Kaleido Star's a weird one for me to recommend. On one hand, I think it's the most incredible "try until you succeed" kind of story I've seen (essentially taking that cliche premise but executing it to near-perfection), but on the other, it really requires a high suspension of disbelief, and the premise itself may not appeal to everyone (being geared towards acrobatics and the circus). But with those things aside, it was such a heartwarming series that far surpassed my expectations. The finales of each cour were some of the most emotionally resonant scenes I've ever experienced.
