8. If nutting to drawings isn't considered sex, then nutting to drawings shouldn't be considered gay. It is quite natural for a Male to be attracted to that which has feminine features, and traps have most of those features. It's not our fault they have a dicks.

Tokyo Ghoul is a series that (especially for a manga/anime) had a lot of potential to be a pretty great and deep story. Where does that all fall down? With it's protagonist, Kaneki Ken.

The setting of Tokyo Ghoul is brilliant. In Tokyo there are a species people who look and act just like humans and live alongside them. But with one difference; ghouls possess enzymes that refuse to digest anything that isn't human flesh. Alas, ghouls are left with two options: kill and eat humans or die a slow and painful death of starvation. Ghouls do exactly that, and humans have formed the CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul), a organization that exists to kill ghouls to protect the humans of Tokyo. This is a very thought provoking concept that results in many philosophical questions being asked: is it acceptable for the ghouls to kill and eat humans since it is their only way to survive? is it acceptable for the CCG to fight back against ghouls by killing them if they are just trying to go about their lives? could there be a way for both humans and ghouls to live coexisting without having to kill one another?

Also the way the setting is mapped out with this dilemma is beautifully crafted. How it affects the lives of the characters and the groups and organizations that develop as a natural result is genius.

There are lots of great characters in this series (for those who have read/seen it: Touka, Hinami, Yoshimura, Nishiki, Yomo, Tsukiyama, Banjou, the gas masks, Amon, Akira, Shinohara, Juzou, Rize etc) who have really great development and arcs. They also all show a different perspective on the war between humans and ghouls. However no character who is opionated on the situation should be the protagonist as then that perspective gets given more emphasis. So a neutral character is needed to give an even balance.

At first Kaneki was actually a pretty good protagonist. For a odd reason: he was plain and bland. Usually one would associate this with a badly written main, but in this case it actually worked well. Firstly because the other characters who had flavour and were much more interesting than him really had these characteristics highlighted by being contrasted with such a blank slate. Also Kaneki was a sort of midway point for the spectrum of the two sides in the war so a good narrator for getting all the perspectives and arguments across. He was also a great plot device and through his neutral position managed to kickstart a lot of arcs for other characters such as Touka and Amon.

Then... Later on they decide to give him a character. This actually could have worked, but the character they chose to give him was so... Dull. All the other characters were so much more intriguing than him. And because he was the protagonist this dull character got a lot of narrative focus which would have been so much better spent on other characters/storylines. This can especially be seen through how the story became less about the war, lives and relationships between humans and ghouls and more about just Kaneki Ken.

Kaneki's character was basically just "badass" and "edgy" and I think based on his popularity and the way people talk about him this seems to basically be what all affection for the character boils down to. There isn't really anything else to him than that.

Also the anime is underrated. It's not as good as the manga, but the animation was beautiful, the dark, purple cityscape was beautiful, the characters were beautiful, the fight scenes were fantastic to watch, the relationships, dynamics and developments of the characters still got across very well and the unique to anime ending to root a was fantastic. I've not seen the final two seasons, but season 1 and Root A were very good.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
