of them feel inadequate, and don't fit around the powerful females that surround them. However, for some odd reason, the powerful females really enjoy his company. The only difference between both shows is that Rosario focuses on supernatural beings: vampires, witches, demons, whereas Maburaho focuses on magic-users. School-life is also a common theme for both.

Both are mature romances that show complications that love doesn't always equal happiness. Lots of drama in both including a love triangle, although in Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, the love triangle is always being put into a strain. Another common aspect that both anime have a tragic element to them showing a dark side. If you want a mature drama with romance that is a bit dark—both shows are great for this. The pacing of the show is similar.

Shoujo Sect

Both are centered around yuri, and the fact that the main girl isn't assumed to be a lesbian. Both main girls try to help the troubled people around them before exploring their own self. The destined lover in the series both act troubled, ignore the school rules, and have their own self confidence that may be seen as arrogance. Shoujo Sect has more hentai-like scenes BUT are not terribly explicit compared to an actual hentai. Lastly, both series seem to have the same type of elegance and classical piano pieces played throughout the series.

The main character deals with her inner demons, and tries to figure out what her place is in the world. Although in Kotoura-san, the main character is a lot more bubbly, and friendlier. Both series focus on character development between different sets of characters, although the characters in both are made entirely as a different cast, the feeling of focusing on the relationships between both. The main girl and guy both struggle to sort out their feelings for another throughout the series. If you want a mix from sad-to-happy themes in an anime, Kotoura-san is what you should look for. If you want an anime filled with character development for finding the meaning to your-seemliness boring or out of place life, then Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is the answer for you. However both really focus on self-identity.

Dennou Coil

Both have a heart-warming story about friendships, and maturity. The cast of characters involve a journey into the realizations of adulthood - although this is more apparent in Noein than it is in Dennou Coil. The animes also take a slower pace at developing the story, and setting, but unravels it very gently. Also have a science fiction setting, and involves delving into the pros and cons of technology.
