I really like the concept of the anime. The plot was a story about a boy named Yukito who kinda got isekai'd into a world without Gods and Religions, no spiritual elements of life at all. He made that wish after being sacrificed to the gods by his own father's cult. Growing up without a will in his own life, as though he is dead, being nothing more than his father's puppet. Groomed into one day taking in his father's footsteps as the cult's leader.
He never got to actually live his life, so when he got isekai'd, that's when life finally began for him. Unfortunately
...
a world without Gods and Religions seemed to be the cause of mankind's downfall. Those who feared Death were cast aside and labelled abnormal. While those who succumbed to the Emperor's rulings were deemed normal.
What is normal and what is abnormal? Such things can never truly have one definition only. It's a preference, a socio-cultural acceptance. In other words, we place our life in the hands of the Emperor to do as he wishes. Like zombies controlled under a mage's spell. Soon we learn even the council (Alcorns) who works under the Emperor, manages the kingdom, correcting those who misbehave, snatching away their desire and willpower, controlling their every move, Alcorns are tired with this kind of 'living'.
That's where Yukito comes in. Realising all this, he was forced into doing something he absolutely despise. Preaching. Starting from the people he first met, his friends. A village filled with abnormal people. Conflicted with his decision, disgusted with himself from time to time. Alas his father's teaching and the knowledge and trainings he gained from his previous life, were coming in handy. A preacher he became, in fact the most powerful tool for him. Is only something Akito himself can do to save the lives of those people. The lives of that country, the life of the world.
Akito was reincarnated into a world without Gods and Religions.
Was it a Blessing, or a Curse?
Ironic isn't it. That's all I have to say. I actually really enjoyed the dark lores in this. I just wish there was more. Not a lot shared on the surface of this anime. I mean how can it being borderline hentai? Too much fanservice. I'm not blaming it since it's targeted to those types of audience. But if you're here wondering if the lore is good. I'd say it's definitely good.
Personally, I just wish there was a clean version of this. Also, the 2D models adds its own unique pizazz into the anime, I liked it.

It's no exaggeration when I say this anime is AMAZING! And I'm so glad to see many positive reviews on this anime cause, we can all agree on this one! (No spoilers so listen up!~)
The concept of the main character being a non-heroin in her own shoujo story--- it's hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing! If I had to say what kept the promising plotline going; was the friendship dynamic between Anzu (MC) and Riri (Magic Wizard).
Although Anzu was originally hoax into being in a 'romantic highschool experience' by Riri, the introduction of the story wasn't all what it seems. I did express a bit
...
of a.. disagreement with Riri's actions played throughout the episodes. But later on we would soon learn that those various romantic incidents and situations orchestrated by Riri had more thought put into planning and not just blindly taken light of. Riri is no human, they are a magical being. Therefore Riri does not possess any human emotions. That seems to be the case yet how is it that Riri is actually so good at their job? Is it the efforts of their studies on human emotions? Could it be their fascination and passion on human behavior? I believe although it started out as passion for work, after meeting Anzu, Riri soon developed a real connection with her. That is why I believe Riri's role in this anime was a crucial essence to the story.
The 3 ikemens introduced in Anzu's life weren't treated as mere puppets. They each have their own unique story which makes us see them as another human being rather than a potential love interest to the main character. We have Junta (childhood friend) and Koganei (rich kid) their screen time was sufficient enough for us to learn about their background story. The anime though focused more on Kazuki (pretty boy) cause his cased was quite heavy. Each of the boys has their own struggle, and Anzu (although was very against the idea of a romance) being the heroin in her story, was a brave, fearless, and caring person. A bit dense, without realizing, Anzu became an important part of their life; as well as hers.
And the one behind it all---! Was none other than Riri. Truth is, Love isn't something to be forced of. Not even magic can manipulate such feelings a human can have. So although at times I had thought Riri was the culprit behind every scene, they never forced or manipulated anything to happen. Riri only supported and provided every opportunity to Anzu to reach their goal as per contract. Which meant every action, every step that comes next is all depends on the person themselves. Riri could have used some other tricks up their sleeves, but they didn't. With that I sense such an admirable pride Riri has.
Funny enough the truth is I was on Anzu's side from the beginning. Every time Anzu and Riri would meet I would follow along Anzu and bash Riri as well. That is... until we reach the climax of the story.
Remember how I said Riri formed a deep connection with Anzu? Well that's Riri's character development. Riri already has a passion for human emotions, Anzu only helped Riri bring out those feelings they have. Which is exactly why Anzu and Riri's friendship dynamic was so entertaining to watch. The irony they have expressing hatred for each other, crushing each other's plans-- only to soon realize that's exactly how friendships are develop. The ending of the anime was truly lovely. I want season 2! As well as the manga~
I'm sorry if I mostly write about Riri. There's actually so much to say about the anime, but maybe I'll just go with this. Riri isn't exactly my favorite character, I guess I just have a deep respect for them. Maybe this is the start of Riri supremacy I'm feeling.... maybe...

Mari Yamazaki sensei. I have fallen for her.
I decided to watch this anime on a whim after finishing a Netflix series. I was expecting to learn about architecture and hot springs, and european influence. And I got what I expected. But I didn't know I'd enjoy it so much especially the small skits at the end of the anime on Mari Yamazaki sensei's take on hot springs; rediscovering Hot Spings ♨️
I thought it'd be a bore to watch an (11 episodes) anime all about hot springs, but not at all. It was quite enjoyable. Quite a great depiction of what living in Ancient Rome would
...
have been like. You'd see Lucius (the main character) traveling through time from Ancient Rome to the early or late period of Japan; all in the sake to educate himself (and us the viewers) of how Hot Springs are in development.
Mari san uses the character Lucius to express herself by drawing reactions of Lucius, reacting to new experiences she discovers on her Journey to the Hot Springs.
It feels truly amazing for her to share her journey with us. I feel blessed because I get to witness these amazing historical places with her and her drawings. Thus the anime. I find it quite valuable to me.
Whatever journey she wishes to venture into next, I hope she takes us along with her as well. Cause I'd like to support her anywhere I can!

Oh my goodness. Thank god I stayed through the ending song. Almost missed it. Am psyched.
So, Case 3; Snow of London was my favorite case of them all! Not really a fan of romance but I was not expecting them to have a case dedicated to romance. That song.. Someday ft Emarie. Absolutely beautiful, I love music. And for them to incorporate it into this short love story between Cynthia and Thomas... Ha.. It's very lovely. You kinda forget what the main case was about. So lovely that it leaves me with a bittersweet taste at the end. Ha :')
To be honest, because it's an
...
anime you can't quite be left with satisfaction after watching them solve every case (4 Cases in total), because the gap between anime and realism; is on a scale of 4 to 10. (Realism in their own anime world not ours). It's interesting to see these con men and women use the concept of "We only scam bad people" while ironically what they are doing; doesn't that fall under the category of 'bad people' themselves? But it's an interesting debate if we were to dwelve deeper on this topic. Because as we watch them behave and their actions. Although they claim to be 'lone wolves' and if they were to mess up they would be left alone to die; they don't really stick to their saying. Cause in the end they, a group of con artist, are all one big family. It's unrealistic but a nice touch for this anime to exist.
It was boring for me at first, and I guess because the vibe of every episode; is not something to be hyped about. Nor was it focused mainly on a single aspect of curiosity (mystery). It's kinda like more of that. For example, you can't really get hyped over a case involvong arrogant narcissistic power figure abusing their power for wealth and fame. It's nothing to get hyped about. But it is intriguing to see how these group of international con artist come up with a plan to.. end? them.
They really made me wrack my brain figuring out what their next move is. It came to a point where I didn't know what to expect or tell which is an act and which were real. (That is if you're watching in one go without pausing). I like it. The anticipation of what's happening next. Ah.. some scenes were just so d_mn emotional too. Some made you think twice of how the real world works, how dirty it is. A bit of comedic touches here and there to make us laugh. Yeah good stufff.
I almost liked the ending tho, the last episode. If they had stick to the script where Laurent actually drove Makoto mad, that would be exactly the outcome that most people would expect. After going through what Makoto went through? Who wouldn't have gone mad. To have your life ruined by your Father just like that all because Dad wanted to play justice by scamming bad people.
... Then again I can kinda support Dad on that. Still.
Like father like son I guess it made sense how Makoto could forgive Dad. (We can't all be like Makoto tho). The first step to forgiveness is forgiving yourself, and that's what Makoto did. Love yourself more.
Well the ending, because it's an anime and I guess Comedy, of course they kept it light. That's okay tho.
That's what I like about Anime.
Living through a part of this world called fantasy (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧

Animation: Beautifully illustrated, will definitely take your breath away. Especially since the story takes place all around the world and not just in Japan.
Sound: All the songs played are mostly English. Sound effects; could have added some introduction music to their opening story; like in every country they visited. And I love the ed song! Cats singing Jazz, it's so good.
Characters: We actually do get background stories from some of the main characters. And honestly they are all deep stuff. Cynthia's is my favorite. As far as character development? Mainly on Makoto since he's the Main Character. Well the thing is although his backstory is messed up; we weren't exactly able to see his development up close. Rather like him going to prison doing some time then got realeased. Yet still after couple years pass by he still gets tricked into doing these things. Perhaps it's because he is an amateur, still it's pretty annoying getting constantly tricked and set up by Laurent's shenanigans. I just think they could have portrayed Makoto as someone more reliable rather than gullible at times.
As for the side characters; interesting but no backstory. Especially Ms Shi Ohn! She deserves a backstory! She's an experience pro con artist. Someone that can be seen as admirable; if only we were to learn her history. She's so bad_ss. Hopefully I can find it all in the manga!

After the plot twist that dropped in episode 5, it finally piqued my interest.
From episode 1 to 4, the plot was predictable and cliche for the evarage viewers, so they needed something big to catch our attention. So they did, dropped a bomb in episode 5 to show us this Tomodachi Game isn't all about money and debt. They were aiming for something bigger.
They being Tenji, and possibly Yuichi. The truth is I don't think Yuichi actually said the main reason for his goal; to destroy the Tomodachi Game company. There's more to his reasons and possibly being related to his past.
Although for now, we
...
know Yuichi & Tenji's 'aiming for something bigger'. I assume the rest of the characters will also join in on their battle with their own respective motive. There's just so much to wonder for this anime.
Wondering about each of the characters' past, figuring out what's going on in Yuichi's thick head of his. 12 episodes, yet the only sauce we're getting is Yuchi's, Tenji & Yutori being his henchmens. (It ended with a clifhanger).
To be honest, I understand that the Author probably wants us to see that Yuichi although fighting with his inner demons, he still would choose friendship over money. I do see Yuichi's struggle in his head, between friendship and money. But I'm not convinced.. it would take more than a few charming acts to convince me otherwise.
The thing is I do believe there's light in his heart. But the way I see it is that the light in his heart is faint because the darkness in his body is overshadowing him.
So to me what's most intriguing about the show, isn't the storyline itself. But Yuichi Katakiri himself. I want to figure him out, I want to understand him, I want to know what drives him to do what he does. Whether it be his past or current life. He is more than a mere subject, he is also human. And even tho I see that about himself, does he?
Yuichi is smart. A genius, strong, witted, and cunning. He is a lot of things. The Author wanted us to look at Yuchi the way They see him. So that's exactly what I'm gonna do.
I guess you could say it's a bit of a bore if the rest of the cast were to be given a mild and tedious personality. But I've come to terms with it, because doesn't the world revolve around the main character? And if the rest are only meant to be stools for him to stand on then so be it. Besides, they aren't just mere tools, they all have a purpose don't they?
To live and fight even if they are to be used as stools. As long as the objective is reached, that's all that matters. And I believe Yuichi did a well job on manipulating them to give their utmost trust in him. Especially on the last episode. It's was very obvious if his true intentions on that episode.
Eh... wouldn't my prediction mean this anime is too easy then? Well. It doesn't matter. Everyone has their own perspective view on this anime. And to me it's an okay in my book.
It was fun to watch and I would definitely recommend it to my friends. I'll just make sure to tell them that Yuichi's psychopathic behavior is overbearing at times.
Who knows, maybe there'll be a worthy opponent for him. I'm sure reading the manga next would be a thrill. Especially since the anime... it's not the anime episodes that are short. But the main plot. Can't wait to read what happens next!

At first when I came here to check on the reviews there was a lot of smack, and I actually believed them. While watching the anime I was expecting for it to get crappier by the minute. And apparently I was wrong. It's okay to not like an anime. But to not like it for not fitting into your preference range or expectation; rather than reviewing it as it's own respectful value. Now that's not okay.
I agree with some people when they said it's quite hard to decide if you want to invest your time in this anime for having Ecchi tagged, (if it's not
...
to your preference). But the main reason one chooses to watch this anime is simply because it's tagged Horror.
And that's why I decided to watch this anime, Mieruko-chan. Because the genre is horror. I gave it a watch and surprisingly it was very good, in my opinion.
If you're wondering if there are some aspects in the anime for you to get hooked on, I believe there are. As the story progress, the more questions you start to ask. (Aside from wondering why Mieruko chan was able to see spirits for the first time, we will never know. At least throughout the anime) How Mieruko would react to the spirits, she only chooses to ignore them. What's intriguing is when you start to question "How did those spirits die? Aside from Human spirit, what paranormal creatures are those things?". From the way I see it, Mieruko's initial plan was to ignore those paranormal beings. But as time progresses she starts to wonder if ignoring them is all she can do?
It takes time but she'll soon realize those beings not only effect her but also those around her. Being able to see those things, will she find the courage to do something about it? If not for everyone, then can she do something to change those feelings she has for herself, family, and friends. To me it's understandable because if we were able to see spirit and people's auras, would we also make use of the ability? Are we as brave as Mieruko chan? How long can one stay ignorant of such things? Mieruko soon find reasons to believe that the ability given to her was meant for something bigger. She found meaning to herself, and to me I find that admirable.
I think the main reason people said this was a bore was because they focused more on how Mieruko reacts to the ghost. And I can agree with that statement. But I believe if we wanted to enjoy more of the anime, we should learn how to emphasize with Mieruko chan's situation. Aside from her reaction, there were actually a few plot twist on some episodes that they threw in there. For example on episode 1/2. When her brother teased her sister "remember that one time when you got mad at dad for eating your yogurt" and the dad replied "hey don't bring that up! That was a year ago!" ... He said a YEAR ago. That really stings my heart.
I'm glad that lost human spitits weren't all that she could see. There were also good spirits and paranormal spirits, etc. We have two characters that could also relate to Mieruko's situation. Although I was disappointed that Godmother only appeared twice on the series.
But!! The ending did leave a lot of questions left unanswered. Which I very much look forward to finding out. So I will definitely read the anime, wether or not a second season will happen.
The most fun part of watching the anime was the sudden plot twist that would happen; both GOOD and BAD.. The lore behind each episodes. And guessing how each ghost dies, like that one episode in the tunnel with a ghost tied in chains in a tin barrel. (I suspected that the ghost got killed by someone possibly by the mafia) The small details are worth wondering about. That's all I can say :)
