What game and what platform was THAT? It sounds like you like it for being bad or something. Like it's "so bad, it's good" kind of thing! Is it?


Oh yeah, I saw that. MAL actually sent me an email, and I remembered the thumbnail being two clones of Oboro and Gennosuke, when they were kids, and it looked so weird. I know that wasn't the actual next part of the story from the novel (pretty sure, anyway), so yeah, as soon as I saw what it was, all interest disappeared quickly. How much did you actually watch of it?
What was it called again? I forgot it almost entirely past that.


So, I browsed your anime and I noticed something; you have watched almost everything anime related to Berserk (probably the king when it comes to tragedy), BUT the manga. That is insane to me. Is it just not listed, or have you just not wanted to read it or start it? Because man, oh man, are you doing yourself a huge disservice to have only watched its animes.
And has a fan of tragedy, yeah, maybe doubly so.

What do you like about it so much? Because while I generally like darker tones in general, I like real drama, tragedy, bittersweet, etc. I guess I like it because it makes you reflect a lot more. It resonates harder.

Like in real life, when you hear awful stories that happen to someone else, it's both horrible AND enlightening, because it further puts your own life into perspective by imagining the same circumstances and you learn to avoid those same pitfalls yourself.
I think that's why I like it. How about you?

And I like happy endings too; because not everything in life IS a downer, but I must stress again, it has to be EARNED.


Do you not even have that kind of food for sale there or what? Haha. Also, the meat is spelled "Bologna" but pronounced "Baloney" (which is insanity to me, and always has been).

Yes, it is very Romeo and Juliet, now that I think about it. If I recall, I believe the story was only like an inbetween piece of the story; kind of like a part 2 of a 3 part story. Part 1 was about the clans that hated each other, part 2 was getting the Iga and Kouga to kill one another on their behalf, and part 3 was back to clans dealing with the outcome of that. I think even part 3 was also adapted as some sort of anime, somewhere.

But yeah, the whole series of Basilisk is just a part of a bigger story, but it does work as a standalone too.

Do you like tragic romances or just tragedy in general? I also am a fan of dark tones, drama, even bittersweet or downer endings. Nothing against happy endings, but I hate it when they're tacked on and not earned. So if it's more realistic, I'm a fan of it ending with an ending that doesn't just cop out.

Did you know that Basilisk is actually an adaptation of a very old novel from the 50s? I mean, well, it's an adaptation of a manga version of that older novel, but still the writing is from that era. It certainly doesn't feel like it, for sure. Pretty timeless feel overall, because I've heard it's a pretty faithful adaptation as well.


Lastly, gotta know, since it's hard to tell online when someone is joking or not; is your location the actual Italian city or a joke about sandwich meat? :P

Damn, believe it or not, you're literally the only person besides me who gave Basilisk a 9 and has it favorited I've found, haha. What a shame.
