Finding a good slice of life show when you haven't watched one (or any anime, for that matter) in a while is always super refreshing. I've been on the outs with anime viewing the past few years and this show reminded me of why I like anime so much. I agree with you that this show does have a lot of heart, and I was surprised at how evenhandedly it approached otaku culture. I had seen Eromanga-sensei before this so I was initially worried, but now I see that that show/story was just a poor imitation of what the author had done in the past. Also, on the note of tsundere characters, I don't tend to mind them much so long as they are written competently, and though Kirino is a bit excessive at times, normally she acts believably enough. When it comes to something as bizarre as falling in love with her own brother, I don't expect her to be straightforward and emotionally open.
On that note, that central story line of brother-sister love is kinda what throws the show out of whack. I think it was handled about as tactfully as it could be, but it still is a giant hurdle to overcome both in terms of plot and in terms of what point the show is trying to get across. I think the ending is baffling, though it's probably the most agreeable ending for the trajectory the story was going.
Anyways I've gone on long enough, overall I liked it! Best anime I've been recommended through secret santa, believe it or not!
