I have nothing but praise for this anime.
It's hard for me to really go into this review, as what I love about the series is pretty spoilerific. What I will say is that, like other Satoshi Kon works, it explores psychology and offers something of a commentary about society, all wrapped up in beautiful (and occasionally freaky) imagery. Paranoia Agent is kind of like a long, drawn-out visual metaphor. This anime really engages your mind, and it's another thing that I love about it.
If you don't like anime that aren't character-based, then this is NOT for you. Paranoia Agent is very plot-centric. That being said,

To be completely honest, the slice of life genre never really appealed to me. I didn't understand what was so riveting about watching people do ordinary things, things we do and see every day. I don't know what in the world made be pick up Yotsuba&!, because what could possibly satisfy me out of a slice of life?
