Hello, fellow weebs! My name is Sol Blaze, I live in Canada and this is a bio about me, my interests in anime and anything related to it.
I have 3 different categories of favorites:
1-Normal anime
2-Movie
3-Music
THE IDEAL GENRE OF ANIME MADE FOR ME:
A real robot mecha anime where the main character faces the consequences of war and keeps pushing his limits to pursue his beliefs. I really like political and philosophical tensions between characters, especially if the story is able to show that neither side is right and that all is about perspective. It would also be very interesting to see how the main character and the one he loves build their tie trough the harsh and brutal reality of their world. Of course, these two would be mecha pilots.
WHAT I DON'T LIKE IN AN ANIME:
Stupid plot armor and excessive use of friendship power don't make any sense at all and ruin the show. After talking about friendship countless times, the main character always becomes overpowered for no apparent logic and proceeds to obliterate the final boss? This cheap way of winning just confirms that he will never die, so why should I worry or cheer for the protagonist if he will always win? This is just for action anime, I can tolerate it for slice of life or drama anime since it can add interesting points to the plot.
MY CURRENT ALL-TIME FAVORITE ANIME: (BASED ON ENJOYMENT, NOT SCORE) #1
Gundam series: My childhood and first anime. Not only they have the most "realistic" plots and settings (depending on the show), but they also have the best mechanical designs in all of fiction. Gundam has over 30 series, over 40 years of history and tons of mobile suit designs of every style. Fun fact, I'm also a Gunpla Builder! Here's some of my fav Gundam series:
-Gundam Hathaway's Flash
-Gundam Unicorn
-Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans
-Gundam Build Fighters (for nostalgia)
#2
Code Geass: Plot, character development, fight scenes and mechanical design are all perfect. The plot revelations and twists are unpredictable and Lelouch litteraly outsmarts everybody with mind tricks and battle tactics. Every victory and defeat is logically justified, NO PLOT ARMOR AT ALL!!! An absolute masterpiece that I recommend to fans of stories with socio-political tensions, strategic military battles and mechas!
#3
Fate series: Basically, a battle royale between legendary, mythological, historic and literary figures. The diverse cast of servants makes each interaction very unique and many characters have their own really well thought out philosophy that drives them to win the war. Here's some of my fav Fate series:
- Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel
- Fate/Zero
- Fate/Grand Order
#4
Neon Genesis Evangelion: On the surface, this anime looks like a typical edgy mecha show with barely anything happening. Deep down, it has a philosophical complexity that if not understood, you will miss the entire point of the show. If you don't have a brain, you won't enjoy this show. Btw, the movie "The End of Evangelion" is an absolute masterpiece that questions the good of society and humanity.
#5
Attack on Titan: The animation, directing, soundtracks and plot are all perfect. Nonexistent plot armor, unpredictable plot twists/revelations and deep philosophy makes it peak fiction. Final season had a downgrade in animation, but it's fine. The first season feels very generic, but trust me, it will get better and it will never stop getting better.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
- Kara no Kyoukai
- Hunter x Hunter
- Gurren Lagann
- Kill la Kill
- 86
- Jujutsu Kaisen
- Golden Time
- Kaguya-sama, Love is War
- Dr. Stone
- High School DxD
- To Love-Ru
MY CURRENT ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIES:
#1
Promare: This is the ultimate Trigger anime, it has everything good from Trigger, multiplied by 1000. The CG, the OSTs, the low poly aesthetic and the over the top fight scenes with godlike animation and camera action are simply mindblowing.
#2
Gundam Hathaway's Flash: Not only this is the darkest and most depressing entry from the Gundam series, but it is also one of the most visually stunning anime of all time. The realistic art style, the natural human movements, the dynamic camera plans, the background arts that reach "Your Name" levels of detail and colorfulness, the godlike lighting that is never seen before in anime and the total absence of anime clichés are proof that the director wanted to make this movie feel exactly like a live action Hollywood title, which it actually did.
MY CURRENT ALL TIME FAVORITE SLICE OF LIFE:
Kaguya-sama, Love is War: It's a slice of life version of Death Note: two tsunderes psychologically fighting against each other to force the other to confess his/her love first.
THE ANIME I HAVE A DYING HATRED FOR:
Fairy Tail: This show has everything I hate to see: horrible animation, super slow pacing, stupid plot armor and excessive use of friendship power. I forced myself to watch it, hoping that it will get better over time, but I was wrong. This show has so much potential: the character designs, the universe, the soundtracks... But I got really tired of it after finishing the first season. The animation looked like PowerPoint slides. Because of stupid friendship power, a lot of wins feel undeserved and the antagonists are too easily forgiven even after having done cruel and inhumane things. Not even Erza, a top tier waifu, could save this show.
MY CURRENT ALL-TIME FAVORITE MUSIC:
Aimer - StarRingChild: Aimer is my goddess and will always be. StarRingChild is also a Gundam song, so it holds a special place in my heart.
Some of my favourite anime openings:
Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans op1: MAN WITH A MISSION - Raise your flag
Code Geass op1: FLOW - Colors
Black Clover op3: Vickeblanka - Black Rover
Black Clover op10: Vickeblanka - Black Catcher
Hunter X Hunter op1: Masatoshi Ono - Departure

Dislike:
I don't really have a genre I dislike. The anime just needs to be enjoyable.
Other unmentioned genres are neutral.
Favorite Line:
"Peace cannot be kept by force, it can only be achieved by understanding" from Gundam 00
"So tell me. Tell me how to destroy the depths of this system. All of humanity can't live on Earth together [...] As long as there are exceptions to the rules, people will try to cheat." from Gundam Hathaway's Flash
