Not only both share similar premise of a detective duo solving mysteries in a historical era Japan with a female main character, the dynamic of the detective and assistant is similar too. Both has the more laid-back and mysterious male characte alongside the more serious female MC. The mystery aspect is also similar in which they are more on the simpler side. The cases are things that can be found in everyday setting, showing more sensitivity and most times with heartwarming conclusions.

They both gave off similar feel - like they are written and drawn by the same person or team. The way the characters are drawn are very similar, the style is very cute with big eyes and a lot of blushing. Although Katayoku no Labyrith is a little unique with its supernatural touch, both series are romance stories at the core and both share similar type of angsty love polygon drama that involves more than one couple.

Right off the bat, these 2 manga gave a similar look with their clean and cute shoujo manga art style - which makes one recommendable if artstyle is what attract you to one. Both shared the typical MC that doesn't really stand out, starting a relationship with a handsome guy early on - making them a couple most of the story. Similarly, they shared a very feminine theme revolving around the story - one about perfume and another about fashion.

While Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is a seinen, it has qualities similar with shoujo/josei manga that mainly attract female readers with its storytelling, especially with the character depth of the female MC and the slight romance - something that is also seen with Usotoki Rhetoric, a shoujo manga. Both has the romance more at the side, and focuses on the mystery aspect.

I think the mystery alone gives the other a worthy show to try if you like the other.

Although different in setting, both is set in a fantasy world that is written thoughtfully. The MC having little knowledge on their respective worlds creates the suspense of both manga. Through its artwork and mystery, both gave that kind of dark atmosphere, but toned down with the cast with colorful personalities in each series.
