Spoiler
At first when I came here to check on the reviews there was a lot of smack, and I actually believed them. While watching the anime I was expecting for it to get crappier by the minute. And apparently I was wrong. It's okay to not like an anime. But to not like it for not fitting into your preference range or expectation; rather than reviewing it as it's own respectful value. Now that's not okay.

I agree with some people when they said it's quite hard to decide if you want to invest your time in this anime for having Ecchi tagged, (if it's not to your preference). But the main reason one chooses to watch this anime is simply because it's tagged Horror.

And that's why I decided to watch this anime, Mieruko-chan. Because the genre is horror. I gave it a watch and surprisingly it was very good, in my opinion.

If you're wondering if there are some aspects in the anime for you to get hooked on, I believe there are. As the story progress, the more questions you start to ask. (Aside from wondering why Mieruko chan was able to see spirits for the first time, we will never know. At least throughout the anime) How Mieruko would react to the spirits, she only chooses to ignore them. What's intriguing is when you start to question "How did those spirits die? Aside from Human spirit, what paranormal creatures are those things?". From the way I see it, Mieruko's initial plan was to ignore those paranormal beings. But as time progresses she starts to wonder if ignoring them is all she can do?

It takes time but she'll soon realize those beings not only effect her but also those around her. Being able to see those things, will she find the courage to do something about it? If not for everyone, then can she do something to change those feelings she has for herself, family, and friends. To me it's understandable because if we were able to see spirit and people's auras, would we also make use of the ability? Are we as brave as Mieruko chan? How long can one stay ignorant of such things? Mieruko soon find reasons to believe that the ability given to her was meant for something bigger. She found meaning to herself, and to me I find that admirable.

I think the main reason people said this was a bore was because they focused more on how Mieruko reacts to the ghost. And I can agree with that statement. But I believe if we wanted to enjoy more of the anime, we should learn how to emphasize with Mieruko chan's situation. Aside from her reaction, there were actually a few plot twist on some episodes that they threw in there. For example on episode 1/2. When her brother teased her sister "remember that one time when you got mad at dad for eating your yogurt" and the dad replied "hey don't bring that up! That was a year ago!" ... He said a YEAR ago. That really stings my heart.

I'm glad that lost human spitits weren't all that she could see. There were also good spirits and paranormal spirits, etc. We have two characters that could also relate to Mieruko's situation. Although I was disappointed that Godmother only appeared twice on the series.

But!! The ending did leave a lot of questions left unanswered. Which I very much look forward to finding out. So I will definitely read the anime, wether or not a second season will happen.

The most fun part of watching the anime was the sudden plot twist that would happen; both GOOD and BAD.. The lore behind each episodes. And guessing how each ghost dies, like that one episode in the tunnel with a ghost tied in chains in a tin barrel. (I suspected that the ghost got killed by someone possibly by the mafia) The small details are worth wondering about. That's all I can say :)
