Warning: (Hopefully) Minor spoilers ahead! Read only if you insist on making decisions on whether to watch this anime or not.
Peachboy Riverside is one of those anime adaptations where some viewers will be in a dilemma whether you can't tell if PeachRiver is badly-written anime with surprisingly good elements or a decent anime with some abysmal elements. One thing's for sure is that I won't be surprised if there's no season renewal on this series.
The reason why non-chronological storytelling is implemented in this anime is because the series director wants to avoid an anime-original ending in finale episode. Now, I get he means well because
...
as much as I love anime, I can tell some of them have badly-written anime-original ending(s). *cough* Tokyo *cough* Ghoul as prominent example.
That said not all anime original endings are bad-decision making. Akame ga Kill is one of the good examples of implementing an original ending with proof of many blind viewers rating this series at a high number. Though we still depend on manga readers whether anime original endings were a good call, it's up to many blind viewers for at end of day, an anime is obviously a promotion for the manga volumes to be bought by them (a.k.a. new manga readers).
So far, episode 5 is the best one for it emphasized on how reckless decision making can lead to an unfortunate consequences despite the reason behind this is plausible for the character to take action on it. The art and sound quality may not be the greatest, but it's made at "good enough" level. As for the characters, I'm only watching for the mysterious backstory of the Peachboy & the Demi-Human for they intrigued me with their interactions/responses with new characters who appear in later episodes.
The rest of the characters either feel two-dimensional, turn on a dime, or are too oblivious to know who's friend and foe, especially the Knight Man whom I wonder whether he's pretending to be calm & friendly in front of the antagonists or just be written under "Too Dumb to Live" trope. As for our main heroine, I'm curious on how she gets her Peach Power since it's not a hereditary power for I saw ep 4 being a backstory on her royal upbringing and that her dad the King is just an ordinary, non-powered human. Hopefully we get some answers at least before final episode ends.
TL; DR
PeachSide is one of the challenging anime adaptations where you've to get used to the non-chronological storytelling that's unfortunately not in flashback for recent episode 5 takes place in the very present time. If you're unsatisfied with how this narrative goes in this direction, nobody should stop you from dropping this series for while it's has fascinating storytelling elements, the execution is lukewarm based on what I've mentioned in previous paragraphs above.
I doubt the manga has the same execution as this anime because I've heard it's all in chronological order. I'm sure it'll be worth your money to purchase it legally and that you'll be able to get to the part where the powers' origins are explained & answered well. Either way, PeachSide is a risky adaptation, but it would be worthwhile if you're intrigued deeply into the mystery of everything that made the racial discrimination and fear of unknown to exist in this Momotaro-inspired story.

Since I thought this has the same vibes of Bofuri which has surprised me when it premiered on its seasonal run, I've decided to give Kuma Bear since I love how Maple's moe behaviour/personality is portrayed and that it might apply to the supporting characters who've the same features as her. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like making an effort to like meant-to-be likeable characters of Fina, her little sis, and other Moe characters. At end of day, they're uninteresting moeblobs who might have forced me to clench my teeth at some overdramatic scenes that leads to mood whiplash because the overpowered protagonist has solved the
...
serious issue like it was no big deal. Sounds familiar to you, right?
Sure it's always the main protagonist that we end up sticking throughout the series, but sadly enough, Yuna, the series' protagonist who has made bears become popular in the new world, isn't any different from those OP male protagonists we see in those generic isekai harem series. I do appreciate that we get to see a female protagonist to be OP to the max and that there's no sight of direct/subtle gender stereotyping in this series;
But with her backstory being disregarded nonchalantly, Yuna is obviously wirtten as a self-insert protagonist whose self-serving bias become so obvious that it's a bit grating to anyone who's unable to have loads of suspension of disbelief. Not to mention, Yuna's overall personality feels overfamiliar even towards any avid isekai fans; like I said, "Sounds familiar, right?".
In my POV, Yuna really didn't get any proper character development for she's written under the common tropes related to isekai protagonist generally. Well except the lacklustre final episode where she realises what has changed within her whole self. Yes, the cliffhanger was meh to me because emotional impact is a very important element that needs to pull off with proper execution regardless of a season renewal.
I don't know how many can give this series a high score, but I guess these reviewers love Isekai no matter how bland, predictable or run-of-the-mill the storytelling elements they've. Maybe I'm not gung-ho about CGDCT in Kuma Bear despite myself liking Super Cub at most of its runtime. Either way, I won't be watching the next season for I don't wanna force myself to watch something that makes me feel monotonous & slightly annoyed with it. I only give this score because I like how Yuna can be an OP hero regardless of her gender & that the animation quality is good enough to look at (a.k.a. be watchable). Plus, I've just remembered I didn't drop this because of the bear familiars Yuna has been keeping inside her Bear Gloves.
I only recommend this series if you're an avid isekai fan who could care less about the storytelling being typical/predictable, absence of character development, and the moeblobs being the same cardboard cutout personalities regardless of their character & costume design being different/distinctive. By all means, go ahead and enjoy this meant-to-be cute series while I rewatch Bofuri and forget about this forgettable series. At least, I know that my "I'm not easy to please" principle still stands strong within me while watching Kuma Bear. May whoever watches this series don't feel the same way like me.

Zombieland Saga Revenge coincidentally has good timing to air during a difficult and chaotic year given the fact we still have to wear double masks whenever we had to go out to get necessities. Especially when the final few episodes showcase a familiar feeling we're experiencing the whole half year and that Franchouchou comes to save the day by staging a "Revenge Concert" for their fans in-universe & us in reality.
It's still a great must-watch series if you're able to like Kotaro, their manager, going through character development somehow even if we still don't get to see his eyes clearly. Also glad the girls got
...
their own episodic plot to see how much they've grown through putting so much effort in becoming immortal idols figuratively. Especially with Yugiri's backstory in the 19th century which I thought the creators forgot about doing her backstory for first season didn't show hers at all. Hopefully that brings a little hope for a season, if not final, renewal where we might get to see zombie-voiced Tae's backstory because why there's a hint that she's related to Sakura somehow?
The only reason why I'm unable to give a full mark is the sudden unnecessary need to make the reporter an antagonist who was determined to stop their Revenge Concert after finding out they're zombies. It feels like the reporter's 11th-hour role change becomes tasteless dramatic effect given his reasons to stop the concert seem frivolous. I've heard he was doing this because this behaviour is a subtle reference to posthumous album/single releases by any artist recorded a few days/weeks before their untimely death.
Sure I don't mind the writers emphasize on this questionable issue of a rights holder making profit of a deceased artist's posthumous album/single, but the reporter written with this purpose of getting this message feels stale when it's obviously for the sake of happening instead of natural progression. They could've implement some subtle behaviour of him reacting to a posthumous song in an earlier episode. That way it won't appear like it's just for dramatic effect and nothing more meaningful than that.
Nevertheless, ZSR still deserves a high score from me for I along with others being affected by this year's tumultuous times. We can appreciate cheer-up songs with most of them having positive meanings even if Franchouchou is a fictional group, they're real because Franchouchou's seiyuus are real as they can be to channel their memorable characters into our hearts, minds and souls. Trust me for you really need an idol series to help you get whatever positive stuff you can from their songs in these challenging times.

You know you gotta admit of the saying "Never judge a book by it's cover." is sometimes true. And that includes a certain blundered series which I regret for not dropping it given my beliefs of avoid writing characters turning on a dime for no reason, otherwise they ruined the potential of storytelling of its interesting premise.
Fortunately, OddTaxi manages to avoid that failure by emphasizing the storytelling elements. At first, I was sceptical because the character designs are too cute-looking. Yes, this is the saying (mentioned above) for this intriguing series. And yes, OddTaxi is for adults aged 20+ & above. Of course this subversive
...
storytelling method isn't any new for in the realm of CGDCT or moe-centric anime series, several of them have dark storytelling with cute-looking girls doing gritty stuff; Madoka Magica e.g.
What makes OddTaxi be distinctive from certain CGDCT-like series is that instead of cute-looking girls, most of the cast are adult characters that the dark humor within most of their dialogue are enjoyable and yet at same time they get shivering relevant to most of adult viewers; given the fact this series is airing after midnight in Japan (as it should be). What makes OddTaxi stand out even more is that every single character you encounter on-screen feels human. If a series has made me don't have any most fave and most hated character in it, it's great storytelling about human flaws.
Our main character Odokawa's mysterious backstory has been kept under wraps in spite of the plot points, hints/theories and speculations viewers have been making while watching this series all make sense once the reveals are brought to light in the characters' dialogue. Even the fact why we're seeing the characters as animals will make sense in the final episode which I won't spoil because that would ruin your effort in figuring out how everyone on-screen is connected to Odokawa.
The only thing I'm dissatisfied is the open ending where it feels anti-climatic given that this "puzzle piece" somehow didn't connect to the rest of the cast of characters. There's also an improper closure regarding a stand-up comedy duo but like I said, I don't wanna ruin your efforts in piecing the major events & characters' circumstances under said events. Also another improper closure regarding an office worker's scammer being left unsaid.
And yet, I've decided to give full marks to OddTaxi because the storytelling is full blown realistic as it can be despite some events happening in there needs some of your suspension of disbelief. An anonymous user has said something meaningful about a recent manga's questionable ending:
"Just because it has a bad (open) ending doesn't mean the rest before it is bad writing/storytelling."
Nevertheless, OddTaxi is must-watch modern anime where the story gets gritty realistic as it can be. If you want an intriguing mystery that makes you see the characters as humans instead of being a waifu/husbando material, OddTaxi is one series you'll never regret watching.
I recommend OddTaxi to those who want something subversive but that doesn't feature obvious moe-like characters. Of course I only got to start this series by reading the first few episodes' spoilery reviews.
No wonder someone said "...feels like false advertising and too jarring for my tastes."
I agree and disagree at that statement of theirs because you never know which anime can shatter your low expectations apart from parting you a memorable realistic storytelling you might need to navigate in reality.

Truth be told I'm not easy to please. With Isekai being my least fave subgenre, I'll always have to go in with very low expectations for I've disappointed experiences with the potential of many Isekai stories being squandered with otaku subculture going over the top as unfunny comedic timing/humor & meant-to-be serious plot that has little or no stakes due to (male) protagonist being the only one to be a sudden overpowered hero. The latter statement is proof that Isekai stories always feature a self-insert protagonist given that 99% of the stories are written by amateur authors at Shosetsu website.
Now just because you see/hear the
...
word "amateur" doesn't mean all of them are bad writers. In fact, I believe only 1% of the existing Shosetsu Isekai writers have written a worthy Isekai story though it depends on your luck of trying & deciding if you should purchase every single volume of certain series. Well I'm glad to tell you that Saint's Omnipotent Magic is one of those 1% worthy Isekai stories to your reading list.
Of course SOM isn't any different from what I've said above. Sei, the protagonist who's the actual Saint, is obviously a self-insert protagonist given her background of being alone back in her world without any parents or friends to greet to or rely on. Nevertheless, she's meant to be written like that so that we as the viewers can relate to her situation of being suddenly whisked away to a literally foreign world.
What's different from other copy-and-paste isekai stories is that most of the characters, especially Sei, has displayed rational actions and motivation somehow that you realise some realism elements has been implemented in this series. I love how the series emphasized on the characters blinking eyes in between/during their dialogue. Surprisingly to say, I've watched Diomedéa's previous works that have either subpar or an okay level of animation quality, and I conclude SOM is the best work they've done.
(I'm still waiting for an "Animators Rights" Bill to come true someday. The sooner the better.)
From Sei's various emotional portrayals to Aira's backstory and POV being told with realistic revelations, I believe why SOM has managed to become a worthy isekai to watch is because the execution of its premise & plot points are done right in a fell good way. Majority of this series' tone is calm & relaxing given that this is catered to a different kind of audience, mainly the female viewers. It's also thanks to Sei being expressive and her inner monologue has let viewers know what she's feeling & thinking, especially how she prepares herself to have her life get a drastic change once her Saintly Powers are getting discovered soon by the general public.
While it may not be mind-blowing or have a lot of action like those male-oriented Isekai stories, Saint's Omnipotent Magic is one of those isekai stories where you can experience the realism that blends well with the calm & relaxing storytelling of a female MC's daily life (a.k.a. slow life) in another world.
I only recommend SOM if you want a change of pace from watching the usual male-oriented Isekai stories, especially ones that feature "an OP hero who gets a harem too easily" kind of premise. Furthermore, I don't recommend SOM to those who are expecting battle/fight scenes for majority of the runtime & those who are unable to take in cheesy romance.
At end of day, I can say that Saint's Omnipotent Magic has shattered my low expectations of it which in case they're able to portray the realistic developments between various characters at most times. It's definitely worthy your purchase of the source material's volumes if you were to love SOM as much as I did.

Hey, if some people can rate that infamous Healer series 10/10, why can't I with Dragon's House Hunting? Yes, I'm aware that the parody's concept has been done before with another airing under this spring season. What you need to know is that it all comes down to proper execution that'll be the factor in rating one's enjoyment throughout the series' runtime.
I admit I'm sad this series has a very low score for not everyone can enjoy the "logical humor" being referenced in this series; But! It's the most enjoyable series I've experienced during this seasonal watch. Sure its premise is simple with our Dragon
...
MC finding a permanent home for himself with the help of a handsome Elf who's the most capable estate agent, but I love how they keep the wholesome, if not laid-back tone and the way they utilise the Hero Party characters be the villains as this story is told from a monster's POV in which our Dragon MC is one.
I'm still surprised that those who admit love watching wholesome series rate DHH a very low rating; I saw most of them are fans of CGDCT unless they're blind that Nell, the bratty but likeable princess, is considered to be that type of character. Nevertheless, I'm glad DHH still focus most of the episodes on the house-hunting concept in a high fantasy setting that may have been the factor in showcasing the RPG fantasy tropes being ridiculed in a genuine, funny way.
I'm not easy to please so I got myself surprised looking forward to watch weekly episodes. The characters may be consistent that didn't need a character development, with the exception of the Elf whose backstory is simple but still interestingly cute for he was a little bit bratty like Nell is. I'm also liking the Hunter & his Cat becoming breakout characters in my eyes that I wished they appear more if a season renewal is possible.
In short, I recommend Dragon's House Hunting if you want a wholesome series that's set in a (high) fantasy world. If that's the case, you don't need to have any suspension of disbelief to enjoy it because of the world has only RPG fantasy setting so you won't feel grating/jarring while watching it. The characters have consistent personality but that's okay because this is supposed to be a comical and relaxing watch though it depends how you're feeling towards meant-to-be likeable characters like our Dragon MC.
The character designs, background arts, & animation quality are satisfying that I'm glad it's guaranteed you'll be able to enjoy Dragon's House Hunting with great visuals that helps the simple premise & storytelling be more enjoyable when you least expected. For now, this is one of those "read the manga" method, but I guarantee this anime adaptation has managed to promote the manga with great care & effort. Yes, go purchase the manga series if you want more wholesome moments of your fave main characters going on House-Hunting Adventures.

Don't get me wrong. Just because Slice of Life genre isn't my most fave one doesn't mean it's my least favourite which (unsurprisingly) is still the Ecchi genre. I'm learning about Super Cub for the very first time in my life for I'm no motorcyclist or a scooter rider, but I do know this anime adaptation is meant to give you peaceful relaxation especially when this year is full of doubts and dread about one's own future.
Super Cub's overall tone is said to be about the same as Yuru Camp & Non-non Biyori so I'm planning to watch the latters someday if this is true.
...
For now, I wanna explain why I give this rating given that I've enjoyed watching the peaceful animated sceneries from our MC Koguma's POV.
This series, in no doubt, still needs your suspension of disbelief at a high level. If these elements have made a little jarring effect in my brain, then I would've rate this series a bit higher. The worst one is the penultimate episode where the sudden tone shift of a serious issue suddenly resolves itself too easily. Given that episode's unnatural & plausibly awkward dialogue, it's a jarring reminder that the whole purpose of this series is to promote the Super Cub that even putting a small child in its basket functions as a product placement & an indirect advertisement.
Mind you that I enjoyed the first seven episodes despite the situation Koguma was in needs loads of suspension of disbelief unless you opt to believe Emancipation Law exists in Japan. Ep 7 is an indirect ad for Koguma & her newly-made friend Reiko's Cubs, but the written dialogue isn't as blatant as the penultimate one which I'm sure some of the teenagers watching this series know "How Not to Save a Literal Cold Person" rule. I guess this is the reason why there's always the end credits' words saying the events are fictitious & that they shouldn't be imitated in reality.
Nevertheless, I recommend Super Cub as a relaxing watch after a long tiring day you just have everyday or when you feel the need to cheer yourself up a little. The strength lies within the visual storytelling in reflecting Koguma's emotions most of the time. But if you're expecting character development on every single character you've encountered, it's only Koguma who gets that for she started as a "lifeless" high school girl who takes a small but daring step to change her monotone lifestyle.
In other words, Super Cub should be an enjoyable watch if you're willing to watch just for the MC, ignore the blatant ad reference especially in penultimate episode, & great visual storytelling from a (probably) newly-made anime studio. I can assure you might need this series as a temporary antidote for those who long to get back on a road adventure someday, if not the sooner, the better.

There's an infamous saying: "The word Masterpiece gets thrown around until it has lost its meaning..." but I have to disagree for Masterpiece is a subjective term at end of the day. If you wonder why I didn't give a full score on 86 anime, check out my review on it. I've written what I'm dissatisfied of. As for one more writing element that I was dissatisfied happened in that series, that's another story for this review is all about Vivy.
Original anime series are very risky for they don't have an existing source material (manga/LN/WN) to adapt from. This can lead to be a
...
huge miss for one was wasting their weekly time in watching the episodes of some that have failed in every elements of the storytelling. *cough* Listeners *cough*
As always, I try not get my hopes up for I dread the day when I can witness more great series featuring a well-written female protagonist in a non-romance genre being made. Hence, I'm really glad Vivy managed to hit all the qualifications of character development from a stiff non-human character who developed into an almost human character at the end of her story.
You could say I'm overwhelmed with the storytelling progress of an AI's mission to fulfil the meaning of it. Since Vivy is a songstress AI, the music soundtrack is the most important aspect of this series. Every single song & BGM hit the right tone while it plays throughout many emotional scenes. Animation quality isn't forgotten to be taken care of, and boy did Wit Studio's animation team has managed to skyrocket my cinematic viewing experience. It's not an exaggeration that every episode feels like a high-quality movie. The open ending is satisfactory given that it leaves viewers to interpret what it means even if not everyone watching this will be satisfied with the open ending. Well it is for me.
TL; DR If you want to witness how a non-human character gets well-written & is an avid fan of action, sci-fi, and music genre along with a storytelling that's been executed with the greatest care, Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song is guaranteed to be one of the best original anime series you'll ever watch once in your lifetime, regardless of how the final episode turn out to be.

It's a very common case when anime stories have little to teach viewers about what's happening in reality though some of them have managed to venture into the realm of implementing realism in their fictional, if not a world of science fantasy. Because at end of day, people watch anime to relax themselves and be free from the agonies of several grim stuff one has at least experienced once in their lifetime.
And yet, many of us end up loving how 86 is reminding a cautionary tale of the effects of endless racism especially Institutionalized Discrimination where a racist country's education becomes propaganda to teach the
...
young generation to believe they're the most superior race ever existed in human history. Sounds familiar?
Asato Asato's tackle on the dark sides of racism being used to the endless blind hate is meant to be a grim reminder that racism is never a good thing to do. Seeing the racist country having very fair skin is obvious to let us viewers know that white supremacy is the most common racism against non-white people.
In this series, it's a straightforward case of viewers be aware the Alba majority are white people while the 86 are people of colour regardless of some of the 86 have Alban bloodline. It's a great case of using the excuse of fighting a losing war with the racist government "labelling" 86ers as animals based on their hair and skin color. It's great to see a very serious story being told through this medium for we may teach the next younger generation of how racism can ruin and kill human lives even if many of us are innocent bystanders.
The first half may start a little too much on the nose & overly forced/heavy-handed dialogue; especially for the female protagonist is written under the problematic trope of "white savior". Ngl, this trope makes me uncomfortable to root for her as the writing on her character seems obvious to make viewers to subconsciously "forgive her naïve upbringing". Though we get to see her be rebuked of her spoiled upbringing that lead to her naïve self in believing the ideals of her country's former glory, it's still difficult for me to like a meant-to-be likeable character despite her being obvious to represent the minority of white sympathizers toward the 86ers. Because her being the only white character wanting to save the 86 represents what "white savior" trope is unfavorable to most of us:
That non-white characters still need a white character to help them survive despite me wanting to see a non-white character saving their own (e.g. Just Mercy biography film).
Nevertheless, the female protagonist has started to receive actual character development late in the game so I think I can manage to like her earnestly in the next cour's story.
Like my case with Jobless Reincarnation, it's worth a rewatch with the second half never to be skipped at all despite my dissatisfaction with the romance teasing scenes being so out of place that it doesn't serve purpose to the story other than being a fanservice for LN readers. I've found out why I love the second half is because of their great original anime-exclusive scenes with the exception of EP 8 where I wish the animators trust viewers' ability to know who's disillusioned & who's hopeful in helping the 86 prolong their lives. Seeing the face have animation-exaggerated evil-looking faces on them felt grating & a bit offensive given that humans can be cruel while having ordinary face.
No doubt 86 series is one of the hardest series to watch given the themes and concepts hits close to home to many of us viewers. I recommend this to those who want a faithful LN story adaptation for the team behind this ambitious, well-known project manages to add in scenes that has strong ties with volume one's storytelling. Though I can't assure that some of you will be satisfied on the physical diversity & full names of the minority race 86ers, but I can assure you that this story is worthy to be shown to the next younger generations in order to not repeat the grim, dark history of racism playing a dangerous role in this day and age, not to mention when an infamous war started because of this despicable act.
TL; DR Asato's 86's anime adaptation has managed to convey the emotional impact towards viewers at most times. Surprisingly being made by a debut team with their capabilities and experiences in visual directions & CGI mechs managed to be top-notch level, you're guaranteed that 86 is one of the LN series that has been salvageable from being ruined of the pacing that many LNs' anime adaptations have suffered in the previous years. You can trust that 86 series has been translated properly into a worthy anime adaptation that'll make you appreciate the cinematic filmmaking experience ever occured in this medium.

When you think of the word "Kabaddi", the first thing to spring up in your mind is the word being used as a prayer chant, often remembered as a gag comedy thing. In actuality, Kabaddi is a real serious sports for the only equipment you need is a mat; your body being the determined factor in winning and losing a match. Though you might have to expect some supernatural-like features happening in later episodes regarding the team captain, Burning Kabaddi has done its utmost best to exhibit most of the sport aspects with realism.
JSYK, I'm not easy to please so I surprised myself that I
...
enjoy the storytelling happening in this sports series. Of course all the elements are generic having been done and seen before in other (major) sports series, but the story's execution manages to hit most of the right spots for emotional impact. I appreciate how the Kabaddi rules are revealed slowly even if some of them are said to be fictional and a little bit exaggerated according to the sub below in every opening scene.
The only thing I wished I could see to give a higher rating is the animation quality to "move more freely". It can't be helped given that the production committee might have give a very tight schedule to the animation team. If this didn't happen, the stiff animation quality & PowerPoint Slide directing style could've been avoided. I've managed to ignore those animation features in first half thanks to the scriptwriting of how a talented genius gave up sports after experiencing the negative side of being in the spotlight whilst keeping up people's expectations. Most of the supporting characters are fleshed out eventually so that's another reason why I still stick through the final episode of this series.
I knew there would be an open ending scene, but somehow I don't feel satisfied from it. Nevertheless, I enjoy the execution of the scriptwriting aspects for it managed to overshadow the stiff animation quality happening throughout the series. Not to mention, the BGM also managed to suit the tension of the matches being played. Still, all of this is because of the first half; the second half lose some of its steam to carry the same vibe the first half had presented to me.
TL; DR If you're an avid fan of sports genre of this medium, I can only recommend if you're here for the writing aspects and can ignore the stiff & PP animation quality. BK deserves a season renewal nonetheless because we've yet to see a tournament arc happening in anime form. It's a very small chance, but I guess, like always, you have to purchase the manga series to find out what happens next though it has yet to be licensed in English. I assure it'll be worth it and hopefully if it gets renewed someday, let's hope the animation quality will be made with great care & effort & that the new season isn't put under intense deadline for the same (or next) animation team.
