To sum up Tokimeki Memorial - Only Love in the best way I could without giving spoilers:
Pretend your an egg, freshly laid from your mother hen. You feel joy to the world as in a matter of days you will hatch and become a cute little baby chick. Then all of a sudden an old lady picks you up as well as your brother and sister eggs beside you and places you in a basket. Your thinking, "this old lady must think we're cold so is putting us some place we could hatch in a warmer environment, oh how kind she is!".
Then you realize
...
your in that old lady's kitchen, and to shock horror, a brother of yours is cracked, fried and on toast for that old lady's breakfast. That afternoon a similar fate happens to your sister as she is boiled in a pan of hot water. This terror follows for the next few days until you're the only one left.
You've pretty much resigned to your fate, and with the temperature as it is, there is no sign of you hatching. Your the last egg in the basket and the only thing on your mind is, "will I become breakfast, lunch or dinner?" You've even gone as far to think how you'd like to be served. Fried rice? Scramble eggs? Boiled egg in ramen and so on, as you count your days.
Then without warning, the old lady's grandson happens to see you and decides to keep you, and your thoughts are, "Yes! I am free!" You thank the gods as well as this wonderful being who has set you free. The child heads for the old lady's backyard, and you think, "Is he taking me to mum? Lucky!"
He then places you on the ground opposite your brethren chickens and heads for the shed. You patiently wait for him to come back, and when he does he has with him a hammer. You think to yourself how kind this child must be as he's probably going use that hammer in his hand to fix the cage the other chickens are being kept in.
"I may have seen hell whilst in that old lady's kitchen, but thanks to this boy I can enjoy freedom! When I grow up, I want to become an astronaut! Thank you little boy, and thank you...hey little boy? What are you doing? That's not how you use a hamm-...." SMASH! - are your final thoughts.
For those who didn't get the metaphor to my little tale and are thinking of purchasing(or even downloading) this 25 episode anime with high expectations, let me give you a word of advice so you don't feel like you wasted a good amount of your life(as well as your money/download) like I did....this series is S***! The only reason why I finished it was due to my partner making me watch it as punishment for wasting money on the boxset.

As a fan of Tenchi Muyo and its franchise, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, would have to be if not the best spin-off that's come out to date. Bear in mind, my review will be very biased due to nostalgia playing a big part(having grown up to Tenchi anime instead of Pokemon or Dragonball)
Whilst there are subtle references to the MC being part of the Tenchi Muyo universe(TenchiVerse), I doubt it would be enough for anyone to think that they would need to watch the past franchise before starting this series.
Story: 6

a world not of his own with only his wits(and an inexhaustible amount of physical power) to help him find his way back home to Japan. One of the reasons why I've taken a liking to this series is due to having the MC play an active role with this anime compared to his spin-off predecessors when it comes to the action. Of course not a lot of people will like MC due to how much he portrays as a Gary Stu being all perfect, but that doesn't really phase too much as I had found Kenshi to be very likable opposed to past harem stereotypes.
Whilst there is an underlining plot of conspiracy and betrayal within Isekai, don't be alarmed if the imbalance throws you off from an episode tense with drama and action to than randomly switch to fanservice as all-in-all like its previous spin-offs, the focus is heavily set on its harem/ecchi genre and all part of the humor. Although I should add for an OVA where its producers could have taken advantage to a lot more fanservice and nudity, I have to respect that they didn't, as to not ruin the main focus of the plot(lacking as it was).

As a fan of the franchise since the early 90's, I have never been one to critique their sense of animation & design as it was usually the slap-stick comedy which had made me a TenchiVerse fan in the first place, so I was surprised and amazed with the improvement in animation since the time-gap with Tenchi Muyo GXP(last spin-off I had seen back in 2003). Although not a Miyazaki or Shinkai, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari is pretty well animated for its time.

Whilst most Tenchi Muyo anime have had an outstanding OST to back their series/OVA, unfortunately this is where I felt the series may have failed for me, which in turn eventuated my score back to a 5. OP and ED were great in their own way, I felt it just did not match the vibe which this series portrayed and BGM at times did not suit some of the moods. But please don't let that turn you off from watching the series as this does not necessarily mean a bad thing(it could probably just be me feeling nostalgic to the franchises older OST). In regards to voice actors, as I had watched the whole series in its native language, I had felt they had picked the right seiyuus as each character played their part well without sounding out of place(unlike some anime that can make you cringe just from a character opening their mouth!).

With an original plot outside of the Tenchi Muyo universe, I felt the characters were molded very well to fit the scenarios and as mentioned, minimal references had been borrowed off the franchise for hardcore fans out there to conspire theories to their hearts content. (10pts going to whoever guesses the cameo in episode 4)
Now for those who may have already seen this show or are half-way may think the show ranks of predictability and clichés but hey, in this day and age what anime doesn't? If you can't get past that part and enjoy the show for what it is, than it would be a waste of even watching it in the first place. Isekai doesn't try to be that next thing and is just there to be purely enjoyed (and which I believe they've done well with).
Whether the cast of girls can be classed as clichéd, I have to admit that they have been played well and their parts not as overused as what you'd normally see from a typical harem cast(eg.the tsundere type that's too tsun-tsun or the love-love type who smothers the hero too much).
While the cast is too many to mention(just check Wiki if you like to know more), what I will mention is that if you like your Gary Stu's(opposed to the uninspiring stereotype you get in harems), than you will definitely like this series as Kenshi is what you would call a one-man army with his exceptional skills whether they be domestic or on the battlefield.
Enjoyment and OverAll: 8
Whilst I'm not as big a fan of harem anime as I use to(only few harems I still enjoy to this day), when I did watch them I'd always hope that the protagonist gets "all" instead of having to choose only one girl(why make one happy when you can make them all right?). Yes its unrealistic, but you don't watch a harem let alone a harem fantasy for realism, and for a franchise that practices polygamy as a norm, I believe any hot blooded male shouldn't have any room to complain.
Like I earlier mentioned this review will sound very biased(especially after mentioning that I'm a huge fan), so I can only say this: watch the series for yourself if your into the following genres - harem, action, likable overpowered characters and slap-stick comedy, I can guarantee that you will like Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari.

I came across Ga-Rei wanting to know how the manga panned out after events to the anime adaptation Ga-Rei Zero(prequel to this manga which aired in 2008).
Unfortunately, like an over-hyped Hollywood blockbuster, Ga-Rei had potential to go places in regards to being a manga-worthy favorite, but did not live up to its anime counterpart due to what I thought was a 'rushed' ending.
For those who have not seen the anime, although not a necessary watch as the manga does cover background to some of the characters, I do recommend viewing anyways if you would like to get the emotional feelings that is lacking in the
...
manga.
Story: 8
Ga-Rei is a tale about an 'agency' that takes care of the supernatural in Tokyo. Story-wise, we look at it through the eyes of the protagonist Kensuke Nimura. Although I say protagonist, this is more an outlook to his relationship with the heroine Kagura and how she inducts Kensuke to that agency due to Kensuke being able to see ghosts. Whilst we do have insight to Kensuke, it really is more about Kensuke learning about Kagura's life/past and the agency she works in. Whilst Kensuke has a minor role at the beginning of the story, it's his intake to learn about Kagura and his decisions from there, that pushes him to be the protagonist at the end.
Ga-Rei can be considered as 3 arcs which span through 52 chapters; Yomi arc, Juugondō arc and Naraku arc with each arc providing plot development to an overall ending for the main heroine Kagura. Although I have no complaints on how each arc is portrayed, I do believe that the mangaka could have improved on the concluding ending compared to what we fans received by chapter 52. By the time we were at the last few chapters of Ga-Rei, too many openings were left 'unfinished' and too many side characters which people had read and liked from beginning of the tale were left with no story-ending for themselves for the fans to feel satisfied with.

I've given Ga-Rei a 9 for artwork as I must admit it is spectacularly done well. From beginning to end we are given breath-taking backgrounds and choreographed action scenes which is very pleasing to the eye without wanting to question "what happened there?"
Character: 7
This is where I believe the manga fell short of. While the character's are epic in their own way, I felt the mangaka left too many 'holes' for us to fully comprehend how good this manga could have been. For example, whilst we get a full background of Kensuke and his weaknesses, we are then led to believe due to his "love" he can do a mind-blowing sword-technique with out further explanation. Also, by the 2nd and 3rd arc, we are than exploited to too many characters which left no background or formal introduction which, for people like myself makes me feel somewhat unsatisfied with the over-all story(especially once I got attached to a certain character).
Enjoyment and Over-All: 7
Overall, it could be in my part that I had high expectations due to watching the anime and following it from there, that my review has given this manga a biased rating. Whether you follow my footsteps and take the manga up after watching Ga-Rei Zero, or by just reading it as a stand alone, my only advice is to not come in with too high an expectation or like me, you may feel a little disappointed due to comparing the adaptations.
Like any famous recipe, the secret to a real good story for me(especially manga) is the balance. Ga-Rei came out sweet making you want to 'eat' more from anime to volume 1 but unfortunately due to the unbalance of the overall story and lack of side character conclusions, it left a bittersweet ending.

"You're the first man who's ever made me wear pants" - Niche
If a line like that by the 2nd chapter, doesn't strike your attention as amusing than Letter Bee(or Tegami Bachi in Jap) may not be the manga for you.
I was first attracted to this manga through the anime adaptations 1st season which had aired recently, and wanting to know what happened after ep.25 piqued my interest to read on.
Story - 8
Without going into detail and providing spoilers; TB is a unique tale on its own which escapes from the mediocrity of school life stories which seems to be the common setting for most manga
...
these days, and although you may find similarities in reference to characters and traits from other manga(from hair that change to swords to 'special' eye powers), what TB does provide is a fresh new outlook in storytelling.
We are shown(what looks like) a post-apocalyptic world of AmberGround where an "endless night" governs over a man-made sun. Towns are scarce and only ways for communication to each town is through letter or parcel which are delivered by the Letter Bees. Government delivery workers entrusted with the population’s letters which carries their 'hearts' and emotions. Now if you like me, thought how can a postman's story be so exciting? As long as you think outside the square you will realize it’s not just about a story of mail delivery but a story about the emotions that come with that mail. There is also plenty of shōnen action goodness in TB as outside the towns of AmberGround reside giant insect-like monsters which only the Letter Bees can take down. Postman Pat dressed as Mad Max? Maybe.
Art - 8
Artwork can be visually stunning at times, and the fight scenes are understandable from panel to panel (which is uncommon for action manga as it can take a few reads before a fight scene can choreograph in my head). The post-apocalyptic background is what I believe breathes the story to life (and is visually done right) as it brings new depths of emotions to each character and the hardships that is AmberGround and living in that world. Although the creator of TB Hiroyuki Asada is not highly recognized(his past work is none I've ever heard of anyways), his tale through manga is at least noteworthy to capture audiences over and even screen an anime adaptation.
Character - 7
Within the TB world, we are shown the Letter Bees and their traveling companions known as 'dingoes'. Each Letter Bee is equipped with Shindajuus(or heart bullet guns) which are the only methods of being able to take a Gaichuu down as these insect-like creatures have shell-armor which an average gun would just tickle it. Whilst each Letter Bee has a unique story of their own alongside the main character Lag Seeing, what really captivated me was the introduction of their companions or dingoes. Dingoes came of any shape or form and fought alongside their Bees. From pet dogs, to wild panther-like creatures to seasoned mercenaries who fought if the Bee had the money to pay them. They also acted as trackers which have been shown as a common trait for most dingoes as well. One particular dingo I really liked is Niche, Lag’s personal dingo, who although looks human is not. Also known as “the Golden Sword”, Niche is similar to Eve from Kentaro Yabuki’s Black Cat(but in an even younger loli-body) and can manipulate her hair into blades. Like a newborn child, Niche’s personality(and curiosity) can at times be amusing and what I believe serves as on-going humor(and cuteness) for TB. You also meet other characters in TB which are unique in their own way, and just as emotional as the main characters.
The only reason why my score came to be a 7 instead of an 8 or 9(which some may find biased) is due to a certain character and their excessive display of being a nake-mushi(crybaby). I’m not sure where the author was going with that one as the emotions portrayed from other characters were heartfelt enough without the main character having to add to it in most(if not every) chapter.
Enjoyment - 7
Although I wouldn't go as far as saying its one of the better reads I've had in the past year, I can safely recommend TB for anyone of all ages.Whilst it does start off slow like all shōnen, its after a few chapters and learning the world of AmberGround and its residents that make TB an enjoyable read to past the time or for those waiting for the 2nd season of the adaptation to come out.

"If you've seen one, you've seen them all"
....is what I would like to say when it comes to Adachi's manga Q&A, but I would be lying.
If your familiar with Adachi's past work, you would commonly know him famous for his genres on shōnen tales of sports with a touch of high school romance. Cross Game being the latest to add to his collection. In a few of his stories, the main character would lose someone important in their life who would eventually mold that characters future(if you've read Touch you'll know what I mean). In Q&A, Adachi has outdone himself this time by amalgamating

his past work, and added a supernatural theme with the story.
What if that important person who had passed, lingers on to mold your future?
Story: 9
Q&A is the story of Atsushi Ando and his older brother Hisashi(nicknamed Q or Kyu by the local neighborhood, hence the title Q&A) who at the beginning of the story, had already passed away. Whilst Ando was known for being 'the little brother' and nothing else, Hisashi was the outgoing type well known(and loved) for his athleticism and strength. Although Hisashi was blessed, he always took care of his little brother and prior to passing away made a promise to Atsushii he would always be looking out for him.
6 years after Q's death, the Ando family have moved back to their old neighborhood and house. Now the twist of it is that, who should be waiting for Atsushi when he moves in, is no other than the spirit of his older brother(who can now be classed as the younger of the 2) and so begins the tale of Q&A..
Art: 8
One thing I liked about Q&A is that the art seems more alive compared to Adachi's previous work. Some of the background seem to be a little more detailed. What I also love is that Adachi hasl kept his characters faces and looks the same to his previous work giving you that 'welcome to the world of Mitsuru Adachi'. If you've recently finished an Adachi manga, and start Q&A, it would seem like it was a continuation to your last read. Also to note, whilst Adachi has stepped on minor parts of ecchi in his past work, I feel he's gone to a little more detail with Q&A(which as a guy, is 2 thumbs up).
Character: 8
Q&A has an array of characters which I know you would like once you get into the story. You first come across Atsushi(15yrs old at the start of the story) the reserved type who pretty much keeps to himself if possible, opposed to his older brother Q, who after passing away remains 11yrs old and although still likes to play pranks like what normal kids that age do, still acts like the older brother for Atsushi. We also come across the lady of interest for the story Yuho, who comes across as a 'tsundere' on the first few chapters. You will also notice the supporting characters have the same feel to Adachi's previous work(from the parents, to the local bullies and rival) which give strength to the main cast and give you a laugh or two.
Enjoyment: 8
Although I've only come across 10 chapters, I already know this manga will be one I will be closely following for 2010. If you've read any of Adachi's manga, you will know he is known for flaunting his previous work and that hasn't changed with Q&A seeing that he's already advertising Cross Game in the earlier chapters. Q&A comes with all the right elements for a great read and I can safely predict a high rating by the time its come to the last volume.
If you like sports, high school, slice-of-life or even a touch of romance in your manga's, then Q&A is worth picking up.

For those familiar with Rumiko Takahashi's 'InuYasha', will see a similar partnership that both Ushio and Tora have as they battle many of Japan's supernatural folklore in this epic manga.
At first you may come across this tale as your typical shōnen genre of boy receiving some sort of power(in this case Ushio receiving the beast spear) and using it to fight for justice, but once you delve further into the story and get to know the characters, you will learn that there is more than meets the eye, and will come across a classic that spans to 33 volumes of awesomeness that is Ushio

to Tora.
Character: 8
The manga is covered in different arcs, some in which maybe a continuation to Ushio's previous endeavors, and some to build character to the supporting casts of the manga. What I liked about this manga the most was Ushio's character as a happy-go-lucky guy(opposed to the usual weak timid slow to build character types) who did what he thought best disregarding all consequences whether good or bad the outcome. With Tora as an anti-sidekick on his side(and an appetite for Ushio), both begin to see what makes each other tick, which for the most part makes an amusing read.
Art: 7
Whilst art may not be what some come to expect for manga standards for 2010, once you delve further into the volumes, artwork starts to come to life and are able to tell a story even without captions.
Enjoyment Overall: 8
Overall throughout the 99 chapters I have read thus far, I have come to like the world of UTT,and considering this manga started in the early 90's and had even won an award for best shōnen back in '92 should tell you in itself that Ushio to Tora is worth picking up.

Princesses: an epitome of nobility, kindness and purity...women loved to be them and men loved to be with them...
...or so Haru thought as he and 2 of his colleagues Natsumi and Touma are assigned to be princess Amano Terass's bodyguards.
Amanoiwato Hime is a gag manga which I found to be very amusing as, although the whole 'princess and her bodyguard story' have been played out in the past, to have it done comically in a manga(and done well) is new premise.
Amanoiwato Hime is prelude to the up-coming manga titled 'NEET Princess Terrass', so you may class this as a one-shot prologue broken into 6
...
chapters.
The characters are played out well and although you won't get as much development in 6 chapters, the prelude will give you insight to whats to come.
The art is ok for manga standards, but the story in itself is what will keep you reading for more. If your after something new to enjoy then I'm pretty sure Amanoiwato Hime will aim to please.
Now I just can't wait till the main story comes out!

When it comes to the the supernatural, you'll have to admit that blood suckers we commonly know as vampires, would have to be one of the most romantic creatures to grace the pages of fictional history. From Bram Stoker's immortal Dracula to the modern vampires you see on movies to the TV screen.
Dance in the Vampire Bund is no exception if your after a seinen tale of romance, action and most of all the supernatural. Whilst there are common traits to which some may already know as vampire lore, there are also a few changes that give the story some originality and aimed to

please any fan of the weird and supernatural.
As you get deeper into the tale you will find there is an underlining to the story of prejudice and betrayal in the vampire world, and that although most vampires may see humans as livestock, there are some who actually reach out in friendship.
If there was any room for complaints or disappointment, it would have to be the artwork. Coming from a creator who is well known for Hentai, I may have have had a little too high of an expectation from his work. Not that I have that much to complain about, but after following the mangakas previous works, I was left pretty impression-less when looking at Nozomu Tamaki's current work.
I have given this manga a 7 for the depth and character development which has transpired so far since chapter 1. I believe there is room for improvement in some departments but all-in-all its a worthwhile read.
I know there have been mixed reviews on the adaptation, but if you liked the anime, then I definitely recommend reading the manga as you will see how the adaptation changes from the anime whilst sticking to the plot giving you a different outlook.
If you'd like a fresh take to a much loved/hate character of the supernatural, Dance in the Vampire Bund is a manga worth having on your list.

Ever wondered what super villains do on their days off from trying to conquer the world?
Hajimete no Aku is a romantic comedy about what goes behind the scenes for 'so called villains' fitting into a society they are trying to take over.
As per what the synopsis has already mentioned, HnA is about Kyoko and how she educates diabolical villain and inventor, Jiro to modern society(eg. school). Along the way she gets to know more about Jiro and his family's 'evil' organization, and Jiro learns more about his new found emotions(whilst trying to scout Kyoko to be his underling).
The concept of 'heroes/villains are humans too' is

what lead me to keep reading this manga as we're only shown one half of any tale and most likely from the heroes side, so having to hear it from the villains side can be refreshing in itself. There's a running gag throughout its chapter on how not judge a book by its cover, and like and iceberg, there's more to someone then what you see on top.
There is plenty of character development in HnA, as you discover what villains and superheroes do when they're not out for each others throats. Amusement is plenty when you find out how normal, villains and heroes alike can be.
Artwork is not the best by manga standards but if you can get past that and not judge a book by its cover or illustrations, then I can safely guarantee that Hajimete no Aku is a worthwhile read.

A Nyan Koi rip-off? Not really. For those who have read the synopsis and went on that basis, let me stop you there. While the similarities of cat-allergies are familiar to each anime, that's pretty much it that each tale will share.
After episode 1, I was actually surprised to want to watch the next episode due to how close the show stuck to the manga's storyline. With a long line of let-downs in the last year for adaptations, I had made sure not too have to much of an expectation for this show, and I'm glad I did as its proven to be just above
...
what I had hoped for.
Without going into detail, Omamori Himari is the story of Amakawa Yuuto, descendant to a long line of demon slayers, and his kick-ass sexy feline guardian Himari Noihara(demon neko-mimi or cute puss-in-boots for you westerners). Add in a 'tsundere' childhood friend, a loli, a maid waitress, and an 'ojou-sama' like fiancee and you have the rest of Yuuto's "cliched harem" as they try to handle co-existence with youkai(demons) and humans alike due to Yuuto being casted as one of those sensitive new age guy who doesn't like violence(the type of nose-bleeding harem male you love to hate)
Now this show falls in the genres of Action, Comedy, Demons, Romance, Harem, Supernatural....which sound like ingredients to a great plot and story, but coming from a creator who's previous works are hentai, what you will see is fan-service, cliches, fan-service, loli-action, fan-service and a lot of ecchi(as a male I have no problem with that....oh and did I mention fan-service?)...well I guess the benefits of a H-mangaka is that you can expect the artwork to be top-notch. From the 3 sizes(of each heroine) to Yuuto making out with a few of the leading ladies, they've made sure to cover the right angle shots in detail(which some will find very ero-ero....if you can get past the censorship that is...hopefully there'll be none of that when DVD gets released).
The OP and ED are ok but not something to start looking out for on your next karaoke session and the BGM can be classed as elevator music(well not as bad). As for the voice actors, you have a great line up of seiyuus(Tenma from School Rumble being Himari as an example, and the cute Kuro from Kodomo no Jikan as Shizuku for those loli-lovers ^nano). The only thing I wasn't pleased with is Yuuto's VA, which I feel they've miscasted. Those who've seen School Days should know what I mean. Everytime I hear Yuuto's voice whilst Himari's trying to flirt with him, I get that spine-cringing feeling that someones out of place. I do feel sorry for that seiyuu as its not his fault for being the VA to Makoto(probably the most hated male lead in all of harem time), but he just does not suit being a harem lead.
All-in-all without discriminating the show from the seiyuu, Omamori Himari is a worthwhile anime to watch. From the producers ZEXCS(who gave us Regios, Rental Magica and *vomit* Da Capo), here's hoping they don't stuff this one and give us a bad ending, or in Makoto's term a "nice boat"....
If your looking for Nyan Koi replacement, I'll advice you now your not going to get it. As long as you don't come with no expectations, I can safely vouch that this anime will aim to please
