Solving mysteries is hard. Solving mysteries happening at an entirely different location (or time) is super hard!

Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans

With a cast so huge, it would seem impossible to develop them all in any meaningful way, but these anime manage. The best parts about these shows are the realness of the characters and the cleverness of the plot. Definitely check them out.

Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta?

The main character is just a normal guy, but a girl falls in love with him. The problem is that the girl is nuts. One is significantly darker than the other, but the two sets of leads have the same type of relationship, and in the dub at least, their voices are very similar.

High School is hard enough as it is, but having to kill one's classmates is a whole new level of stress. The situation seems messed up, but by the end, what's really going on turns out to be darker than anyone could have imagined.

The world has become a wasteland, and the protagonist is on a quest to find meaning in it all. Expect bleak colors, moments of quiet, and tragedy.

Never trust traveling performance groups. They all just kill people. Well, maybe not ALL of them. All the ones we hear about in anime do, at least. The groups form families, and outsiders aren't exactly welcomed with open arms.

D-Frag!

A show where the main source of comedy is how completely nuts it is is difficult to make work, but it isn't impossible. Great characters and moments where the audience can breathe help tremendously. Be prepared to laugh.

Gangsta.

Gang wars are always nasty business, but add some superhumans, and things get even messier. Immortals and humans with inhuman powers certainly make things more difficult and complicated for all the characters involved. Good thing it's so much fun to watch.

Akame ga Kill!

An average man finds himself in the midst of a group of criminals. He has two options, join or die. He chooses to join, and turns out to be better for the job than anybody would have guessed. Funny one moment, intense the next. Be prepared for a ride.

Both involve a boy on a mission, and all the friends that he meets along the way. The main characters both have kind hearts, and serve as unexpected leaders.

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom

Guns, guns and more guns. These are both very gun-oriented shows. They even have the same segways for the title cards and commercial breaks. Phantom is more sad and El Cazador is more fun, but neither of these shows would be the same without guns.

Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle

Puzzles, logic, and games that could lead to death. These are both animes about puzzle games in real life. I would also like to point out that the two main characters look alike.

C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control
add

Money plays a huge role in both animes. How it affects society, how it effects people, and what what could happen if it all went away. C is pretty much exclusively about money, but in Speed Grapher it is only prevalent in the villain. However both have a lot to say about money and society.

Both are comedy shows about a normal teenage girl having to get involved with the gods. You can also learn a lot about Japanese culture from both of these shows. Both are also seriously funny.

God Eater

Both are about giant monsters that have nearly pushed humanity to extinction and mankind's battle to take back what was stolen from them. Both of the main characters (Eren from Attack on Titan and Lenka from God Eater) are passionate to a fault and may be humanities greatest hope.

Owari no Seraph

One of the centers of both stories are two old friends on opposite sides of a war, and both genuinely believe that they are on the right side. They both deal in a mix of dystopia and post-apocalypse. The emotions on these shows are big, loud, and deep.

Ergo Proxy
add

Both of which are very psychological and philosophical. But both shows know how to have fun every once and a while, like the Game Show episode in Ergo Proxy or the anime production episode in Paranoia Agent. They are also both really strange, but both can make you think if you give them the chance.

If you liked
Kuroshitsuji

...then you might like
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu
add

The main character in both is a supernatural/ultrapowerful being who can pretty much do whatever it wants. It will be a hard time killing either Korosensei or Sebastian. Comedy also plays a huge part in both shows, although the humor in Black Butler is much darker. Both series also have huge casts.

If you liked
Black Cat (TV)

...then you might like
Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha
add

Assassination is a huge part of both of these shows, how it changes a person, how it is hard to escape, etc. There are also huge underground organizations in both of them. Black Cat is more fun, Darker Than Black is more intellectual, but both are exciting and executed very well.
