They are pretty much the same: - main character is related to/in a strange world and must fight witch-like persons, who are only in this other world, because they're desperate or sad in the real world - both seem pretty normal or soft at first, but they definitely aren't

At first glance, they aren't similar, right? - alternative japan with a law, that prohibits something - main character is unhappy with this law and he starts to disregard this law in Shimoneta it's more comedy and ecchi focussed and in Koi to Uso it's romance and drama focussed

- both show the dark side of love with unrequited love or just forced (or rather forbidden) love - school setting is pretty similar - they have the same dark atmosphere
